Serena Williams beats Maria Sharapova to win Australian Open For more Latest and Breaking News Headlines SUBSCRIBE to https://www.youtube.com/user/24X7BreakingNEWS Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova to win her sixth Australian Open and 19th Grand Slam title. The American world number one served superbly to win a pulsating final 6-3 7-6 (7-5) after Sharapova fought back in the second set. Williams, 33, moves past Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert with a 19th major singles title. She has now beaten Russia's Sharapova, the world number two, 16 times in a row dating back to 2004. "I have to congratulate Maria, she played a wonderful match and she really pushed me," said Williams. "She played so well and gave me a great final not only for the fans, but for women's tennis. I'm really honoured to play her in the final." Despite feeling so unwell during a rain delay in the first set that she left the court to vomit, Williams hit 18 aces and 38 winners as she won in one hour and 51 minutes. Seemingly unsure for a moment that an ace had sealed victory, she then shook hands with Sharapova and bounded over to the corner of Rod Laver Arena towards her player box. It was a brilliant performance in a final that exceeded many expectations, bearing in mind the players' head-to-head record. Sharapova made a nervous start, double-faulting to drop serve in game one, while Williams appeared keener than ever to shorten the points, possibly because of her ailment.

Pro-Russian forces have pledged to continue their offensive in eastern Ukraine if new peace talks with Kiev fail. This came after a new round of peace talks in the Belarusian capital, Minsk were cancelled reportedly because Kiev envoys did not show up. The talks were aimed at finding a way to end the conflict in eastern regions. Back in September 2014, Minsk hosted the representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. They finally inked a ceasefire deal to end the deadly clashes in eastern Ukraine. However, the truce has been violated almost every day. U.S. Central Command said in a statement on Friday that an ISIS chemical weapons expert was killed in an airstrike on Saturday near Mosul, Iraq. Central Command said Abu Malik worked in a chemical weapons production facility under Saddam Hussein before joining al Qaeda in Iraq in 2005. He then joined ISIS, allowing the terrorist group to make use of his experience in chemical weapons capabilities. His death is expected to temporarily degrade and disrupt the terrorist network and diminish ISIS's ability to potentially produce and use chemical weapons against innocent people. http://feeds.nbcnews.com/c/35002/f/663303/s/42e32bc2/sc/11/l/0L0Snbcnews0N0Cstoryline0Cisis0Eterror0Cisis0Echemical0Eweapons0Eexpert0Eabu0Emalik0Ekilled0Eiraq0Eairstrike0Eu0En297336/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com

Prime Evil (2010): This film focuses on South Africa's most notorious government assassin under the apartheid regime, Eugene De Kock, nicknamed 'Prime Evil'. The story begins from his childhood where he was "described by his brother as a shy, lonely child." For downloads and more information visit http://journeyman.tv/61205/short-films-archive/prime-evil.html De Kock started to make a name for himself during the Rhodesian war, in which he was described as a "warrior". However De Kock "never received psychological treatment for the war trauma he suffered in Namibia". In 1983 De Kock was transferred to the police death squad where they "hunted down and killed anti apartheid activists". During the next few years the farm at Vlakplass was used for their regime, where they "were soldiers, used to fight a secret war." At the peak of De Kock's career he had been decorated for bravery, outstanding service and combating terrorism. This however did not last long and by 1992 De Kock was involved in common crime himself. And in 1994 after the elections De Kock was arrested, "he was charged with 121 crimes" and "more than 80 state witnesses testified against him, many former Vlakplass policemen." De Kock was "apartheid's most evil face." SABC - Ref. 4978 Journeyman Pictures is your independent source for the world's most powerful films, exploring the burning issues of today. Boko Haram crisis: African Union backs regional force of 7,500 troops - England News

The African Union (AU) has backed plans for a West African task force of 7,500 troops to fight Boko Haram militants. AU commission chair Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said the threat posed by the Islamist group required a "collective, effective and decisive response". Boko Haram has seized control of a swathe of north-east Nigeria and killed thousands in a six-year insurgency. Four of Nigeria's neighbours - Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger - have agreed to contribute troops to the task force. Speaking after AU talks in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, Ms Dlamini-Zuma said the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF) would have an initial mandate of one year. She said it would conduct "military operations to prevent the expansion of Boko Haram and other terrorist groups' activities and eliminate their presence". The plan is now expected to be submitted to the UN Security Council for approval. Institute for Security Studies analyst Liesl Louw-Vaudran said agreement on the force represented a "turnaround" by Nigeria, given its previous opposition to international military intervention. However, she said it was not yet clear if the MJTF would be deployed as a border force, protecting Nigeria's neighbours from Boko Haram incursions, or whether it would attack the militants inside Nigeria. 'Not doing enough' Nigeria has insisted that it is capable of tackling Boko Haram and is doing all it can to do so. However, some of its neighbours, including Niger and Cameroon, have criticised it for not doing enough. Chadian troops were recently deployed to Cameroon to help repel Boko Haram incursions. The country's forces have also been fighting this week in north-east Nigeria, retaking the town of Malamfatori from the militants. It was not clear whether the Nigerian authorities had prior knowledge of, or approved, the cross-border operation. Late on Thursday, the Nigerian military said Malamfatori was "within the area of operation covered by the MJTF of which Chad has always been a part". Previous plans to beef up regional forces against Boko Haram have foundered. A small MJTF had been based in the north-east Nigerian town of Baga, but the troops were withdrawn following disagreements with the authorities in Abuja. Shortly afterwards, Boko Haram attacked the town, which it still holds. Satellite images have shown widespread destruction in Baga and the neighbouring town of Doron Baga. Estimates for the number of those killed in the assault vary from 150 to more than 2,000.

