It quickly became a commercial success, peaking at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a month after its release. She became the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. He starts looking at me and bobbing his head,". He left a demo-tape as well. Two years later, West finally signed Big Sean to GOOD Music.

Now I'm watching
My friends slip away
Watching them stray
I'd give anything
To have them back
To my friends
I'll be there for you
Be there for me
I'll watch them drift away
Drift
I'll watch them slip away
I slip when eat, I slip when I slip.
Fall down to my knees I slip when I seem.
I slip when I see you, kick when I fall through,
I slip when I seem, I slip when I
See you coming step aside (you step aside)
And I slip when I see you coming every time (it's every time)
I slip when I need, I slip when I feed.
Emphatic disease I slip when I seem.
I slip through the meaning, tripped on the feeling.
I slip when I seem, I slip when I
See you coming step aside (you step aside)
And I slip when I see you coming every time (it's every time)
It's every time you do what's right,
you step aside - I said you kick it.
Keep myself in a modern mind.
You can't break us don't waste your time,
You can't take us to severed scenes,
Kill yourself on the medicines.
And I slip when I see you coming step aside (you step aside)
I shoulda called but it was late and you were sleeping, my dear
I would hate for you to hear what I was putting you through
I'm tryin' hard to be the man I know that you think I am
I'm really glad you weren't there but now I wish you were here
Cuz we're so wonderful
And so untouchable
And just when I thought it was under control
Everything just starts to...
The pillow burns I toss & turn from all of the things I say
You should've known better than to ever listen to me
Slip
Right through my fingers
Finding it's way to the tips
Well I'll try and forget
But all that I taste is your lips
Cryin' & kissin' me
We're so wonderful
And so untouchable
You're the biggest part of me
We're so wonderful
And so untouchable
And just when I thought it was under control
Everything....
Sitting, attractively bored
I guess I had this coming, it’s been a long time coming
Casually she kills me, attractively bored
I leave too much unsaid, I leave too much unsaid
You’ve got the sand in the palm of your hand
Don’t let it slip away
Regret haunts forever, don’t try to be clever
To shatter these weak walls
And finally he approaches, the one he’s watched so long
He musters up his courage, hello
Then he turns around and heads back to the daily life he knows
When a tap upon his shoulder, hello
Sweating, my swagger ignored
And I’m swaying on the border, got to get my life in order
Casually she stills me, attractively scarred
If when running from the flood
It overtakes you.
Crushed by slow waterfalls and such
The ocean breaks you.
Let go of everything you know
And love and fear
Let go of everything you know
And disappear.
If you've been rolling with a crowd
Who want to save you
And all you want is to forget
Every speech they gave you.
Let go of everything you know
And love and fear
Let go of everything you know
And disappear.
If you disappear without a trace:
A.) They won't give chase.
B.) No hearts will break.
C.) As some must do.
D.) Take me with you.

Again and I've been here before
Bled, again the machine turns out more
Blackened from the dirt
My vision seared and blurred
Here beneath the wheel
My face against the steel
Clutching at the earth
Where is my support
Falling into line
Is losing what is mine
Falling into line
Losing what is mine
Here beneath the wheel
What once burned so violent in your heart.
Is now a cold, hard, distant, calloused part of you.
What you embrace is what you become.
And I can see in your face the things you used to run from.
So much to belong to, so much to pursue
So much to consume, so much to consume you
You will get burned, when you touch a flame
I guess you've learned that from the pain.
Are you so bold as to think that you can go on this way?
All alone in a world that left you cold.
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another
Brother to brother, if you lose your grip.
And as air is to a fire, so we will be to each other
One to another, if I start to slip.
What once burned so violent in your heart.
Is now a cold, hard, distant, calloused part of you.
What you embrace is what you become.
And I can see in your face the things you used to run from.
Are you so bold as to think that you can go on this way?
Here's another speech you wish I'd swallow
Another cue for you to fold your ears
Another train of thought too hard to follow
Chugging along to the song that belongs to
The shifting of gears
Please forgive me for my distance
The pain is the evident in my existence
Please forgive me for my distance
The shame is manifest in my resistance
To your love, to your love, to your love
I would've warned you, but really, what's the point?
