Capital punishment, the death penalty, death sentence, or execution is a legal process whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime. Crimes that can result in a death penalty are known as capital crimes or capital offences. The term capital originates from the Latin capitalis, literally "regarding the head" (referring to execution by beheading).
Capital punishment has in the past been practised by most societies (one notable exception being Kievan Rus); currently only 58 nations actively practice it, and 97 countries have abolished it (the remainder have not used it for 10 years or allow it only in exceptional circumstances such as wartime). It is a matter of active controversy in various countries and states, and positions can vary within a single political ideology or cultural region. In the European Union member states, Article 2 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union prohibits the use of capital punishment.
Currently Amnesty International considers most countries abolitionist. The UN General Assembly has adopted, in 2007, 2008 and 2010, non-binding resolutions calling for a global moratorium on executions, with a view to eventual abolition. Although many nations have abolished capital punishment, over 60% of the world's population live in countries where executions take place, as the People's Republic of China, India, the United States of America and Indonesia, the four most-populous countries in the world, continue to apply the death penalty (although in India, Indonesia and many US states it is only used rarely). Each of these four nations voted against the General Assembly resolutions.
Christopher Lee Rios (November 10, 1971 – February 7, 2000), better known by his stage name Big Pun (short for Big Punisher), was a Puerto-Rican American rapper who emerged from the underground rap scene in The Bronx in the late 1990s. He first appeared on albums from The Beatnuts, on the track "Off the Books" in 1997, and on Fat Joe's second album Jealous One's Envy in 1995, on the track "Watch Out", prior to signing to Loud Records as a solo artist. Pun's lyrics are notable for technical efficiency, having minimal pauses to take a breath, heavy use of alliteration as well as internal and multi-syllabic rhyming schemes. Big Pun died of a heart attack at age 28. About.com ranked him #25 on its list of the 50 Greatest MCs of Our Time (1987 - 2007), while MTV2 ranked him #11 on its list of the "22 Greatest MCs."
Big Pun grew up in New York City's South Bronx neighborhood. At the age of 5 young Rios broke his leg while playing in a New York park, which would later lead to a large settlement from the city. By all accounts from Pun's family, his early years were very difficult, including witnessing his mother's drug abuse, his father's death, and a stepfather who was very hard on Pun. According to his grandmother, Pun would become angry and self-destructive, punching holes in the walls of his family's apartment. Rios dropped out of high school and for some time was homeless staying in abandoned buildings or at friends' homes.
Lethal injection is the practice of injecting a person with a fatal dose of drugs (typically a barbiturate, paralytic, and potassium solution) for the express purpose of causing the immediate death of the subject. The main application for this procedure is capital punishment, but the term may also be applied in a broad sense to euthanasia and suicide. It kills the person by first putting the person to sleep, and then stopping the breathing and heart in that order.
Lethal injection gained popularity in the twentieth century as a form of execution intended to supplant other methods, notably electrocution, hanging, firing squad, gas chamber, and beheading, that were considered to be more painful. It is now the most common form of execution in the United States of America.
The concept of lethal injection as a means of putting someone to death was first proposed on January 17, 1888, by Julius Mount Bleyer, a New York doctor who praised it as being cheaper than hanging. Bleyer's idea, however, was never used. The British Royal Commission on Capital Punishment (1949–53) also considered lethal injection, but eventually rejected it after pressure from the British Medical Association (BMA).

The United States is one of two remaining industrialized nations to still use death as a form of punishment. There are approximately 3,000 prisoners currently living on Death Row. No other country in the world had this many of it's citizens awaiting execution. If you support capital punishment, you support absolute political control at its sickest extreme. Why must we continue to MURDER those who've been convicted of MURDER enforced under the lie that it's a deterrent to MURDER justifies their fucking murder. Sentenced to die. Sentenced to death. Capital punishment. A tool of the terrorist. It's nothing more than a political weapon. It's not a deterrent. It's not prevention. Kill one man, spare another. Our justice system is based on color. Examine the facts. You have to face it. The American death penalty is fucking racist. Abolish capital punishment now. Oppose the murders that state allows. Capital punishment is American's crime. An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind. Politicians who seek enhancement look towards murder for career advancement. They prey on fear and insecurity to win support of the majority. Endorsing murder under false preceptions. Being tough on crime helps win elections. They're playing god. They have no right. It's premeditated political sacrifice. It's not about murder or a crime committed. Not what was done but who fucking did it. It's not about law or even justice. It's about race and economic status. You can't judge a person by a stereotyped race. You have to look at the individual case. No life's returned by an execution. Another death is no solution. Their justice system is just our burden. The way they treat the average person. What about murder by government agents. Not capital punishment or even containment. These political pawns get away with murder. They're servants to the New World Order. You'll see no outside intervention. Not a single death recommendation.
