noodls 2015-03-19Literacy has been described as the ability to read for knowledge and write coherently and think critically about the written word. Literacy can also include the ability to understand all forms of communication, be it body language, pictures, video or sound (reading, speaking, listening and viewing). Evolving definitions of literacy often include all the symbol systems relevant to a particular community. Literacy encompasses a complex set of abilities to understand and use the dominant symbol systems of a culture for personal and community development. In a technological society, the concept of literacy is expanding to include the media and electronic text, in addition to alphabetic and number systems. These abilities vary in different social and cultural contexts according to need and demand.
Literacy represents the lifelong, intellectual process of gaining meaning from print. Key to all literacy is reading development, which involves a progression of skills that begins with the ability to understand spoken words and decode written words, and culminates in the deep understanding of text. Reading development involves a range of complex language underpinnings including awareness of speech sounds (phonology), spelling patterns (orthography), word meaning (semantics), grammar (syntax) and patterns of word formation (morphology), all of which provide a necessary platform for reading fluency and comprehension. Once these skills are acquired the reader can attain full language literacy, which includes the abilities to approach printed material with critical analysis, inference and synthesis; to write with accuracy and coherence; and to use information and insights from text as the basis for informed decisions and creative thought.

Tyson recalls that "so strong was that imprint [of the night sky] that I'm certain that I had no choice in the matter, that in fact, the universe called me." He obsessively studied astronomy in his teens, and eventually even gained some fame in the astronomy community by giving lectures on the subject at the age of fifteen.
Get out my life, woman; you don't love me no more
Get out my life, woman; you don't love me no more
Get out my life, woman; you don't love me no more
Get out my eyes, teardrops; I gotta see my way around
Get out my eyes, teardrops; I gotta see my way around
Get out my life, heartache; nothin' but heartache by the pound
Get off the ladder, woman; I've got to climb up to the top
Get off the ladder, woman; I've got to climb up to the top
Get off the ladder, woman; there is nothin' gonna make me stop
Get out my way, woman; I gotta be movin' on
Get out the way, woman; I gotta be movin' on
Get out the way, woman; I gotta be movin' on
CHORUS:
Can you hear me? (yeah) Can you hear me? (yeah)
I know you hear me (yeah) Tell me, don't you hear me
(yeah)
Hey hey (yeah) it's all right (yeah) mmm hmm
Everybody is feelin' fine
Don't nobody leave, we're gonna have a good time
We're gonna shake 'em up till early morn
I'm here to tell you that we're gonna have some fun, now
(chorus)
If you want me, you can take off your shoes
Jump about & shout about, you got nothin' to lose
Everybody come hear, one by other one
I'm here to tell you that we're gonna have some fun, now
(chorus)
(spoken):
I wonder if you can hear me, Charlie. Can you hear me?
Ah we're gonna shake 'em up till the broad daylight!
Can you hear me? (yeah) Can you hear me? (yeah)
Hey hey (yeah) I know you hear me (yeah)
(spoken): Everything I do gohn be funky!
Everything I do gohn be funky from now on, yeah
Everything I do gohn be funky from now on
I have to be myself
I had a good catch and was doin' fine
When who I thought was a friend of mine
Went runnin' to the boss and started lyin'
(I gotta get out and find a job)
The roof is leakin' and the rent ain't paid
Need a new pair of shoes and I'm underfed
Old lady's fussin' 'bout the bills she made
(I gotta get me out and find a job)
Never made enough to put nothin' on the side
Problems, problems, Lord I'm so tired
Troubles by the dozen, oh me oh my
(I gotta get me out and find a job)
I don't know how I'm gonna live
Somethin' gotta break or somethin' gotta give
I been troubled
Well I been workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whew about to slip down
Five o'clock in the mornin'
I'm up before the sun
When my work day is over
I'm too tired for havin' fun
Lord i am so tired
How long can this go on
I been workin' goin' workin'
Whew about to slip down
(Operation heartache, operation heartache)
My shoes won't walk your street no more
My fist won't knock on your front door
It took so long to realize
(Operation heartache, operation heartache)
My, I don't wanna hear your lies no more
Your drug-addictin', tongue-twistin' alibis no more
Gone, I'll be long gone
(Operation heartache, operation heartache)
(instrumental)
My heart won't be in your hands no more
Don't call me your man no more
It took so long to realize
(repeat
Oh Lottie Mo, oh Lottie Mo
Oh Lottie Lottie Mo
Oh Lottie baby, oh Lottie baby
What are you gonna do?
