The Dargaville & Districts News was founded in 1992 and has since become a well respected community newspaper serving readers in the Kaipara and surrounding districts.  Original owner, Peter Martin, published and distributed the paper until it was sold to Independent Newspapers Ltd (INL) in 2000.  It came under the management of Independent Community Newspapers Ltd (ICN), based in Pukekohe, which already managed two other Northland newspapers - Northern News and The Bay Chronicle.

INL was sold to Fairfax Media in July 2003 and since July 2004 the Dargaville & Districts News has been managed by Suburban Newspapers Ltd.

Dargaville is the principal centre of what is a predominantly rural area. It is also the world's centre for kumara growing.

The Circulation area includes all of the Kaipara district including Dargaville, Te Kopuru, Ruawai, Paparoa, Maungaturoto to Mangawhai and all rural areas.  To the north as far as Waipoua, south to Pouto and to Tangiteroria and Mangawhai in the east.

Newspaper Display Advertising

Display advertising is located throughout the publication and utilises size, colour, illustration and typography to attract the reader's attention. Display advertising is primarily found in the editorial sections but can also be placed within classified sections if deemed appropriate and relevant.

You can request a preferred position within the newspaper for a fee or choose "run of paper" whereby the advertisement is placed in any position in the paper at our discretion. Opting for run of paper generally results in a reduced charge to an advertiser.