http://www.undergroundworldnews.com The pilots of AirAsia Bhd. Flight 8501 cut power to a critical computer system that normally prevents planes from going out of control shortly before it plunged into the Java Sea, two people with knowledge of the investigation said. The action appears to have helped trigger the events of Dec. 28, when the Airbus Group NV A320 plane climbed so abruptly that it lost lift and it began falling with warnings blaring in the cockpit, the people said. All 162 aboard were killed. The pilots had been attempting to deal with alerts about the flight augmentation computers, which control the A320’s rudder and also automatically prevent it from going too slow. After the initial attempts to address the alerts, the flight crew cut power to the entire system, which is comprised of two separate computers that serve as backups to each other, the people said. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-01-29/indonesia-won-t-publish-preliminary-report-on-airasia-jet-probe?hootPostID=539bddc044b8fa455564d4c0138b79f7

Two pilots in a helium balloon have completed their crossing of the Pacific with a sea-landing off Mexico, setting new milestones on a six-day trip. American Troy Bradley and Russian Leonid Tiukhtyaev landed safely, their Two Eagles Balloon team said. They claim to have beaten the world distance and duration records by flying for more than 137 hours and travelling more than 5,209 miles (8,383km). To set the records the team needed to beat the existing records by 1%. Closet-like space "The Two Eagles balloon team is pleased to report the Two Eagles balloon has landed safely just off the Baja coast near La Poza Grande," their team said in a statement. "The pilots made a controlled descent to a gentle water landing about four miles off the Baja coast. The balloon is stable and still inflated and the pilots are fine." The statement added that Mexico's authorities "are co-operating fully and the Coast Guard is en route to the balloon. We anticipate they will tow the capsule to shore". The two pilots left Japan on Sunday and had aimed to land in Canada or the US. However, weather forced them to change course towards Mexico. The statement stressed that the sea landing was acceptable "under the international rules governing the establishment of world records". "Two around-the-world attempts using a different type of balloon landed in the water and were approved as records." The two pilots needed to beat the existing records - both set in 1981 - by 1%. For duration that meant staying aloft for about 138 hours and 45 minutes, and for distance they needed to travel about 5,260 miles. The Two Eagles Balloon team said the landing "occurred at six days, 16 hours and 37 minutes", with the pilots covering the distance of 6,646 miles. Gas-air balloons are difficult to steer, relying on the differing wind speed and direction at different altitudes. In order to change height the pilots have only a helium release valve to go down and sandbags to jettison to go up. The hi-tech "Two Eagles" balloon is made of a strong Kevlar and carbon-fibre composite, but weighs only 220 pounds (100kg). It is fitted with monitors and other instruments that track their course and compile data to be submitted to record-keepers. The specially-designed capsule sits beneath a huge helium-filled envelope and is designed to stay aloft for up to 10 days. The pilots live in a closet-like space with a very low ceiling.

At least 44 people, mostly soldiers, are killed as militants fire rockets and set off a car bomb in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. Dozens more were also wounded in the blasts. The attacks targeted the police headquarters of North Sinai in the provincial capital of el-Arish, a nearby military unit and a residential area housing army and police officers. It's been the deadliest assault on Egyptian security forces in recent weeks. Violence has been on the rise in Sinai over the past couple of years. Militants have killed scores of policemen and army forces since July last year following the military ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi.

His death is expected to temporarily degrade and disrupt the terrorist network and diminish ISIS\'s ability to potentially produce and use chemical weapons against innocent people.

The pilots of AirAsia Bhd.

At least 44 people, mostly soldiers, are killed as militants fire rockets and set off a car bomb in Egypt\'s Sinai Peninsula.

Dozens more were also wounded in the blasts. The attacks targeted the police headquarters of North Sinai in the provincial capital of el-Arish, a nearby military unit and a residential area housing army and police officers. It\'s been the deadliest assault on Egyptian security forces in recent weeks. Violence has been on the rise in Sinai over the past couple of years. Militants have killed scores of policemen and army forces since July last year following the military ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi.
