Hải Phòng ( listen), also Haiphong, is the 3rd largest city in Vietnam. The name means, "coastal defence". Haiphong also names "The City of the Red Flamboyant", because there are a lot of flamboyant trees which are planted in the city. Haiphong is also the largest 1st-class city, and is an economic, industrial, commercial and educational center in Vietnam. With the advantage of having deep-watered ports, maritime transport here is very developed.
Hai Phong was originally founded by Lê Chân, the female general of a Vietnamese revolution against the Chinese led by the Trưng Sisters (Hai Bà Trưng) in the year 43 C.E. The area which is now known as Duong Kinh District was once known as Hai tan Phong thu ("defensive coastal area"), and served as the second capital of the Mac dynasty (1527–1592). At the end of Nguyen Emperor Tu Duc's reign, the headquarters of An Duong District was also moved to Hang Kenh Communal House, which now belongs to Le Chan district.
In 1881, the city was the site of a devastating typhoon which claimed up to 300,000 lives.
Cần Thơ ( listen), also Tay Do, is a city in Vietnam. The name comes from cầm thi giang - river of poems. The city, regarded as "Western capital", with an estimated population of 1,121,000 as of 2004, is the biggest city in the Mekong Delta. The city is located on the south bank of the Hậu River, the bigger branch of the Mekong River. It is 169 km from Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam’s largest city. Cần Thơ’s climate is tropical and monsoonal with two seasons: rainy, from May to November; and dry, from December to April. Average annual humidity is 83%, rainfall 1,635 mm and temperature 27 °C.
Cần Thơ City constitutes an independent municipality at the same level as provinces of Vietnam. It was created in the beginning of 2004 by a split of the former Cần Thơ Province into two new administrative units: Cần Thơ City and Hậu Giang Province.
Cần Thơ City is divided into nine districts:
It borders the provinces of An Giang, Hậu Giang, Kiên Giang, Vĩnh Long and Đồng Tháp.
Can Tho is connected to the rest of the country by National Road 1A and Can Tho Airport. The Can Tho Bridge which is now completed, is the longest cable-stayed bridge in South East Asia . The 6-lane Saigon-Can Tho Exressway is being built in parts from Ho Chi Minh City to Trung Luong of My Tho. The hydrofoil express boat links this city with Saigon.
Vietnam ( listen), formally the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam; listen), is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. With an estimated 91.5 million inhabitants as of 2012, it is the world's 13th-most-populous country, and the eighth-most-populous Asian country. The name Vietnam translates as "South Viet", and was officially adopted in 1945. The country is bordered by China to the north, Laos to the northwest, Cambodia to the southwest, and the South China Sea to the east.
The Vietnamese became independent from Imperial China in 938 AD, following the Battle of Bạch Đằng River. Successive Vietnamese royal dynasties flourished as the nation expanded geographically and politically into Southeast Asia, until the Indochina Peninsula was colonized by the French in the mid-19th century. The First Indochina War eventually led to the expulsion of the French in 1954, leaving Vietnam divided politically into two states, North and South Vietnam. Conflict between the two sides intensified, with heavy foreign intervention, during the Vietnam War, which ended with a North Vietnamese victory in 1975.
Ho Chi Minh City (Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh; listen), formerly named Saigon (Sài Gòn; listen) is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as Prey Nokor, an important Khmer sea port prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century.
Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochin-china and later of the independent state of South Vietnam from 1955–75. South Vietnam, as an anti-communist state, fought against the communist North Vietnamese and Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, with aid from the United States of America and countries including Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. Saigon fell when it was captured by the communists on 30 April 1975, bringing an end to the War with its enemy's victory. Vietnam was then turned into a communist state with the South overtaken. On 2 July 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still commonly used.)
The city center is situated on the banks of the Saigon River, 60 kilometers (37 mi) from the South China Sea and 1,760 kilometers (1,090 mi) south of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
Hanoi (Hà Nội; listen), is the capital of Vietnam and the country's second largest city. Its population in 2009 was estimated at 2.6 million for urban districts, 6.5 million for the metropolitan jurisdiction. From 1010 until 1802, it was the most important political centre of Vietnam. It was eclipsed by Huế during the Nguyen dynasty as the capital of Vietnam, but Hanoi served as the capital of French Indochina from 1902 to 1954. From 1954 to 1976, it was the capital of North Vietnam.
The city is located on the right bank of the Red River. Hanoi is located at 1,760 km (1,090 mi) north of Ho Chi Minh City.
October 2010 officially marked 1000 years since the establishment of the city.

Modern Hanoi
Hanoi has been inhabited since at least 3000 BC. One of the first known permanent settlements is the Co Loa citadel (Cổ Loa) founded around 200 BC.