Caution could but rarely ever helps
Don't be down when my demeanor tends to disappoint
It's hard enough even trying to be civil to myself
Please forgive me for my distance
The pain is evident in my existence
Please forgive me for my distance
The shame is manifest in my resistance
to your love love, to your love, to your love
My derring-do allows me to dance the rigadoon
Around you
But by the time I'm close to you, I lose
My desideratum and now you, so
Now you have it, so baby tell me what's the word?
Am I your gal, or should I get out of town?
I just need to be reassured
Do you just deal it out, or can you deal with
What I lay down?
Please forgive me, for my distance
The pain is evident in my existence
Please forgive me for my distance
The shame is manifest in my resistance
Slip oooooh uh
Let me talk to you for a minute
I'm like baby,
Where did your love go, yeeah
You say that I got it,
But it's so dam hard to believe, yeeah
I said baby
Where did you manners go, yeeah
You used to open doors
And I adored your curtesy
Yeah, yeeaah
So if you really really really
Wanna stay in ma bed,
You got to win me over again
(Chorus)
Why did you let it slip, uh (slip)
Bring your love back to me (back to me)
You put your heart back in it
Say it like ya mean it
That's how it used to be
Why did you let it slip, uh (slip)
Give me that tlc (give it back to me)
And put your mind back on it
Do it like I want it
That's how it used to be
Why did you let it slip uh
Uh, I'm like baby
Where did that charm go, yeaah
Uh, you used to say I'm pretty
Gimme all the nitty gritty I need
Oh yeeaheheheh
I said baby, (ooh)
Where did your style go, yeeah
Uh, you used to be on top of your game
And now you look unclean
Oh yeeaheheheh
So if you really really really
Wanna stay in ma pants
You got to do better than that
(Chorus)
Baby, where did ma smile go, yeeah
You used to cheer me up
And now I'm tearyer than ten babies (ten babies)
Oooh maybe,
Maybe you're swimming on the other side, yeeaha
It's hard to believe that
You could ever get enough of me,
Yeeeeeah
(Chorus x2)
Love is homeless
Where is
Love is shapeless
Who needs
Love is dangerous
Love is true
The more you give the soft machine
The more you give the song
I would live for you with all my
Give to you with all my
Daggers and swollen kisses
And so that is proof that love is death
There's no ear that would or could Listen to all there is to say
About small wooden toys
Or broken shells, tiny bells or songs about a lady
The more you clean the soft machine
The more you lead me on
I would live for you with all my
Give to you with all my
Daggers and swollen kisses
Who do you think you're fooling with those brown eyes?
Everybody lying
You're a lonely boy
Feeling so alone from what you've made
Come back
Show us what you're making
You're committed now
Evolutionary
You can crack the code
You can pass the moon but not the sky
You do laundry on the corner
In a daydream
Spitting in the water
To a lullaby
Wash them out
Hang them out to dry
Why's she always getting dirty?
Your apoligies
Always come to early
She's a lonely girl
Feeling so alone from what she's made of
Who do you think you're fooling wth those brown eyes?
Everybody lying
You're a lonely boy
There's a tremor on this highway
Like a tower that can only fall
Cause when you build it on the blood of another nation
It's a true indictment of us all
Let the singer be born
From the fabric of our greater need
And let the words and you carry each other
And build, oh brother I will
This debt
How could you think that I'd forget
I'm thinking Love and tears
Love and Tears
Will stay here til this darkness disappears
Once I met a wicked man
He smiled shyly as he offered me some sweetbread
And I never knew he was grandpa
Til I found my mother crying by the bed
Let the strong wind blow through me reason
Let the stars renew my weary eyes
You're my friend, I'll say it again
And by then I think you won't be so surprised
This said
Don't make me jump right out of bed
Forsaking love and tears
Love and tears
Will stay until this darkness disappears
This debt
I know John Lennon won't forget
I'm thinking love and tears
Love and tears
Will stay until this darkness disappears
Will stay until this darkness disappears
You're not the only one
who thinks they're the only one
to feel this numb
inspite of the distance you've come.