Oh yes, you're tellin' me that you love me
(Oh I can't get away, I can't get away
I can't get away, oh I can't get away)
She can talk that kind of love that makes you wanna stay
(I can't get away, oh I can't get, oh)
I (can't get away, oh) I (can't get away)
I (can't get away, oh) I (can't get away)
She got the kind of love that makes you wanna stay
(Oh I can't get away, oh I can't get away)
Many a time she done me wrong
I know why she leaves here alone
But I'm blind by her love, looks like I'm here to stay
(Oh I can't get away, oh I can't get)
I try to forget her but I can't
I could leave town, but I ain't
I'm hog-tied by her love,
It was a creed written into the founding documents that
declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they
blazed a trail toward freedom.
Yes we can. Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from
distant shores
and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving
wilderness.
Yes we can. Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized;
women who reached for the ballots;
a President who chose the moon as our new frontier;
and a King who took us to the mountain-top and pointed
the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can. Si Se Puede
(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)
We know the battle ahead will be long,
but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand
in our way,
nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions
of voices calling for change.
We want change!
(We want change! We want change! We want change...)
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of
cynics who will only grow louder and more dissonant.
We've been asked to pause for a reality check.
We've been warned against offering the people of this
nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has
never been anything false about hope. We want change!
(We want change! I want change! We want change! I want
change...)
The hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling
school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy
who learns on the streets of LA;
we will remember that there is something happening in
America;
that we are not as divided as our politics suggests;
that we are one people;
we are one nation;
and together, we will begin the next great chapter in
America's story with three words that will ring from
coast to coast;
from sea to shining sea - Yes. We. Can.
(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we
(Ride your pony) get on your pony & ride; all right!
(Ride your pony) get on your pony & ride; ah you're
ridin' high!
Now stay beside me
(We're gonna ride) way out west where the grass is
green
(Ride) California, you know what I mean
(Ride) New York City & Detroit too
(Ride) on to New Orleans, the home of the blues
(chorus)
(Pistol yeah) now get ready
Now shoot! (bang) Shoot! (bang) Shoot! (bang)
(chorus)
(We're gonna ride) to St. Louis where the girls are
pretty
(Ride) Atlanta, GA, what a swingin' city
(Ride) Got to make it, that's for sho'
(Ride) Move on furthermo'
(chorus)
(Pistol yeah) now get ready
Now shoot! (bang) Shoot! (bang) Shoot! (bang)
(Ride, ride) All right now, stay beside me, stay beside
(Ride, ride) All right! (Ride, ride)
Now's the time for all good men
to get together
with one another.
We got to iron out our problems
and iron out our quarrels
and try to live as brothers.
And try to find a piece of land
without stepping on one another.
And do respect the women of the world.
Remember you all have mothers.
We got to make this land a better land
than the world in which we live.
And we got to help each man be a better man
with the kindness that we give.
I know we can make it.
I know darn well we can work it out.
Oh yes we can, I know we can can
Yes we can can, why can't we?
If we wanna get together we can work it out.
And we gotta take care of all the children,
the little children of the world.
'cause they're our strongest hope for the future,
the little bitty boys and girls.
We got to make this land a better land
than the world in which we live.
And we got to help each man be a better man
with the kindness that we give.
I know we can make it.
I know darn well we can work it out.
Oh yes we can, I know we can can
yes we can can, why can't we?
Oh well I'm uh

Love lots of lovin'
Love lots of lovin', ooh yeah
If you could see inside my soul
You'd see love lots of lovin'
You see a love that will never grow old
You'd see love lots of lovin'
This whole world is a better place to live
When the one you love in return does give you
Love lots of lovin'
Love lots of lovin'
Sometimes it gets rough and I don't mean maybe
Don't worry 'bout nothin' stickin' with me, baby
Love lots of lovin'
You know what I mean
Come on, give it to me
I need a love lots of lovin', ooh yeah
Love lots of lovin', love lots of lovin'
I wake up in mornin' with you on my mind
I gotta see you come rain or shine
Listen to me, I need you bad
And I will never leave you baby
There's a feelin' deep inside me
And it's all for you and it will always be
Love lots of lovin'
You move me, baby
You move me
You're so groovy
Love lots of lovin'
Love lots of lovin'
Well, every little bit of thing I do, yeah baby
I'm just tryin' to get closer to you
Holy cow, what you doin', child?