Hanoi has had many names throughout history, all of them of Sino-Vietnamese origin. During the Chinese domination of Vietnam, it was known first as Long Biên, then Tống Bình (Chinese: 宋平, Sòngpíng, "Song Peace") and Long Đỗ (Chinese: 龍肚, Lóngdù, "Dragonbelly"). In 866, it was turned into a citadel and named Đại La (Chinese: 大羅, Dàluó, "Big Net").
When there's nothing left but the music
The runway rushed up at me, I felt the wheels touch down
Stood out on the blacktop, and took a taxi into town
Got off down on Main Street, to see what I recognized
All I seen was strange faces, watching a stranger passin' by
Vietnam, Vietnam, I don't man
Back in Vietnam
Went for my job back at the factory, down at the factory
The only thing I heard from the man at the desk
Is, "Son, understand if it was up to me"
'bout half the town's out of work
Ain't nothin' for you here
From the assembly line to the front-line
But I guess you didn't hear"
You died in Vietnam, you died in Vietnam
Now don't you understand, you died in Vietnam
Drive down my neighborhood
See the flags out on the porch
So I went to see my old baby
Down at First and Grand
Her mama told me she ran off
With a singer in a rock 'n' roll band
????
I can see me passin' by
You died in Vietnam, you died in Vietnam
Boy, don't you understand, you died in Vietnam
The runway rushed up at me, I felt the wheels hit down
I stood out on the blacktop, and took a taxi into town
Got off down on Main Street, to see what I could see
All I seen was strangers, watchin' a stranger pass by
And that stranger was me
Vietnam, Vietnam, oh-no man
Vietnam
Went to see my baby, down on First and Grand
To tell her I'd come home from away in Vietnam
Her mama came to the door and told me
Her mama told me she ran away
With a singer in a rock 'n' roll band
She said, "I'm sorry son, but we understand"
You died in Vietnam, you died in Vietnam
Vietnam Vietnam, everybody cryin' about Vietnam
Vietnam Vietnam, everybody cryin' about Vietnam
The law all the days (?) killing me down in Mississippi,
nobody seems to give a damn
Oh God if you can hear my prayer now, please help my
brothers over in Vietnam
Oh God if you can hear my prayer now, please help my
brothers over in Vietnam
The poor boys fightin', killin' and hidin' all in holes,
Maybe killin' their own brother, they do not know
Mister President you always cry about peace, but you must
clean up your house before you leave
Oh how you cry about peace, but you must clean up your
house before you leave
How can you tell the world how we need peace, and you
i wanted to fight so i went to war
i thought it was right
to fight for my country
but then i saw the torture
i saw the misery the pain and the dead
and i was wounded now i'm paralyzed
all this has changed my point of view
i shot enemies now i know they are humans
i shot civilists now i know i'm a murderer
i had time to think now i want to tell
those young men who want to be soldiers
who want to fight in a war for their country
that i've seen it that i'm a victim of war
and that i don't want them to do
the same mistake
every time i close my eyes
i can hear the screams
i can see the dead and the fire
i don't want them to see the things i saw
i want to tell them they needn't to be
soldiers to be men
and i've learned that love and forgiveness
is better than hate and war
but now those people who sent me
to their war forbid me to speak
about the love about the pleasure
my eyes still burn from the bodies all around,
my ears still ringing from the awful sound of your last words, walking away.
still i'm left remembering the day you left me for dead.
so can you see the outcome?
did you count the cost?
and is it heavier than hell?
is it heavier than hell?
these desperate hands reach for the sky,
looking for escape before my heart breaks.
arriving one day too late on the sun bleached shore,
we've been digging our graves from the day we were born.
a brave new world wrapped up in clouds of smoke,
if i survive, what do i carry home?
so can you see the outcome?
did you count the cost?
and is it heavier than hell?
and is it worth the loss?
we're already dead, we're already dead,
carry me home, just carry me home.
i wanna know, i wanna know: if i survive, what do i carry home?
[Saukrates]
I'm loving the weather in this damn neighbourhood
Hot, like fire, everything females looking good, ain't it
My nigga Freddy agrees, we near fainted
(Not knowing that my face portrait was being painted)
(That very same day)
Anyways we chilling on the stoop shooting the breeze
Arguing about who was the illest MC
Verbally slapped my nigga, saying player it's Jay-Z
My moms cuts it short, sending me to the A&P;
Supplies for supper, quart of milk, loaf of bread and a stick of butter
You're damn right, I was making beats for A's(?) last night
And you know them vets make you work up an appetite
Split, jump in the Ac, it's deaded in the back
Won't start, pumping them tracks killed my battery
Mad at me, errrr, nigga hit the brakes
Dud I live for them Camelo and PF Cuttin' tapes
Can't forget what Clue got, Tony Touch and Doo Wop
Kid we can walk it's only five from my crib
And anyway my nigga Jay who got my Mastermind joint
Stay on the way to the grocery point
Be back soon momma say
(Not knowing that my face portrait was being painted)
(That very same day)
Walking, talking, Mrs. Johnson is on her lawn
Sunbathing so we honkin', errh
She the finest forty-something I seen in nine lives
Not even Mr. Johnson believe she forty-five
That's why I've made the pledge, no more chickenheads
Let me ride with you big girl, keeping me well feed
Here come the ice cream trucks, some kids playing double dutch
Looking ill but too young to touch
Then one child said, yo Big Sox when's the album due kid?