Light comes in through the eyes
it's something that you recognize
but you've ignored
cause nobody told you what to ask for.
The heart is a wilderness
with beauty and emptiness
that you endure
cause you never can be sure
And it rolls and it tumbles forwards
And it pushes the envelope
Cause it's nowhere and everywhere
And it's breaking your heart to watch it
In case you're the only one
nobody else's child
stay here you're mine
there's gotta be something you can find here.
It hurt so you took it out
you're gonna work it out
no visible line
could possibly define
And it's hiding up there in the clouds
Like a child in the need of protection
And it keeps you as long as you behave
And it molds you till it's all you are
And it pushes the envelope
As it freezes your need to reconnect
And you're prone to depend upon it
You were just a baby
I was four years old
Playing war on my tricycle
When daddy got home, I'd jump into his arms
Somewhere in America time stood still
For two little people on opposite hills
And how were they to know?
But time moves quickly when you're standing in place
Eat the same old breakfast, with the same old face,
They send you off to school
Before I could see you
I was seeing a wholesome need for protection in everyone's soul
I was not unique
Now, I think to be seventy-four with an old screen door
And a woman like you to walk through
Would be alright with me
I wanna lay with you under full moon glow
Stay warm in my sleeping bag,
Lay down low
You ease my way of mind
Everything about you is bringing me joy
I could spend long hours
Be your water boy
You know, you know
Where I'll be found
Somewhere in the universe time stood still
For the man who remembered the boy on the hill
How was I, how was I to know?
And now,
I think to be seventy-four with an old screen door
And a woman like you to walk through to would be-
I, I think to be seventy-four with an old screen door
And a woman like you to walk through to would be alright
I think to be seventy-four with an old screen door
It's a sidewalk symphony/roadside suite.
It's the trash-bag canopies on Eldert St.
It's the blue hum broadcast through a common radio
voices... singing... hard-times... rumors(stories)of creation.
In trusting the impersonal much sacredness is lost.
Most enlist and thus have missed the kiss extracted from the dust.
And I've listened since my patience began
and it glistens in the distance, standing in the footprint
where I found my lover lost.
Though it makes me tremble all these thoughts
that I assemble fall like droplets in an ocean,
waves surging, yet balanced like the tides.
Mine is for the taking, every note that I am shaking
falls like waves all around you.
What colors have you sought from the demons of the world
Segregated rhythms on the Bayou banks, the pearls of injustice
the way the blacksmith pounds the heated rod,
patience, the hammer knows.
Thrice you have rescued me from falling grace;
once when I was a beggar and you were the rain on my face,
once when I was crippled and you carried me,
and once when the blindness of others taught me how to see.
Staring at the green that surrounds my pupils leaving
bulletholes in the glass--the glass I was trained to see
myself in, through two-dimensional bulletholes.
I remember walking from the market to the park,
streetlights flickered and your eyes grew dark.
Paint me a picture darling, I'll put you in it.
In the hands of warlords the concrete turns to prison yards
and the corporate mind is pointing towards the capitalizing
off ignorance, indifference, exploiting our inheritance.
Lightning over the motel in Sioux Falls, South Dakota-
the watchman checks a fuse. With his stoic black hair
and his blue/green eyes--more energy than we know how to use.
Here it doesn't matter how many mirrors you had to
shatter on your way to get here--what colors have you
bought from the demons of the world?
Wider than a river and deeper still, the wounds of cruelty
will heal themselves, I know they will.
Well I often think about her when
the night comes and I'm walking the road.
And I know I'd never trace her,
I can barely begin to barely place
her chronologically. Just a flurry of white
dresses and second guesses,
now lesses which martyr me.
If I'd really think about it,
it's all I'd ever think about.
My land lord,
has been shooting bullets into paper birds.
Heh, when he's drunk, he's immaculate,
especially before noon. What I'm trying to do,
with these paper birds is to
find a better way to lead one that's more accurate.
And I'll practice my aim,
and I'll masculine my game,
and I'll know songs well before
it leaves my lips.
When the lady finished crying I knew
I had to say something to comfort her.