You got the kind of love that drives me wild
If you could see inside my soul
You'd see love lots of lovin'
You see a love that will never run cold
You'd see love lots of lovin'
This whole world is a better place to live
When the one you love in return does give you
Love lots of lovin'
Love lots of lovin'
Go-go, go-go girl, you drive me wild
Shake it, shake it, shake it, child
Eyes wide open but you see no one
I'ma be there
When the music comes
Oh, shake it, baby
Go-go, go ahead
And work your show
Till you can't work no more
Go-go girl, you know
You're looking good
I see you wink your eye
Winking at every guy
Go-go girl, don't you realize
That I'm waiting for you
Whenever you get through
Oh, ooh, baby
Oh, you blow my mind, baby
Go-go, go-go girl, I like your style
Oh, shake it, mama
(Shake it, shake it, shake it, child)
You're not just working
But you're having fun
Oh, but guess what
I'ma be here
When the morning comes
I'ma be right here
Till the morning comes
Go-go, I see the
Beat is getting to you
You're feeling it
Through and through
Go-go girl, you know
You're knocking them out
I'm waiting here patiently
Till you can be alone with me
And that's the way it's gonna be
'Cause I'm waiting for you
Whenever you get through
Oh, ooh, baby
One, two, three
Baby, you're for me
Go-go, oh
You're looking good too, mama
Shake it, shake it, shake it, child
I'ma be right here
Till the morning comes
Who lifts me up when I'm down?
Who's the one always around?
Candy Yam, I wanna thank you ma'am
Oh yeah, oh yeah
When my days are dark as night
Who pulls the chain from the night?
Holy cow, I wanna thank you, child
Oh yeah, oh yeah
I don't know what I would do without you
I wouldn't even try
If anything would ever come between us
I would surely die, yeah
Who always thinks of me first?
Who's gonna meet me in church?
Holy cow, I wanna thank you, child
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Who gives me right when I'm wrong?
Who will I love from now on?
Candy Yam, I wanna thank you ma'am
Oh yeah, oh yeah

When Mom and Papa first laid eyes
On me right from the start
They knew right away a lover was born
I'd be breakin' lovers' hearts
(Breakin' lovers' hearts)
At a very early age, yeah, I began to show sign
That a stone cold lover was born
Lord, I'm gonna let it shine, yeah
(I'm gonna let it shine, yeah)
Girl, if I can't love you
A reel can make gumbo
A drunken man don't stumble
A seein'-eye dog can learn to lead the blind
A bee don't deal in honey
The Beatles ain't got no money
And watermelons grow on a grapevine
One day my papa told me
?Son, sit down, I gotta talk to you
Said, don't believe I can't understand
I've been through the same thing too?
Said, ?You think you're pretty hot stuff
And you dig every girl you see
But listen, son, settle for one
It'll save a lotta misery in the long run?
If that don't get it, sonny
There ain't no corpse in the dawn
There ain't no birds in a home
And you can get black from a turnip
If you squeeze and squeeze
Tears don't go with the blues
Chicken wear high-heeled shoes
And Old McDonald's farm didn't have no trees
I'm gonna take my papa's advice
Though it's gonna be hard to do
I'm gonna stop tryin' to prove a point
I'm gonna give myself to you, girl
If I fear you, baby
Ain't no leaps in a frog
There ain't no bumps on a log
And you can get black from a turnip
If you squeeze and squeeze
A new cow don't give milk
A egg don't got no yolk
And I'd pull side of pole right out of tree, yeah
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
My over there was passing me
She got a whole lot of rhythm when she walk
& I can hear rhythm when she talk
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
I wonder, who can this creature be?
She ain't Mona Lisa as I can see
But I don't care, she looks good to me
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
I can learn to love you, yes sir-ee
I may sound crazy, but it's so fine
Tell me pretty baby you're goin' high
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
(instrumental)
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Let's get together & make whoopee
A-B-C-D-E-F-G
Cupid shootin' arrows 3 by 3

Forget about the do-re & think about me

Forget about the do-re & think about me

I get weak, I can't eat, since you walked out on me
Holy smoke, what you doin' to me?
I can't eat, I can't sleep since you walked out on me
Holy cow, what you doin', child?
(Holy cow, what you doin', child)
What you doin', what you doin', child?
(Holy smoke, girl it ain't no joke, hey hey hey)
Where's my boss? Job I've lost since you walked out on me
Holy smoke, what you doin' to me?