Evil and torture
Are things you can't ignore in these ages of distrust
The challenges to authority
Are things they can't admit and they'll drown them in the dust
Choose your fate
You didn't wanna die 'cause it's they who are to blame
Woe betide
Them whose anger caused the end of liberty for you
Dare to say you didn't wanna die
No way you'll never get away
So stay another day
Take a look to all that they have done
You see the lives they have destroyed
And then you lose control
Wreck the edge
But cross the line of death and there will be nothing left
Take the oath
That one day they'll perish for the crime they perpetrate
Violence and terror
Show them what you feel when you're sitting in the chair
Dart but glare
You must prepare yourself for the capital punishment
Dare to say you didn't wanna die
No way you'll never get away
So stay another day
Take a look to all that they have done
You see the lives they have destroyed
And then you lose control
Evil and torture
Are things you can't ignore in these ages of distrust
The challenges to authority
Are things they can't admit and they'll drown them in the dust
Choose your fate
You didn't wanna die 'cause it's they who are to blame
Woe betide
Them whose anger caused the end of liberty for you
Dare to say you didn't wanna die
No way you'll never get away
So stay another day
Take a look to all that they have done
You see the lives they have destroyed
Overwhelming waiting
looking at the door
rattle of the key
steps on the floor
I've ridden for a fall
tomorrow I will die
the hangman calls my name
from the other side
I won't keep you waiting mephisto
tomorrow is my time and I will go with you
deadly overstatement
I'll make a mortal day
capital punishment
smelling the grave
but I don't rue my life now
feeling the rage
that I entomb in my mind
there is not grace
you know this is my big time
feeling the breathe
my last breath man,
what's going on
what can I deplore
thrown into the shadow
Look at mother’s ruined face; it’s time to change our
fate
A conflict with our world led to a deadly state
We have caused a chaos sustainable dismay
Temperature is rising, add a tropical disease
Better watch out the consequence is our decease
CHORUS
Sad but true - we have to pay the price
We’re livin’ the lie
Guilty in all points we have to die
Our Capital Punishment
The earth becomes our coffin, we’ll be buried alive
Future dreams are gone; we all have to pay the price
Mother earth is ruined a battle field remains
We have to take action to stop this decay
Serious catastrophes environment fades away
Repeat Chorus
This is revenge we’re left to die no one can deny
Our hopes and dreams have been destroyed
When the world is healed from its disease – humanity’s
defeat
Catastrophe on course
Look at what we all have done – beauty is gone
No protection from the fire
World’s destruction on the run – all burned by the sun
ERADICATION’s Done
Look at our broken planet
Nothing is left to destroy
Temperature increased
And the sun burned every form of life
Mistakes and ignorance
Introduced our decay
This is the end
[Big Pun]
It's mine; it's all mine you understand?
At least me and my peoples
Can you dig that?
21st century thought I'd never see it
Right around the corner, baby
Ours for the taking
Verse one: Big Pun
Yo; I've seen child blossom to man,
Some withered and turned to murderers
Led astray by the liars death glorifiers observin us
Watching us close, marking our toast?
Purposely overtaxin the earnings
Nervous, burning down the churches
They're scared of us, rather beware than dare to trust
Always in jail, million dollar bail, left there to rust
Let's call in order, give ourselves a chance to enhance broader
Advance to where minorities are the majority voter
Holdin my own, I'm livin alone in this cold world
My sister just bought a home without a loan, you go girl!
She's an exception, some people can leap to the impression
See, me myself, I start flippin and fall victim to deep depression
I'm stressin the issue here, so we can cross the fiscal year
Tired of gettin fired and hired as a pistol-eer
There's no longevity living off negativity
Fuck it, I'd rather sell reefer than do pizza delivery
That's how the city be, everybody gettin they hustle on
Judge singin death penalty like it's his favorite fuckin song
Word is bond, takin my life you know they lovin it
God 'F' the government and it's fuckin capital punishment!
Chorus: Prospect
Capital punishment, given by the government
System so organized they get to you and who you runnin with
Can't live alone, watch for the spies and tapped phones
Totin the llello for life, the rightful heir to the throne
We come from Kings and Queens, people with dreams, Gods and Earths
For what it's worth, we benefit the Earth with infinite worth
First it's turnin tables, open our own labels
Disable the Republicans, then reverse capital punishment
Verse Two: Big Pun
I've seen it all up close, shit out the movies you'd be buggin
My cousin JuJe, barely a juve', lost it and turned on the oven
He wasn't playin, blew out the flame and started inhalin
Barin a secret too deep to keep on the street for sharin
Wearin the virus, Acquired Immune Deficiency
Dishin his dick in every thick promiscuous fish in the sea
Listen to me, shit is rough in the ghetto
You bluff, blow your head off, fuck a snuff, we bust lead off!