But I all I've learned from love,
is that what you love can be what
destroyes you. Loves just a flower fading
congradulating your vanity's champion.
It's the blood I want to shed before old or even dead. x4
My land lord, has been shooting,
bullets into paper birds.
And he's last, of a dying breed.
A pharmisist with wings.
What I'm trying to do with these paper birds,
is to find a way to lead one that's more accurate.
And I'll take, these targets that
I hit they can go on,
Even the rats know when troubles gonna come
To the edge of the city see the little guys run
I hear spring is nice in Canada
Maybe the men up on capitol hill
Need a little less Jack and a little more Jill
You can have my stereo
Even though the race may never be won
I can lay like a dandy gettin' heavy in the sun
Take a love song and beautify
(Waoh waoh waoh)
I hear the words but the meaning gets lost
It's a game, it depends on who the ball gets tossed
It's the same ball anyway
You're tuggin' me know cut me loose or take me on
You can play, you can pay the piper all night long
That's some good home cookin'
Even though the race may never be won
I can lay like a dandy gettin' heavy in the sun
Take a love song and beautify
(Waoh waoh waoh)
**alternate line in second verse:
If you can hear me now
Then you're halfway there
Just a jump from your window
Fly naked through the air
slipping into the grip of something
that i can't control
try to escape it
but i just slip again
and lose control
i slipped again and lost control
every good thing goes away
i'm left with empty hands
desperation setting in
i slip again and lose my mind
i slipped again and lost my mind
lose control
i just lost control
slipping
from
[No one twisting his arm]
I should have spent tonight out finding some good ledge
It's time to look at long shots, the cheap end of the wedge
You used to hear our fights half a block away
I'm wondering now which ones I could have lost to make her stay
I call a friend of mine and say haven't heard a thing
The world has made you tired, wound down the driving spring
He says you're still a child and I hope you never change
But I can't jump at every chance that's moving out of range
Second hand slow now
I don't know how
Hours got right of way
On the verge of a perfect day
The slate I got clean won't stay clean long
And the love I got over won't stay gone
But the pain of the slip through fingers lingers on
Run the blacktop circuit, find the ethnic buys
Who is going to love this place when the trade route dies
Gassed to make the coast homes, roll the windows tight
Young men it's not your concern where money spends the night
New top guns I say glad to shake your hand
Lots don't get so lucky and luck is what will stand
Find you've got no grip on anything that lasts
All you party boys had best get serious and fast
Hearts at each side go
High now then low
What will make the race?
Maybe leaving without a trace
The slate I got clean won't stay clean long
And the love I got over won't stay gone
But the pain of the slip through fingers lingers on
The slate I got clean won't stay clean long
And the love I got over won't stay gone
But the pain of the slip through fingers lingers on
Black and White, red and blue, you knew I loved you, you were taken away
Before I could say what I needed to say, so many memories I wish we coulda
Had, it's too fuckin bad that this makes me so fuckin sad makes me so
Fuckin mad, but bad people do bad things, you may kill the body but you
Will never kill the soul.
It's Unfair, It's Despair, the tear in my heart, wish the pain wouldn't
Start, you're the part of me that I need, how can I succeed when all my
Demons stampede towards me, It's Unfair, It's Despair
Lunatics in the world, bad people do bad things, there's nothing you can
Do, but sit back and watch as evil puts another notch in it's belt and sends
My girl to heaven for no apparent reason the devils never ceasin, she's in
A better place though, no longer living in fear, my dear if you say
Anything just know that'll I'll hear, I was given eyes by god to see and
Now I truly believe in my darkest time that everything will be ok
Chorus
Bawling my eyes out because I took you for granted, my view on this life is
Pretty slanted, stopped you from doing what Dan did, but I wasn't there for
You when you needed me, I never told you that you completed me, but I guess
We were cheated from being together, I never knew that shit would happen
Like this, killed by some fuckin assasin, but love is everlastin, even
Though when I'm grasping for it, it always slips away.
