Hot Creations in The Lab LDN. Mixmag's weekly office rave up. Richy Ahmed, Patrick Topping and wAFF. Big Lab! Hot Creations: http://hotcreations.com Richy Ahmed 'Sneaky Acid' http://bit.ly/13xmezW Richy Ahmed originally started as an A&R; for the label and resident for Jamie Jones' Paradise party. A string or killer releases including ‘Sneaky Acid’ and ‘The Drums’ coupled with quality sets at DC10, Glastonbury, Panorama Bar and Bestival have helped shaped the Geordie into one of the most sought-after DJs on the circuit. Fellow Geordie Patrick Topping is another Hot Creations regular who’s well and truly smashed it on all fronts in the past year. One of our breakout DJs of Ibiza, his track ‘Forget’ was played in pretty much every major club on the island. He followed up this fine work with a brilliant collaboration with Green Velvet titled 'Voicemail' and further showed he’s certainly no flash-in-the-pan act. Last but by no means least is wAFF. One of the freshest talents to have emerged from the UK in recent years, his take on house and techno is as classy as we’ve heard in a long time. Smashers such as 'Jo Johnson' and 'Rainbows' (both on Hot Creations) have catapulted him into the record bags of the likes of Loco Dice, Sven Väth and Luciano. This week's Lab kicks of at 4.30 GMT on Wednesday and you can tune in below or on MixmagTV. Check out Richy Ahmed’s most recent release and Hot Creations 50th EP Sneaky Acid here. wAFF is due to release his latest work for the label in early 2015 and you can see Patrick Topping and Richy Ahmed on Boxing Day at Motion
More on Hot Since 82 here: http://www.hotsince82.com Order 'Knee Deep In Sound' here: http://smarturl.it/KneeDeepInSound Streamed from the Want Electronic Studio 1460 http://wantickts.co/wantelectronic http://www.wantelectronic.com The Lab LA is our weekly post-work party where we stream the finest American and international DJs from the heart of Hollywood. For this special edition to celebrate the release of his new mix album 'Knee Deep In Sound' we took Hot Since 82 to the Want Electronic Studios, at the top of the CNN Tower. In a few short years, Daley Padley's moniker Hot Since 82 has become synonymous with top-drawer, low-riding house music. The Leeds-based producer/DJ's stock has been on the rise in the underground British deep house scene since 2011, when he broke out with a string of great releases, such as 'Let It Ride' (Noir Music) and 'Knee Deep in Louise' (ITH). The last year has seen him rack up a Beatport number one with his remix of Green Velvet's 'Bigger Than Prince', a superb Essential Mix, and a cover feature on Mixmag's April 2014 issue. In case you missed it, you can listen to Hot Since 82's cover CD here. This Lab:LA coincides with the release of Daley's new mix album ‘Knee Deep in Sound’, which includes four exclusive tracks and new material from a variety of up-and-coming acts such as Moodtrap, Exacta and Kamero. The album will be released November 17 via his label Knee Deep in Sound/Ultra, and you can pre-order it here. The Lab LA is powered by Void Acoustics, and you'll be able to watch the Hot Since 82 takeover on Mixmag TV.

Hosted by curator Rob Da Bank and to give you an insight into what the Skreamism stage will hold this year, we welcome both Skream and Derrick Carter. Skream is one of the most in-demand DJs to have emerged from the UK in recent memory and and was one of our stars of 2013. He returns for his second appearance in The Lab. Since his last set he's remixed the likes of Duke Dumont and Rudimental, put out a great Miami mix with Pete Tong and played at Ibiza's DC:10. Chicago house leviathan Derrick Carter is quite simply one of the greats. His sets are as edifying as they are electrifying, taking in underground house, soul, jazz and, of course, disco. His own 'Derrick Carter Does Disco' sessions have had dancefloor aficionados begging for more. This year Derrick makes up a big chunk of the Skreamizm line-up to and he's promised to dig deep into his crate of disco classics both this week and at Bestival come September. This week's session will be hosted by Bestival's curator Rob da Bank. Rob and team Bestival have once again compiled another outstanding line-up featuring the likes of Outkast, Chic Ft Nile Rodgers, Disclosure, Sven Väth and many more. Tune in below or on MixmagTV from 4.30pm GMT and you can also catch Livio & Roby in the Lab from 3.30pm GMT. Route 94 and Horse Meat Disco make up the rest of the Skreamism stage, which you can find in the notorious Bollywood Tent on September 5. More info and tickets to Bestival can be found here.

