Vieng Xai, Laos -- A new phone unit gets a close inspection. My friend Noy recently took a job with a mobile phone company called Unitel, and he was working crazy hours going from village to village in Houaphanh Province, pushing phones and SIM cards using a bullhorn mounted on the basket of his motorbike. I went with him on a few sales calls, and it was remarkable how many people would roll out of their simple bamboo houses with a fat roll of currency, ready to buy a mobile without hesitation.
