Northern Outlook

The Northern Outlook is proud of its focus on the Northern Canterbury community and serves this area with local news, sport and advertising.  The Northern Outlook is the communities watchdog with our news columns emphasising local interests and issues including extensive coverage of sports, both major and minor codes.  We publish local stories about local people and businesses.  Our advertising columns are rich in classifieds and local retail advertisements promoting particularly business in the North Canterbury area.  The Northern Outlook is delivered twice weekly on Saturday morning and Wednesday afternoon to homes and rural boxes in the Waimakariri and Hurunui districts.

The Northern Outlook is proud to be the complete guide to what is happening in the Waimakariri and Hurunui Districts.  We serve these districts by communicating the latest local news, property and sport events.  Acting as the community's watchdog we emphasise local issues and interests including an extremely lively "Letters to the Editor" column.   Published every Wednesday and Saturday in full colour 21,941 copies of the Northern Outlook are delivered directly to homes and rural box holders in the Waimakariri and Hurunui Districts.  Readership for the Northern Outlook is an impressive  36,000 people on a Wednesday and 30,000 people on a Saturday.   The Northern Outlook's strength is to connect with the community;  it conveys relevant in-depth and engaging news on what is happening in your district, at your local shopping centre or on your street.

The Northern Outlook enables local advertisers to connect with local readers with the ability to reach only the relevant catchment area for your business. Our advertising columns are rich in classifieds and local retail promoting the North Canterbury area as a business hub.

Newspaper Display Advertising
Display advertising is located throughout the publication and utilises size, colour, illustration and typography to attract the reader's attention. Display advertising is primarily found in the editorial sections but can also be placed within classified sections if deemed appropriate and relevant.

You can request a preferred position within the newspaper for a fee or choose "run of paper" whereby the advertisement is placed in any position in the paper at our discretion. Opting for run of paper generally results in a reduced charge to an advertiser.

Classified Advertising
Classifieds are advertising only pages across a number of different categories e.g for sale, trade services or situations vacant.

Standard Sizes:

Run of Paper from 4cm deep to 7 columns (26.2 cm) wide, up to 37cm x 7 col.

Classified from 2cm deep to 8 columns (37.70) wide.

Premium Positions:

Advertisers are able to purchase, subject to availability, front page, solus, premium and unique positions.  Size, availability and price are subject to request and availability.