It's out stupid, I want to form a neighbourhood B
Like a Vietnam camp in '73, seperated from society
Hit the corner, there's my nigga Jay eyeing me
Motherfucker where my tape at? Lie to me!
And I'mma brake that, you let's take a walk
I'mma get it on my way back, we gotta talk
I heard one of them coons from the other side of the block
Was fucking with you over some bullshit
And pulled clips illigitly
{Yo he acted shifty because my crib's where his chick be hangin dude}
Ignore that shit G and keep that thang banging, in everyway
(Not knowing that my face portrait was being painted)
(That very same day)
We gets to the A, and P Jay's smoking so them niggas wait for me
I'm standing in the express line and what do I see?
Through the window, that same coon and his kinfolk
Everything turned slow motioned and muted
In my mind while I saw these niggas creep up from behind
I see one pull a nine, I scream TURN AROUND!
Too late, my nigga Jay's brain stained the ground
They kicked my nigga Freddy in the gut saying what
Now motherfucker, your man's nothing but a memory
And hits him with another sucker punch
Fuck the lunch, today I'm killing the bunch
I run outside with one nigga lie dead
The other bleedin' from the head
Grab the gat Jay had strapped on the inside of his leg
Yo Freddy just chill, I'm about to retaliate
Ill visions of murder, blowe
Fuck it now it's time to kill
Cock back, I'm prepared for action
Becoming one with Samuel L. Jackson
Turn the corner, I see them niggas running away
Hit the shortcut, I'm waiting at his crib
I'mma end this shit today
Look, here he comes now
I've never felt pressure like this before
Debating, whether I should blast on site
Or wait 'til the motherfucker puts the key in the door
Creep up on a nigga with God's hand
On the hair pintrigger, forgive me momma
but I'm going to be a little late with the groceries
I mean, you know diner's just going to have to wait
Turn around motherfucker!

When I came back from Saigon
Everyone turned their head
No one put their hand out
No one shared their bread
I lost my wife, I lost my job, I lost my brother too
Blue collar kids got nothing to do with it
Nightmares of jungles and M-16's
Hippies give me shit in my army greens
Now I'm running the streets of Birmingham
25 years since Vietnam
Some pull jobs some pull scams
But I'm just doing the best I can
Well it's very hard to realize that there's no love no more
The day I got on the plane was the day that I left the war
Arrived in Heatheron on a red eye flight
Down Kellet road I scored for the night
I took the tube through London town
When I woke up I was on mid land ground
Running the streets of Birmingham
25 years since Vietnam
Some pull jobs and some pull scams
But I'm just doing the best I can.
Wear that dress
Put your make-up on
Its so cold
Wear something warm
Your daddy was in Vietnam
Your mother worked at the church
Your sisters still in jail
For steeling somebody's purse
If you'r not scared
Can we dance?
Because I can't move
Without your hands
Guiding me across the sea of cars
We really need more
I feel cold
Hands on silk
Jesus Christ
Feels so real
Your daddy was in Vietnam
Your mother worked at the church
Your sisters still in jail
For steeling somebody's purse
If I die today
Will you always be my friend?
Because if I never died
I would always be your man
It gets so close
But no one lets in
Burning neighborhoods
Empty parking lots
Hotel in the back
Near the forest
Common let me in
Let it all begin
Common lift me up
Common wake up
Because
I wont let you down
I wont let you down
I wont let you down
(Verse)
To say that I'm a man undone
Is understatement at its worst.
I was completely incapacitated
By your southern charm.
It hit me like an ancient gypsy curse.
But this instrument you use with such precision--
It's like a concrete wall
A thousand meters tall.
And I've tried to climb its icy walls a million times,
But I simply cannot find inside of me
The requisite resolve.
(Chorus)
Your silence is a weapon.
It's like a nuclear bomb.
It's like the Agent Orange
They used to use in Vietnam.
And it's accompanied by an apathy
That's deafening to the ears.
You know it is complete and perfect,
And you wield it without fear.
(Verse)
It isn't complicated; you just don't care.
You attack me by not saying anything.
You say that you don't bring your anger to me,
But it poisons every fiber of your being.
Now you started something that you cannot finish,
And left me standing in the wreckage on my own.
And the only thing that brings me any comfort
Is the knowledge is that, no matter who you're with,
You'll always be alone.
(Chorus) x2
Your silence is a weapon.
It's like a nuclear bomb.
It's like the Agent Orange
They used to use in Vietnam.
And it's accompanied by an apathy
That's deafening to the ears.
You know it is complete and perfect,