Get off your high horse, or die off like an extinction
Boriquans are like Mohicans, +The Last of the Po'Ricans+
We need some unity, fuck all the jeeps and jewelry
The maturity, keeps me six feet, above obscurity
The streets are deadly and everybody's a desperado
I guess the motto we promise to let you homage in death your motto
Like Zorro, I mark my territory with a symbol
Not with a Z, but a P, cause Punishment's what I resemble!
I lend you this if it expands yours, for you and yours
A real man can't fall, he stands tall
The Man's claws are diggin in my back, I'm tryin to hit him back
Time to counteract, where my niggaz at?
Chorus
Verse Three: Prospect
You like that, it's Pun and Prospect
We hold nines, own more treasure than gold mines, makin progress
With Don Juan's, there's rules to be made, crews to be sprayed
Dues to be paid, nuttin y'all can do to behave
We laid in the slums, made a cake out of crumbs
Even though the government, tryin to take out our sons
Rudy Gulliani trying to blind me, but I see reality
Was raised with the street mentallity
My strategy's why my battery never die
The ghetto kept me wise, so I would never fall to the lies
It's no surprise, but do or die if you want the glamour
Yeah, I want the glamour, laid up with cheese and trees in Atlanta
While Cuban's smoked out like Ronald Isley with Havanas
The hammer in the palm, never shaky, calm handlers
This renegade blow through barricades like grenades
I turn the sun to shade, then the night back to day
Like the twenty-four hour rotation
I know the location, it's just a little in-for-mation
From the Squad, bringing the Terror for the nine-era
Waiting as a damned mad
waiting for a sign
waiting for the hangman
waiting in dark time
Capital punishment for me
Capital punishment for i have sinned
Capital punishment for me
Capital punishment for i was wrong
Waiting in your cold hell
waiting for a sign
waiting in your cold hell
waiting for the chime
Capital punishment for you
Capital punishment for you have sinned
Capital punishment for you
Capital punishment for you were wrong
Let us pray!
Father, we're so close to death
you told us this time would come.
We were full of scorn
now we see the wrong deeds bloom
you told us we were wrong.
Father, do you hear us at all?
Oh you must be there
you were always there.
Father, it nearly seems to me
there's no answering.
Are you gone, are you gone?
Capital punishment for me
Capital punishment for i have sinned
Capital punishment for you
Capital punishment for you have sinned
Capital punishment for us
Capital punishment for we have sinned
Take a look at the sky, can you see a god?
Once when he was there we had a chance, one chance.
But a long time ago he was left alone by his own mankind
and so he died.
Goodbye, my love.

From the Squad, bringing the Terror for the nine-era
The same way we made up the death penalty. We made them
both up, Sanctity of life and the death penalty. Aren't
we versatile? And you know, in this country, now there
are a lot of people who want to expand the death
penalty to include drug dealers. This is really stupid.
Drug dealers aren't afraid to die. They're already
killing each other every day on the streets by the
hundreds. Drive-bys, gang shootings, they're not afraid
to die. Death penalty doesn't mean anything unless you
use it on people who are afraid to die. Like... the
bankers who launder the drug money. The bankers, who
launder, the drug money. Forget the dealers, you want
to slow down that drug traffic, you got to start
executing a few of these fucking bankers. White, middle
class Republican bankers.
And I'm not talking about soft, American executions,
like lethal injection. I'm talking about fucking
crucifixion folks! Let's bring back crucifixions. A
form of capital punishment the Christians and Jews of
America can really appreciate. And I'd go a little
further, I'd crucify people upside-down. Like Saint
Peter, feet up, head down. And naked. I'd have naked
upside-down crucifixions on TV once a week at halftime
on the Monday Night Football game! Halftime! Monday
Night! The Monday Night Crucifixions! You'd have people
tuning in, don't even care about Football! Wouldn't you
like to hear Dan Dierdorf explain why the nails have to
go in at a certain angle? And I'll guarantee you one
thing. You start execute you start nailing one white
banker per week to a big wooden cross, you're going to
see that drug traffic begin to slow down pretty fucking
quick. Pretty fucking quick- you won't even be able to
buy drugs in schools and prisons anymore!