Walkin' the ledge, my tears on edge since you walked out
on me
Holy cow, what you doin', child?
(Holy cow, what you doin', child)
What you doin', what you doin', child?

Holy cow, what you doin', child?

What you doin', what you doin', child?
(Give it up, to give it up)
You know what's on my mind
(Give it up, to give it up, girl)
You've been wastin' too much time
You know you got what I want
You come on, you're 'bout to blow my mind
(Can you dig it? Give it up, to give it up, girl)
You've been wastin' too much time
(Give it up, to give it up, girl)
You know what's on my mind
Ah, don't wait another longer
Patiently I've waited, baby, waited just for you
And I ain't gonna move and act till you do what you're supposed to do
You got your thing together and I can't waited too
And that's the very reason, baby, I'm stickin' here with you
(Give it up, to give it up, girl)
You know what I'm talkin' about, give it to me
(You can dig it, to give it up, girl)
Yeah, make me shout
Give it to me
Give it to me
Give it to me
(Give it up, to give it up, girl)
My baby, don't take so long
It's right around the corner
I'm gonna get it and bring it home
(Give it, give it up, child)
Oh, make me shout
(Give it, to give it up, girl)
Oh, that's what I'm talkin' about
Give it to me
Give it to me
Give it to me
Give it to me
That's right, baby
Twenty long miles from town
My old car broke down
The clutch is shot
And the sound is so hot
Oh, what I'd give to be home
Nineteen miles from town
My old car broke down
The battery's dead
Man, like I said
Oh, what I'd give to be home
Eighteen miles from town
My old car broke down
The fan belt's slipping
And the engine's missing
Oh, what I'd give to be home
Resting my bones
Seventeen miles from town
My old car broke down
Just my luck, I've got
The fuel pump's stuck
Oh, what I'd give to be home
When the sun's
So high up in the sky
And I'm trying to
Get home to my baby
When I get that far
I'm gonna get rid of this car
It's got to go, it's got to go
And I don't mean maybe
Sixteen miles from town
My old short broke down
My tire's down and no spare around
Oh, what I'd give to be home
Oh yeah
Fifteen miles from town
My old car broke down
The battery's dead
Man, like I said
Oh, what I'd give to be home
Fourteen miles from town
Work work work
Work work work
I look for a job both day and night
I can't find nothin' that will suit me right
A little bit of nerve I'm not tryin' to shake
But everything I've found seems too much like work
(Work work work)
What you're talkin' 'bout?
(Work work work)
Are you talkin' to me?
(Work work work)
Mmm, mmm
(Work work work)
Hey, hey, hey
Does anybody here know somebody
Who needs somebody who wants somebody to
(Love love love)
Now, you're talkin' now
(Love love love)
I need a little spendin' change every now and then
I ain't seen a quarter since who knows when
I ask my friends if they could spare a little cash
But all they ever do is stand around and talk trash about
(Work work work)
What you're talkin' 'bout?
(Work work work)
Are you talkin' to me?
(Work work work)
Mmm, mmm
(Work work work)
Hey, hey, hey
Does anybody here know somebody
Who needs somebody who wants somebody to
(Love love love)
Now, you're talkin' now
(Love love love)
Work work work
Work work work
Work work work
Oh, well, I'm... (UHH!)
Sittin' here in La-La,
Waitin' for my Ya Ya (ohh, ohh)
Sittin' here in La-La,
Waitin' for my Ya Ya (ohh, ohh)
It may sound funny
But I don't believe she's comin' (ohh, ohh)
Baby hurry,
Don't make me worry (ohh, ohh)
Yeah baby, hurry,
Don't make me worry (ohh, ohh)
You know that I love you,
Oh, how I love you (ohh, ohh)
Sittin' here in La-La,
Waitin' for my Ya Ya (ohh, ohh)
Sittin' here in La-La,
Waitin' for my Ya Ya (ohh, ohh)
It may sound funny
But I don't believe she's comin' (ohh, ohh)
Baby hurry,
Don't make me worry (ohh, ohh)
Yeah baby, hurry,
Don't make me worry (ohh, ohh)
You know how I love you,
Oh, how I love you (ohh, ohh)
Sittin' here in La-La,
Waitin' for my Ya Ya (ohh, ohh)
Sittin' here in La-La,
Waitin' for my Ya Ya (ohh, ohh)
It may sound funny
But I don't believe she's comin' (ohh, ohh)
Baby hurry,
Don't make me worry (ohh, ohh)
Yeah baby, hurry,
Don't make me worry (ohh, ohh)
Often I'm listening
Not to the words you say
But to the love within you
Without this peril
There's no us
Now I see the ties that bind
I'm tired of pretending
This is where I should be
I know it's still possible
To save our memories
We're looking for an answer
I know that we already know
In every other love story
Someone has got to go
This house is flooded
Upsets the balance
Too much sweetness turns sour
Not within me but in our difference
Here lies the abyss
Say no more
Say goodbye
I see who you are
Just stay around now
This is the best part
Time to set each other free
I can see now in the aftermath
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
If I made you feel second best
I'm so sorry I was blind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine
Little things I should have said and done, oh
I just never took the time, oh yeah oh yeah
You were always on my mind, oh oh yeah
You were always on my mind
Baby
Tell me..