This week's Mixmag lab guarantees to be a musical master class as two truly fantastic producers, both of whom are playing Eastern Electrics Festival, step up to the plate. Guy Gerber has been responsible for making some of the most gripping, melodic and dance floor driven beats for over a decade. This was epitomized in his Fabric 64 mix and even more recently in his latest track 'Claire' which you can listen to here. We also welcome the fantastic Francesca Lombardo. Having played alongside artists such as Sven Väth, Agoria and Tobi Neumann, and having recently released on the prolific Crosstown Rebels, her set guarantees to join the dots between house and techno to full effect. Watch below or on MixmagTV from 4pm GMT on April 5 for the perfect gateway into what looks set to be one of the top events of the summer.

TJR's big bounce house sound has seen him whip up a worldwide fan base and headline the biggest dance music festivals across the globe. His collaboration with Pitbull for ‘Don’t Stop the Party’ took the charts by storm and since then he’s gone onto work with a whole host of names including Vinai and Chris Lake whilst holding down a residency at Las Vegas’ Surrender. GTA’s Julio Mejia and Matt Toth are on a mission to create something impossible and shove every single category of dance music into one. Their approach quickly received attention from Afrojack’s label Wall Recordings, which then lead to collaborations with Diplo and A-Trak, tours with Rihanna, Calvin Harris and Tiesto and remixes for the likes of Deadmau5 and Iggy Azalea. Watch these two titans thrown down a very special back 2 back set in our LA Lab powered by Void Acoustics.

Skiddle 2015-02-07Mixmag is a British electronic dance music and clubbing magazine. It styles itself as "the world's biggest selling dance music magazine", with an Audit Bureau of Circulations (UK) audited circulation of approximately 21,250 (01 Jan 2010 - 31 Dec 2010). Launched in 1982 in the United Kingdom, Mixmag covers dance events, and reviews music and club nights.
The first issue was printed on February 1, 1983 as a 16-page black and white magazine published by Disco Mix Club — the DJ mailout service. The first cover was Shalamar, the first editor DMC’s Tony Prince and the first advertiser was a company called Technics Panasonic.
When house music began, editor and DJ Dave Seaman turned the magazine from a newsletter for DJs to a magazine covering all dance music and club culture. Mixmag covered acid house, the subsequent rave era, the rise of superstar DJs and Ibiza[clarification needed]. The magazine claims to have coined the terms superclub and trip hop and to have launched the first legal DJ mix tapes, the Mixmag Live series. Later Mixmag, in association with their original publishing company, DMC Publishing, released a series of CDs under the "Mixmag Live" heading.
Paul Mark Oakenfold (born 30 August 1963) is an English record producer and a trance DJ.
Paul Oakenfold was set to be a chef, after having hopes of becoming part of a band. He describes his early life as a "bedroom deejay" in a podcasted interview with Vancouver's 24 Hours, stating he grew up listening to The Beatles. Later 21-year-old Oakenfold and Ian Paul moved to 254 West 54th Street. Studio 54's Steve Rubell ran the place and only allowed popular people inside. Oakenfold and Paul used fake passes to sneak into places in New York where they met Maze, Bobby Womack and Bob Marley, whom they also interviewed, claiming to be NME and Melody Maker journalists.
Oakenfold's musical career began in the late 1970s, when he started playing soul in a Covent Garden wine bar. Here, he met Trevor Fung as well as Rumours in London where he played Earth, Wind and Fire and popular British bands. In 1984, he spent several months in New York City's West Harlem. During this time hip-hop was the most popular sound in the area (see 1984 in music). He began breaking into the mainstream as he was working as an A&R man for Champion Records. At that time, he signed DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, as well as Salt-n-Pepa. Oakenfold appeared on the Blue Peter BBC programme for children with a breakdancing crew. He became a promoter and British agent for the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C.. Since then, he appeared at The Project in Streatham playing soul and jazz music.
Guy Gerber (born in 1975 in Holon, near Tel Aviv) is an electronic DJ/producer and musician who specializes in making music with synthesizers and live instrumentation in the techno scene and beyond. Gerber regularly DJs across the globe at events in Detroit, Berlin, Ibiza and the UK.
At the age of 15, Gerber was a member of the Israeli Under-16 national football team but soon developed the passion for music and found himself drawn to English guitar acts like Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine. Consequently, his harmonic, shoe-gaze inspired sound was a style that saw Gerber record for various European electronic labels including ‘Stoppage Time’ for John Digweed’s Bedrock imprint.
Gerber’s first full length album ‘Late Bloomers’ was released on Sven Väth’s Cocoon imprint in June 2007 and featured two worldwide club hits in ‘Belly Dancing’ and ‘Sea Of Sand’ which he recorded with his Israeli production friend Shlomi Aber. In addition to his productions, Guy also found time to remix New Order and Dominik Eulberg as well as setting up his own label Supplement Facts. More recently, he’s remixed ‘The L Word’ by Deniz Kurtel and ‘Hungry For The Power’ by Azari & III.