Chorus
The pain has burrowed deep in my brain, like a plane smashin through the
World trade, I don't know if I'm sane, there's no reason to explain, no
Way to regain what I've lost, my future, tossed into the air like who would
Care, and I swear when I swore that I'm swearin that I love you I wasn't
Kidding, right now I'm slipping I'm kicking I'm tripping and I'm gritting
My teeth, eyes screaming in disbelief, my heart floatin away like a leaf,
Life is cheap, it's a steep mountain, there is no fountain of youth,
There's no god damn proof.
Well the world is only a stage
And I'm just a man
With a sound caught in his throat
And a pick in his hand
But when the song comes tumbling out
You understand, there's no great demand
Well it's there under your breath
Behind your eyes
And you don't have to say nothing
Cause I realise
That everything somehow in someway eventually dies
It's life in disguise
It's your room and your board and your fireside
It's a shell that's been washed by a million tides
And if you're there you can see just how bright it
shines
When there's nobody left in your heart
Left in your head
When the whole world has packed up in shadows
And left you for dead
When you can't fake a smile
And you just can't get out of your bed
When the people you led
Turn to you looking so hungry and bare
And you were the one who had brought them there
And all you can do is just stare at your hands
And whisper my name elenore
Cecil, Robert and Molly
Coco, Rudy, Maxwell wherever you are

I'm just a poor boy in love with you
and I know that you don't get along with your man
Oh when the moon is loaded
Oh when my hand is folded
on the wheel
Oh when I drive through lightining
Oh cause your love is frightining
Some people got work to do
And I only want to be with you
you never think I can get through you
do you know what I'm capable off?
do you really think that you know me well?
I found an emptyness in front off you
what was lost has been found
do you really think you know me well?
you gotta slip inside my soul
can you feel what I feel?
do you see why I don't bother now?
you gotta slip inside my soul
can you see what I see?
do you feel the fire that's raging in me?
I never took the chances I wanted to
I always lived my life through you
and do you really think that you know me well?
but you turned it around and threw it back at me
And now avoid what's left inside
do you really think that you know me well?
you gotta slip inside my soul
can you feel what I feel
do you see why I don't bother now
you gotta slip inside my soul
can you see what I see
do you feel the fire that's raging in me
Through the iron gate
A memory comes too late
Closing up a window while you and I hesitate
But I will look to you and you to me
I get taken and mistaken habitually
I get tossed like a bone to the dogs in the sky
And closing is a gathering of eyes
But I will look to you and you to me
In between the space we chase the tune we dreamed so lazily
And I will look to you and you to me
Habitually
I get tossed like a bone to the dogs in the sky
And closing is a gathering, a gathering of eyes
But I will look to you and you to me
Before you were born, you had it all
All the love and riches in the world
Before you were born, you'd fly along the wind
Then you were born,
And now you want it all back again
Before you were born you had no fears
The sun was your smile and the rain was your tears
And nothing grew without the rain
And your smile would never end
Then you were born,
And now you want it all back again
I'll tell you this, I'm glad you were born
I'll drink another to you as I light my cigarette
Throw another log on desire
And play that mandolin
The Slip - Life In Disguise
Well the world is only a stage
And I'm just a man
With a sound caught in his throat
And a pick in his hand
But when the song comes tumbling out you understand
There's no great demand
Well it's there under your breath, behind your eyes
And you don't have to say nothing cause I realize
That everything somehow in someway eventually dies
It's life in disguise
It's your room and your board and your fireside
It's a shell that's been washed by a million tides
And if you're there you can see just how bright it
shines
When there's nobody left in your heart, left in your
head
When the whole world has packed up in shadows and left
you for dead
When you can't fake a smile and you just can't get out
of your bed
When the people you led turn to you looking so hungry
and bare
And you were the one that had brought them there
And all you can do is just stare at your hands and
whisper my name

People are strange
That's why we're strangers
Word's go in,
They don't come out
The forest is big
That's why we need rangers
If you gotta run, babe
You're allowed.
I can't believe
In you i stay destined,
I can't believe
I know you're still here
Once you are seen
It all becomes mystic
The lightning of love
In full form appears
On my hands
On my knees
I've buried my burden deep
Up the stairs
Unlock the door
To the suffocation keep.