Tell me that your sweet love hasn't died, oh yeah
Baby, give me..
Give me one more chance to keep you satisfied
Because you were always on my mind
Oh, oh yeah
Oh yeah
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind yeah
Oh, you
Every day that we have
You were always on my mind
Oh yeah
When you walk
Through a storm
Hold your head, up high
And don't be afraid, of the dark
at the end of the storm
ther's s a golden sky
And the sweet silver song
Of the lark
Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed
And blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope, in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Alone
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your hearts
I cried a tear
You wiped it dry
I was confused
You cleared my mind
I sold my soul
You bought it back for me
And held me up and gave me dignity
Somehow you needed me.
Chorus
You gave me strength
To stand alone again
To face the world
Out on my own again
You put me high upon a pedestal
So high that I could almost see eternity
You needed me
You needed me
And I can't believe it's you I can't believe it's true
I needed you and you were there
And I'll never leave, why should I leave
I'd be a fool
'Cause I've finally found someone who really cares
You held my hand
When it was cold
When I was lost
You took me home
You gave me hope
When I was at the end
And turned my lies
Back into truth again
You even called me friend
Repeat Chorus
You needed me
When a man loves a woman
Can't keep his mind on nothing else
He'll trade the world
For the good thing he's found
If she's bad he can't see it
She can do no wrong
Turn his back on his best friend
If he put her down
When a man loves a woman
Spend his very last dime
Tryin' to hold on to what he needs
He'd give up all his comfort
Sleep out in the rain
If she said that's the way it ought to be
Well, this man loves a woman
I gave you everything I had
Tryin' to hold on to your precious love
Baby, please don't treat me bad
When a man loves a woman
Down deep in his soul
She can bring him such misery
If she plays him for a fool
He's the last one to know
Lovin' eyes can't ever see
When a man loves a woman
He can do no wrong
He can never own some other girl
Yes when a man loves a woman
I know exactly how he feels
'Cause baby, baby, baby, you're my world
The devil went down to Georgia.
He was lookin' for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cause he was way behind
and he was willin' to make a deal,
When he came across this young man sawin' on a fiddle
and playin' it hot.
And the devil jumped up on a hickory stump and said,
"Boy, let me tell you what."
"I guess you didn't know it but
I'm a fiddle player, too.
And if you'd care to take a dare
I'll make a bet with you.
Now, you play pretty good fiddle
boy, but give the devil his due.
I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul
'cause I think I'm better than you."
The boy said, "My name's Johnny,
and it might be a sin.
But I'll take your bet,
you're gonna regret
'cause I'm the best that's ever been."
Johnny, rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard,
'Cause hell's broke loose in Georgia and the devil
deals the cards.
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold.
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.
The devil opened up his case and he said, "I'll start
this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips as he rosined up his
bow.
And he pulled the bow across the strings and it made an
evil hiss.
Then a band of demons joined in and it sounded
somethin' like this:
When the devil finished, Johnny said, "Well, you're
pretty good, old son,
but sit down in that chair right there and let me show
you how it's done."
Fire on the mountain. Run, boys, run.
The devil's in the House of the Rising Sun.
Chicken in the bread pan pickin' out dough.
Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no.
The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been
beat.
And he laid that golden fiddle on the ground at
Johnny's feet.
Johnny said, "Devil, just come on back if you ever want
to try again.
I done told you once, you son of a bitch, I'm the best
that's ever been."
He played Fire on the mountain. Run, boys, run.
The devil's in the House of the Rising Sun.
