Tragicomedy is a literary genre that blends aspects of both tragic and comic forms. Most often seen in dramatic literature, the term can variously describe either a tragic play which contains enough comic elements to lighten the overall mood or, often, a serious play with a happy ending.
There is no complete formal definition of tragicomedy from the classical age. It appears that the Greek Philosopher Aristotle had something like the Renaissance meaning of the term (that is, a serious action with a happy ending) in mind when, in Poetics, he discusses tragedy with a dual ending. In this respect, a number of Greek and Roman plays, for instance Alcestis, may be called tragicomedies, though without any definite attributes outside of plot. The word itself originates with the Roman comic playwright Plautus, who coined the term somewhat facetiously in the prologue to his play Amphitryon. The character Mercury, sensing the indecorum of the inclusion of both kings and gods alongside servants in a comedy, declares that the play had better be a "tragicomoedia:"
Steven Dean Moore (born September 22, 1978) is a former Canadian professional ice hockey center, best known for receiving what turned out to be a career-ending injury as a result of an illegal hit (specifically, a punch to the head) by then-Vancouver Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi.
Steven Dean Moore, his older brother, Mark, and younger brother, Dominic, all played four years at Harvard University. Because of their relative closeness in age, all three were able to play in the same year for Harvard during the 1999–2000 season. Dominic also went on to play in the NHL.
He was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft in the second round, being 53rd pick overall. Moore played in 69 games for the Avalanche from 2001 to 2004, scoring five goals and seven assists before being seriously injured by Todd Bertuzzi who at the time played for the Vancouver Canucks (see below).
Due to continued post-concussion syndrome, Colorado opted not to give him a qualifying offer after his rookie contract expired, and he has had minimal contact with the Avalanche ever since. Moore also turned down a two-way contract from the Anaheim Ducks.
William Shakespeare (baptised 26 April 1564; died 23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His surviving works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
Shakespeare was born and brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later known as the King's Men. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613 at age 49, where he died three years later. Few records of Shakespeare's private life survive, and there has been considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, sexuality, religious beliefs, and whether the works attributed to him were written by others.
Céline Marie Claudette Dion, CC OQ, (French pronunciation: [selin djɔ̃] ( listen); born March 30, 1968), is a Canadian singer. Born to a large family from Charlemagne, Quebec, Dion emerged as a teen star in the French-speaking world after her manager and future husband René Angélil mortgaged his home to finance her first record. In 1990, she released the English-language album Unison, establishing herself as a viable pop artist in North America and other English-speaking areas of the world.
Dion had first gained international recognition in the 1980s by winning both the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest. Following a series of French albums in the early 1980s, she signed on to CBS Records Canada in 1986. During the 1990s, with the help of Angélil, she achieved worldwide fame after signing with Epic Records and releasing several English albums along with additional French albums, becoming one of the most successful artists in pop music history. However, in 1999 at the height of her success, Dion announced a hiatus from entertainment in order to start a family and spend time with her husband, who had been diagnosed with cancer. She returned to the top of pop music in 2002 and signed a three-year (later extended to almost five years) contract to perform nightly in a five-star theatrical show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Paradise, Nevada.
Ross Childress is a guitarist and songwriter, best known as the former lead guitarist and co-songwriter of American rock band Collective Soul from 1993 to 2001. He co-wrote the music for Collective Soul's hit song "The World I Know".
Ross Childress is currently songwriter, lead guitarist and vocalist in Starfish and Coffee, an indie/pop/rock band he formed in 2006.
Ross Childress was born on September 8, 1971 in Stockbridge, Georgia.
Childress grew up with and had played with the original band members of Collective Soul before the group signed to Atlantic Records in early 1994. Over a period of eight years with the band, he recorded on, and toured in support of, five studio albums that have sold over seven million copies and generated seven #1 singles on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock charts. He left the band in September 2001 after the release of the greatest hits compilation 7even Year Itch. Much debate still exists[citation needed] regarding the reason for his departure. The band had released a brief statement on its website urging fans to understand that the situation was very personal. It was found out later that he was ousted due to having an affair with Ed Roland's wife.
yo soy tu tragicomedia
me subes como la espuma,
yo bajo por tus caderas
si me subes a la luna
tendras una luna llena
y tus ojos me miraron
y la luna se cayo del cielo
y tus palabras me hablaron
aunque ultimamente no te entiendo
pero me pongo tan malo
cada vez que me roza tu pelo
casi como un bicho raro
una especie nueva de insecto
que no, que no, que no
por eso piensa que soy un sueño
sueña que pienso
mandame un beso
llamame un dia de estos
estoy en el metro sin cobertura
y en la parada de tu cintura
y alegrame esta triste figura
cuentame un cuento, dame locura
porque si no luego me lo invento
pero me pongo tan malo
cada vez que me roza tu pelo
casi como un bicho raro
una especie nueva de insecto
que no
y si tengo que morirme
que me muera en primavera
pa poder echar raices
y vivir siempre a tu vera
y si tienes que marcharte
llevame en una maleta
yo prometo no pesarte
tu procura no perderla
y tus ojos me miraron
y la luna se cayo del cielo
y tus palabras me hablaron
aunque ultimamente no te entiendo
pero me pongo tan malo
cada vez que me roza tu pelo
casi como un bicho raro
una especie nueva de insecto
que no, que no, que no
por eso piensa que soy un sueño
sueña que pienso
mandame un beso
llamame un dia de estos
