The Marlborough Province is famous for its wine, its seafood and its
tourism attractions, giving it the well deserved title of "The Gourmet
Province". With a resident population of 46,167 people, there are 17,841
homes in the Marlborough and Kaikoura regions. The region is diverse,
with wine, pastoral farming, forestry and marine farming the biggest
industries. Our beautiful Marlborough Sounds along with the wine
industry provide a strong attraction to tourists from all over the
world.
Based in Blenheim, The Marlborough Express published its
first newspaper in 1866. The Marlborough Express is delivered to homes
throughout the province - Kaikoura in the south, through to Blenheim,
Picton, The Marlborough Sounds and west over to Rai Valley.
The
paper is published Monday to Friday on broadsheet and has a free tabloid on Wednesdays (The Marlborough Midweek) and another on Saturdays
(The Saturday Express), plus the weekly Kaikoura Star published on
Wednesdays. The Marlborough Express is full of local news, national and
international news, with many lively features while The Saturday Express
delivers a softer, people-focused read and Marlborough Midweek is
wholeheartedly about grassroots community news. Additional specialty
publications include a weekly Marlborough Property Express, and the
"Discover the Top of the South" and Experience Kaikoura visitor
information publication.
Illustrating its strong community
connection, The Marlborough Express connects with 21,000 or 55% of those
living within its respective circulation area.