Chicken in the bread pan pickin' out dough.
Almost heaven, west virginia
Blue ridge mountains
Shenandoah river -
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered round her
Miners lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice
In the mornin hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin down the road I get a feelin
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, now country roads

I took my troubles down to Madame Rue
You know that gypsy with the gold-capped tooth
She's got a pad down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
Sellin' little bottles of Love Potion Number Nine (Love
Potion Number Nine)
I told her that I was a flop with chics
I've been this way since 1956
She looked at my palm and she made a magic sign
She said: "What you need is Love Potion Number Nine"
She bent down and turned around and gave me a wink
She said: "I'm gonna make it up right here in the sink"
It smelled like turpentine, it looked like Indian ink
I held my nose and closed my eyes, I took a drink
I didn't know if it was day or night
I started kissin' everything in sight
But when I kissed a cop down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
He broke my little bottle of Love Potion Number Nine
I held my nose, I closed my eyes, I took a drink
Mmm, I didn't know if it was day or night
I started kissin' everything in sight
But when I kissed a cop down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
He broke my little bottle of Love Potion Number Nine

It's raining in my heart.
The sun don't shine for me.
It's raining in my heart.
When your not here with me.
If we would ever part.
You could'nt set me free.
For always you and me.
I'll give my everything.
I give the song I sing.
Girl just to be with you.
Give all my love to you.
Submit myself to you.
To make this dream come true.
I'll be the kind of man.
You want a man to be.
Cause you inspire me.
Bring out the good in me.
Erassed the bad in me.
And change my destiny.
It's raining in my heart.
Times passing by of me.
It's raining in my heart.
When your not touching me.
If we would ever part.
I would not want to see.
For always you and me.
The only way I see.
The only way to live.
Girl is to live for you.
The only way to cry.
The only way to die.
Girl is to die for you.
A million things I've said.
And a million things I've done.
Somethings I failed to do.
But there's one thing I know.
I never fail to do.
And that is loving you.
As the snow flies
On a cold and gray chicago mornin
A poor little baby child is born
In the ghetto
And his mama cries
cause if theres one thing that she dont need
Its another hungry mouth to feed
In the ghetto
People, dont you understand
The child needs a helping hand
Or hell grow to be an angry young man some day
Take a look at you and me,
Are we too blind to see,
Do we simply turn our heads
And look the other way
Well the world turns
And a hungry little boy with a runny nose
Plays in the street as the cold wind blows
In the ghetto
And his hunger burns
So he starts to roam the streets at night
And he learns how to steal
And he learns how to fight
In the ghetto
Then one night in desperation
A young man breaks away
He buys a gun, steals a car,
Tries to run, but he dont get far
And his mama cries
As a crowd gathers round an angry young man
Face down on the street with a gun in his hand
In the ghetto
As her young man dies,
On a cold and gray chicago mornin,
Another little baby child is born
I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
Look for the light, there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothing but blue skies
I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
could just sit around making music all day long.
As long as I'm making my music, ain't gonna do nobody
no harm.
And who knows, maybe I'll come up with a song
To make people want to stop all their fussing and
fighting
Long enough to sing along.
I believe in music.
Oh, I believe in love.
And I believe in music.
Oh, I, I believe in love.
Music is love, and love is music, if you know what I
mean.
People who believe in music are the happiest people
I've ever seen.
So clap your hands and stomp your feet and shake your
tambourine,
And lift your voices to the sky; tell me what you see.
I, I believe in music.
Oh, I believe in love.
I believe in music.
Oh, I, I believe in love.
Music is the universal language, and love is the key
To peace, hope, and understanding, and living in
harmony.
So grab your brother by the hand, let's sing along with
And lift your voices to the sky; tell me what you see.
I, I believe in music.
Oh, I, I believe in love.
I, I believe in music.
