Robert Kelly Slater (born February 11, 1972, Cocoa Beach, FL, USA) is an American professional surfer known for his competitive prowess and style. He has been crowned ASP World Champion a record 11 times, including 5 consecutive titles from 1994–98. He is the youngest (at age 20) and the oldest (at age 39) to win the title. Upon winning his 5th world title in 1997, Slater passed Australian surfing legend Mark Richards to become the most successful champion in the history of the sport. In 2007 he also became the all-time leader in career event wins by winning the Boost Mobile Pro event at Lower Trestles near San Clemente, California. The previous record was held by Slater's childhood hero, 3-time world champion Tom Curren.
In addition to the ASP tour, Slater has also competed in the X-Games (in 2003 and 2004). After earlier being awarded the title prematurely as a result of a miscalculation by the ASP, on November 6, 2011 Slater officially won his eleventh ASP world title at the Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco, by winning his 4th round heat. In May 2005, in the final heat of the Billabong Tahiti Pro contest at Teahupo'o, Slater became the first surfer ever to be awarded two perfect scores for a total 20 out of 20 points under the ASP two-wave scoring system. (The corresponding honor under the previous three-wave system belongs to fellow American Shane Beschen who achieved the feat in 1996.) Since 1990, Slater has been sponsored primarily by surfwear industry giant Quiksilver. He exclusively rides Channel Islands surfboards equipped with his own signature series of FCS fins.
Taylor Knox (born May 15, 1971) is an American professional surfer. He is currently competing on the ASP World Tour.
Knox was born in Thousand Oaks, California and began surfing at 8 years old. He moved with his family to Carlsbad at 13 and continued to pursue his dream of becoming a pro surfer. At age 15, he had to undergo back surgery after a damaged lumbar vertebra from a skateboarding accident threatened to paralyze him. He spent the next six months in a cocoon-like body cast.
In 1990, Knox participated in the World Amateur Championships in Japan. He finished fourth place, ahead of fellow USA team mate Kelly Slater, who placed fifth. He began his ASP World Tour campaign in 1993.
In February 1998, Knox won the inaugural K2 Big-Wave Challenge, an event that offered $50,000 to the surfer who caught the biggest wave of the winter and had photographic evidence. The winning wave was a 52-foot ride at Todos Santos during the Reef Big-Wave World Championships. In 1999 Knox took a one year hiatus from the World Tour. He returned in 2001 and achieved his highest ASP World Tour rating of 4th place.

Young Leslie: [first lines - reading] The marsh ended in a broad plain where the light twinkled. It was a long time since Mowgli had concerned himself with the doings of men. "I will look", he said, "and I will see how far the Man-Pack has changed." The door of the hut opened, and a woman stood peering into the darkness. "Who calls?", said the woman, a quiver in her voice. "Have you forgotten?", said Mowgli. His throat was dry as he spoke.
Young Leslie: [reading] Then they began their long flight. And the flight of the Monkey People, through tree-land, is one of the things nobody can describe.
Young Leslie: [last lines - reading] "Come back", she whispered, "come back, for I love you. Come back again, by night or by day. This door is never shut to you." Mowgli's throat worked as though the cords in it were being pulled, and his voice seemed to be dragged from it as he answered, "I will surely come back."
Leslie: Friends are just people who haven't fucked you over yet.

Mel: Isn't sex the best tension release there is? It's like a really good sweaty game of racquetball. Except you get to come at the end.
Mel: Who ever said you care about me, anyways?::Dark: Didn't I give you my Cap'n Crunch decoder ring back in the 6th grade?
[first lines]::Dark: [voice-over] L.A. is like... nowhere. Everybody who lives here is lost.
Lucifer: I gotta burn off these calories fast, before I blow up. Let's go rollerblading or something. You wanna come along, Dark?::Dark: I'd rather have my ball hairs burned off with an acetylene torch!::Lucifer: Well, that can be arranged.
Lilith: Blood is cool.
Shad: I heard a story that last week down in Brentwood, a guy croaked and nobody knew he had died alone in his house. By the time they found him, his pet dog had eaten his dead face off.::Lilith: Dogs eating people is cool.
Dark's Mom: Uh! It's soggy as a wet armpit in here. How long where you in that shower abusing yourself? You pump your handle too much, young man. If you keep this up, one day it's just going to wither up and fall off!::Dark Smith: Shut-up shut-up shut-up shut-up!
Alyssa: [after stuffing their faces with cake] Uh, I am so stuffed. Are you gonna... you know... upchuck?::Dingbat: I promised my mom that I wouldn't do that anymore. You?::Alyssa: I'm just gonna do a bunch of speed later and not eat for, like... three days. What about you, Egg?::Egg: I'm gonna be sick...
Handjob: How about you sit on my face and cut a nice, big, juicy fart?
Shad: [giggling] I... wanna... die. LET'S ALL DIE.
Get ready for one hell of a ride!

Cause the feeling makes me fly so high
My love for surf is very strong
So the ocean is where I belong. We go

Amazing, grace-filled guiding light See her safely home tonight The east-side squares've grown cold and loud Since I lived there with the twilight crowd The west end lights have lost their wow
Trail my thoughts, show me the way to the heart of her I'm half-lost, wondering if I should follow Or lay low
Sweet, slight arresting bright light smile Peels back the layered big city style And reveals me in the mystery of what her world could mean to me She's an island girl I'm lost at sea
When I was young the radio played just for me, it saved me And now I don't want anyone who wants me, baby Tuning out the darkness Turning on the dawn If life was like the songs, I'd surf across the curved horizon and forget her and be gone
So I check my map for tiny signs Of where she's at and where she's been But it's made from scraps of stupid lines From songs and scenes and magazines It doesn't tell me what it means
Take her face out of the start of the day for me I'm half crazed, wondering if I should follow Or let it go
Can't get straight Lost my way I'm overcome by her spell
