A lower house is one of two chambers of a bicameral legislature, the other chamber being the upper house.
Despite its official position "below" the upper house, in many legislatures worldwide the lower house has come to wield more power. The supremacy of the lower house usually arises from special restrictions placed (either explicitly by legislation or implicitly by convention) on the powers of the upper house, which often can only delay rather than veto legislation or has less control over money bills.
Under parliamentary systems it is usually the lower house alone that designates the head of government or prime minister, and may remove them through a vote of no confidence. There are exceptions to this however, such as the Prime Minister of Japan, who is formally selected with the approval of both houses of the Diet. A legislature composed of only one house is described as unicameral.
In comparison with the upper house, lower houses frequently display certain characteristics:
Many lower houses are named in the following manner: House/Chamber of Representatives/the People/Commons/Deputies.
Verse 1
Everybody, and the way they look at me
Like I'm some kind of rebel
What do they know about my life
And the world I'm living
You know that people, are allowed their freedom, and identity
Don't let 'em tie you to the railings of conformity
Chorus
Rise up from the ways
(Rise up from the ways)
To a higher place
(To a higher place)
See the skies above
(See the skies above)
What was once beloved!
Verse 2
Take me to the angels, see what the good book says
Take me to the farmers, for the good lands sake
Take me to the land where a woman can be who she can
Is there anything left to die for
Prophets and Martyrs, I heard IT ALL BEFORE
IS there anything left to believe in anymore?
Chorus
Verse 3
In the city, the melody can get so low
In the city, the people seem to walk so slow
Just remember, there's a place inside, we all need to go
Chorus
Adlib
(Take me to a higher place)
I was born in a land, that is cold, yes it snows,
Mama was passing through, gave me no choice, only she knows
Just like a creo cookie, milky white & chocolate brown
Jealous, angry peers, they call me a living lie
CHORUS
Don’t know who I am boy
Don’t know what I am Lord
Mama, Please tell me, there’s a plan here
Cos what I am, don’t wanna be
A nomad woman
I sometimes think I’m from another place
On a mission here, from outerspace
Is Planet Zolga a reality?
I’m trying to place my identity
CHORUS
Don’t know who I am boy
Don’t know what I am Lord
Mama Please tell me, there’s a plan here
Cos what I am, don’t wanna be
A nomad woman
Bridge
AfroScat
CHORUS
Don’t know who I am boy
Don’t know what I am Lord
Mama, Please tell me, there’s a plan here
Cos what I am, don’t wanna be
A nomad woman
CHORUS
Don’t know who I am boy
Don’t know what I am Lord
Mama, Please tell me, there’s a plan here
Cos what I am, don’t wanna be
Wooden porches on rundown houses
Mildewed sofas and grown-up yards
Driving past them I am reminded
Of where we come from and where we are
We are only passing through
Like it's all we have to do
And for all it means to me and you
We are only passing through
Up on Wall Street, they shape the curve (or curb)
By what we have and what we deserve
And I don't buy it and they don't care
I can't say which of us is most aware
We are only passing through
Like it's all we have to do
And for all it means to me and you
We are only passing through
Worse case scenario the world just keeps on turning
Best case scenario pretty much the same
And all that seems to matter
Is the scramble for the credit
And the blame
Big old houses and tall white columns
Iron gates to keep what's bad outside
Driving past 'em I am reminded
The price we pay just to enjoy the drive
We are only passing through
Like it's all we have to do
And for all it means to me and you
We are only passing through
INSTRUMENTAL BREAK
We are only passing through
Like it's all we have to do
And for all it means to me and you
We are only passing through
We are only passing through
We are only passing through