Theres a storm across the valley, clouds are rollin in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders
Theres a truck out on the four lane a mile or more away
The whinin of his wheels just makes it colder
Hes an hour away from ridin on your prayers up in the
And ten days on the road are barely gone
Theres a fire softly burnin, suppers on the stove
But its the light in your eyes that makes him warm
Hey its good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend
Yes n hey, its good to be back home again
Theres all the news to tell him, howd you spend your
time
Whats the latest thing the neighbors say
And your mother called last friday, sunshine made her
You felt the baby move just yesterday
Hey its good to be back home again - yes it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend
Yes n hey, its good to be back home again
Oh the time that I can lay this tired old body down
Feel your fingers feather soft upon me
The kisses that I live for, the love that lights my way
The happiness that that livin with you brings me
Its the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time
with you
Its the little things that make a house a home
Like a fire softly burnin supper on the stove
The light in your eyes that makes me warm
Hey its good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend
Yes n hey, its good to be back home again
Hey its good to be back home again - you know it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend
Hey, its good to be back home again
When it's dark I'm five again
I cannot wait to see you again
To see you from behind the scenes
Makeup gone beneath the sheets
My most precious little bee
Ivory skin... so sugar sweet
It's getting dark in here
With you my closest friend
It's getting dark again
I'll stay with you until dawn sets in
Curled up in a soft cocoon
Flowers laced with your perfume
To see you in the warm moonlight
Blankets wrapping us so tight
How I've missed this lovely sight
As I lay here with you tonight
Cannot wait to see you soon
Snowflakes fall and flowers bloom
Elastic words tend to blind my eyes
Shadow creatures in disguise
The things you say
Saving kisses for another day
All we have to do left in the dark
Is laugh the night away
I say a kiss can last forever
for the moment sets us free
the wheels in life they stop turning
divides between the light
the endings, beginnings...
that set us free
to the old ones, the young ones
we are free
I was walking alone this dark world wide
in what seems so alone
a part was hiding
a child at play
someone was listening
for an echo fades
the endings, beginnings...
that set us free
to the old ones, the young ones
we are free
gone away
here to stay
brush away
it's ok
scorch the skies
hide the sun
sleep away all the numb
deep inside I can fly...
with you
curl in your chest
and I will sleep
and I will wait there patiently
forever changing things around
I see sweet memories dance around
all i want is you
nothing else will do
I want you
have you ever known
something so true
finding peace inside the two
notes fall back
clocks bring them forward
sleeping souls they move northward
the endings, beginnings...
that set us free
to the old ones, the young ones
we are free
Wake up no one's home
looks like no one's home for the supper time
better pick up the phone
I know you're home
thinking back all those years
we wasted away with our tears
hoping one day you'll be here in my arms
and the radio plays our song...
Ashes, ashes we all down
sooner or later we all fall down
Ashes, ashes we all fall down...
Outside no sun shining
Outside no one playing our song
in the distance a wind is breathing
in the distance a wind is breathing your name
and every dream I have of you
it's so pure, yes it's so pure
and every tear I shed for you
they're crystal clear
yes they're crystal clear
Standing here all alone
hoping, wishing you'll hear my echo
and on, and on, and on, and on
Never apart we were the pair
Never apart we could not spare
just for an instance you were my Juliet
and the radio plays our song...
Outside no sun shining
Outside no one playing our song
in the distance an angel's breathing
in the distance I am screaming your name
And I'm the man who stands before you
who tells you you're not alone
no , you're not alone
and every tear I shed for you
they're crystal clear
A predestine grey
The leaves were blooming as they die
The wind had blown the solar gain away
Veiled in a silent dream
Permanent things are forgotten
Inevitably stale and rotten
Testing... one two three
Testing... can you receive
Testing... one two three
Testing... signal received
Funny fantasies are never so real
Old style romances
Gone with the wind
I am waiting to see God on TV
I am waiting for the planets to fall like rain
I am waiting for life to begin
...So cold outside
So warm inside
Blind birds sing loud
Did I actually wake
Or is this in my head
Confined observations
This is all that I have
Marching single file
Down the street
Commercial human beings
Are all that I see
Staring at the screen
Clockwork machine
A technical agenda
This is more than it seems
Dark clouds rolling in
Changing our world
Dissolving who we used to be
Parallel universe
Is it as pretty on your side?
Reach for the sky
Reach for your life
External motivations
Versus internal dreams
Conflicting propaganda
No conscience is clean
Lifting the veils
Opening the blinds
An erase of memory
In due time
Universal moment
Of epic size
An awakening of the mind
Sun spots breaking through
Changing our views
And the static that was
Once between
Parallel universe
Is it as pretty on your side?
Reach for the sky
Reach for your lives
Black and white
Opposites attract
Soon there'll be nothing
Holding us back
Tearing a hole
Through the fabric of time
Opening the universe
A beautiful sight
Lifting our fears
It is increasingly clear
Perpetually in motion
Just a cog in a gear
A savage generation or
An army of ants
A sterile civilization
Always washing our hands
Slowing things down
Don't speed them up
A still-framed image
Of the righteous and just
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who's the likely one to fall?