Now, I don't care about capital punishment one way or
another 'cuz I know it doesn’t do anything. It doesn't
do anything, 'cept maybe satisfy a kind of Biblical
need for revenge. You know, if you read The Bible, you
see that it's full of retribution and revenge. So
really, capital punishment is kind of a religious
ritual. It's a purification right. It's a modern
sacrament. And as long as that's true, I say, let's
liven it up a little! I honestly believe that if you
make the death penalty a little more entertaining and
learn to market it correctly, you just might be able to
raise enough money to balance the stupid fucking
budget!! Balance the stupid fucking budget!!
And don't forget, the polls show the American people
want capital punishment, and they want a balanced
budget. And I think even in a fake democracy, people
ought to get what they want once in a while. Just to
feed this illusion that they're really in charge. Let's
use capital punishment the same way we use sports and
television in this country, to distract people and take
their minds off how bad they're being fucked by the
upper one percent. Now, unfortunately, unfortunately
Monday Night Football doesn't last long enough. What we
really need is year-round capital punishment on TV
every night with sponsors. Gotta have sponsors. I'm
sure as long as we're killing people Marlboro
Cigarettes and Dow Chemical would be proud to
participate! Proud to participate! Balance the stupid
fucking budget!!
And- and let me say this to you my interesting Judeo-
Christian friends. Not only- not only do I recommend
crucifixions, I'd be in favor of bringing back
beheadings!! Huh? Beheadings on TV, slow-motion,
instant replay? And maybe you could let the heads roll
down a little hill. And fall into one of five numbered
holes. Let the people at home gamble on which hole the
head is going to fall into. And you do it in a stadium
so the mob can gamble on it too. Raise a little more
money. And if you want to expand the violence a little
longer to sell a few more commercials, instead of using
an axe, you do the beheadings with a hand saw! Hey,
don't bail out on me now, God damnit! The blood is
already on our hands, all we're talking about is a
matter of degree. You want something a little more
delicate, we'll do the beheadings with an olive fork.
That would be nice. And it would take a good God damn
long time. There's a lot of good things we could be
doing.
When's the last time we burned someone at the stake?
It's been too long! Here's another form of capital
punishment, comes out of a nice, rich, religious
tradition. Burning people at the stake. Sponsor:
Bridgeford Charcoal. And you put it on TV on Sunday
mornings. The Sunday Morning Evangelical Send Us An
Offering Praise Jesus Human Bonfire! You don't think
that would get big ratings? In this sick fucking
country?! Shit you'd have people skipping church to
watch this stuff! And you take the money they send in
and the offerings and you use it to balance the budget.
What about boiling people in oil? Boy those were the
days weren't they? You get the oil going real good, you
know, a nice high rolling boil. And then slowly, at the
end of a rope, you lower the perpetrator headfirst into
the boiling oil. Huh? You talk about fun shit! And just
to encourage citizen participation, you let the mob in
the stadium control the speed of the rope. Good, clean,
wholesome family entertainment. The kids'll love it.
The kids'll love it. And at the same time they're
enjoying themselves, we're teaching then a nice,
Christian moral lesson. Boiling people in oil. Sponsor:
Crisco! And maybe, maybe instead of boiling all these
guys every now and then you could french-fry a couple
of them, you know. French-fried felons. Dip a guy in
egg batter, just for a goof, you know? Kind of a
Tempura thing, huh? Jeffrey Dahmer never thought of
this shit did he?! Jeffrey Dahmer, eat you heart out!!
Which is an interesting thought, in and of itself!
Alright, enough nostalgia, what about some modern forms
of capital punishment. How about we throw a guy off the
World Trade Center and whoever he lands on wins the
Publisher's Clearing House? OK something a little more
sophisticated, you dip a guy in brown gravy and lock
him in a small room with a wolverine who's high on
angel dust. There's one guy's not going to be fucking
with to many kids at the bus stop for a while. Here's
something really nice you could do. You shoot a guy out
of a high-speed catapult... right into a brick wall!!
Trouble is, it would be over too quick. No good for TV,
you know? You'd have to do a whole bunch of guys right
in a row. Rapid-fire capital punishment. Fifteen
catapults, while you're shooting off one, you're
loading up the others. 'Course every now and then you
would have to stop to clean off the wall.
Cleanliness... right next to Godliness. Alright hi-
tech. I sense some of you are waiting for hi-tech. I
got it. You take a small, tactical nuclear weapon...
and stick it up a guy's ass! A thermo-nuclear
suppository! Preparation H-Bomb! You talk about
fallout, huh? Whoa! Or, you take the bomb and you stick
it just inside that little hole on the end of a guy's
dick. Yeah, a bomb, in a dick! When it goes off, the
guy wouldn't know whether he was cumming or going!! Ah!
Get outta here!! I gotcha! Hey... listen... I got a lot