Reach for the sky
Are we going away now
This is what we dreamed
You were right I was wrong
Crumpled paper little girl
And the hours turned to rust
The days into dust
And the years turned into forevermore
Are you still here
Writing your tragedy
The curtain is drawn the show won't go on
Please just go with me
Exhibitions
Display your misery
This behavior is worn
The contract is torn
So just let me be
We're flying along
Sitting hand and hand
A letter folded into a paper airplane
This is how we started
And you told me not to worry
This is how I feel about you still
You tear me to pieces paper girl
Whenever your wind blows
Through my fragile paper world
And I've signed your dotted line
And this heartache now is mine
You've ripped me to pieces... to pieces
Yes I miss you
And who you used to be
Something lost something found
Get this plane on the ground
She said dancing constellations
Brought us to this place
A confirmed observation
Aligned our eyes to meet
New York told me so
In a high life magazine
All the things I believed in you
New York told me so in a high life magazine
New York told me so and it's all I have to believe
And you know that we'll always feel this way
And you know that we're never going to change
Though the world will turn and stars will fade
As she walks away...
Changing constellations
Has kept us here so far
External motivations
Stretching from afar
Butterflies eat away
All the things I had to say
Just a kiss
A fiber optic sentiment
Zeros and ones scrambled
Through the switchboards
Of the atmosphere to your ear
And I know that you can hear me
With the aid of subatomic particles
My telephone rings
And the signals thrown earthward
Into my hands
Such a precious vibration
If I blew you a kiss
Would you put it in your pocket or on your lips
Or save it on your telephone
Would you miss it all together?
For the moment the outside world it dissipates
Into the sound unheard
Shooting through the satellites
I hold my breath I'm waiting...
Through the wire with digitalized urgency
Patiently...
Lips on receiver as you
Hold my world in your hands
And I know this means everything...
So I hear your voice with clarity
And I know this means everything
Hear your voice...
Is this kiss hello, goodbye
Perhaps goodnight
I'll see you again soon
You were already built and could not be erased
You were already perfect and could not be changed
You were hard to understand
But now I see your geometry; your sensitivity
You're my Jupiter star
tell me what you are
so high from the stars tonight
away from vanity
tell me what you see above
What's it like to be
What's it like to be a star tonight?
I question myself before I lay
I wonder if there's more to this play
It only lasts so much longer
You only feel so much longer from now
Echoes go through the night
Still frames go through my mind tonight
For you
For you
You're my Jupiter star
tell me what you are
so high from the stars tonight
away from vanity
tell me what you see above
What's it like to be
What's it like to be a star tonight?
You're my Jupiter
You're my Jupiter star
tell me what you are
tell me what you are
I want to see you more than the holidays
The light was about to turn
And you went ahead
Crossing over oceans
To search for the past
Please don't kid yourself
You have what you have
Oh these freeways they
Seem to have no end
Oh I'm just venting
I really hate arguments
My own bridges falling down
You're the only one for me
For you...
For me
Haunting as this may sound
I'm not afraid
You're now changing lanes
Who me?
Yeah you
Lying there in my bed
As I think of you
This connection is all I have
Don't say we're through
Frantic vessels take us down the road
Almost every day
Seems there's nowhere left to go
Pushing down ivory
To clarify my mind
Murky memories
Are you left behind
I see you
I know you do
Where are you
You'll never never know
I miss you
If you only knew
I found you
She lives for flowers everyday
When she's with me
She hides the grey
Put on your skin it's time for tea
The world lights up so quietly
You're swimming in my mind so constantly
And every other time you're all I see
I'll drink you in
When I'm in need
I'll pour you out
You're all I see
The world evolves so patiently
To clone these feelings of jubilee
Choose what my eyes are to see
Can you point the beauty out
It's raining in my heart.
The sun don't shine for me.
It's raining in my heart.
When your not here with me.
If we would ever part.
You could'nt set me free.
For always you and me.

This situation is getting grim
Is there another way out of here
Your taste for words
Is burning down doors
Is there any hope from here on out
Oh no
S.O.S.
Not again
S.O.S.
Your nuclear love
I don't care
The time has come
To choose to melt the skies
Are we all hearing impaired
Pour the blankets over me
How I cannot stand this tragedy
Iron your uniforms
We will all put them on