(singing)
Honey, you're there
Honey, you're listening
Bodies can bond
And flesh repeats
Still there's a square
In the distance
Was composed
While i was asleep
On my hands
On my knees
I've buried my burden deep
Up the stairs
Unlock the door
To the suffocation keep...
Keep...
Keep...
People are strange,
That's why we're strangers
Word's go in,
They don't come out
The forest is big,
That's why we need rangers,
If you gotta run, babe
Cold fries, I'm half a cigarette
From believing they doubled my potion
With those eyes you might have to pretend you don't see me til the song is blown
Your blue bow simple as the snow
like confetti, how steady you bloom
But those girls and trouble makes you feel like it's okay
You left a bit I've never seen before
And it was shaped like a mothwing
Now I don't have to paint the devil on the wall babe
That's to say it grows but it won't go away
I said boom! My lord
If you ever get back to little compton
A bolide, a fire in the sky, a machete I've mistaken my own
There's no drugs in Boston or L.A. that'll get me home
You left a bit I've never seen before
And it was shaped like a mothwing
And now I've left a trail of blood from your window pane
But I'm drawn like a moth to a flame
I said boom! My lord
I will always carry
the words of your
prediction with me
Even though they
harbour some grave
obscurity
They haunt me like some willows do.
And nothing has revealed itself to me
The half of the world that I can see
Is just a memory.
And I will be here
To respond so clear
to that word,
that sound,
that I have found
in me, in you,
in us...
As long as you can have the moon
let me have the dust.
Somebody comes along
you continue to rust.
Everyone will do you wrong
'til you learn how to trust,
along the way...
If one of us should fall, should fall
If one of us should fall, should fall...
I will always carry
the wounds of your
addiction with me
Even though they
harbour some grave
obscurity
They haunt me like some willows do.
But something has revealed itself to me
The half of the world that I can see
Is falling to its knees.
And I will be here
To respond so clear
to that word,
that sound,
that I have found
in me, in you,
in us...
As long as you can have the moon
let me have the sky.
Somebody comes along
you continue to cry.
I'll be the camera,
you, the discernible eye.
Together we can climb so high
so high, but...
If one of us should fall, should fall
If one of us should fall, should fall
I'm just a poor boy in love with you
and I know that you don't get along with your man
Oh when the moon is loaded
Oh when my hand is folded
on the wheel
Oh when I drive through lightining
Oh cause your love is frightining
Some people got work to do
All of the parents of the children of December
Have a clutch
Cause their birthdays are the hardest to remember
When youre born on Christmas
Or the day before New Years
They can sing out your birthday
But but but nobody hears
I was lucky I was born in the summer
1975, it was as hot as an oven
Families that were loving eachother in November
By April were planning all the new family members
But save one for the empirical boy with his empirical toys
The hots wheels the autobots and the deceptigons
Everyones waiting to see what he's worth
But he is invincible like a breeze on the earth
I was holding something
In my hands so tightly
I was afraid to let it go
I was afraid to even know
I was holding something
In my heart so tightly
I was afraid to let it go
Children Of December
Oh when youre born in December
Its hard to remember
Well the 90s have ended
So what do you call this decade?
I hold every person I meet like a treasure
I defend the ones I love to whatever the end is
And thats why I take it to you through the music
Cause when the music's connected its like everyone's protected
January is for Rosie
God bless Rosie
And February is for Tim
We all know about him
March is for my mama still wining and dining
And April is for my my my my pop
May give to Jonas some
June is for the bass
Mines July July July July July
All the parents of the children of December
Have a clutch
When you're born in christmas
Or the day after new year's
They can sing out your birthday but but but but but but but
Make a little noise
Make a little sound
Oh when youre born in December
And no one remembers
Well the 90s have ended
It's the day before the rest of my life
And I feel like Dylan Thomas
Says my muse if you stay I'll go
If I'm not lying I'm not being honest
It'd be the death of me to keep her pace
And my bride I haven't even laid eyes on
But my ghosts they come to me these days
My companions from the day I was born
Airplane primitive
Saw it and thought it was some kind of bird
It landed, he made up his mind
Can't, can't live
Airplane primitive
Saw it and thought it was some kind of bird
It landed, he made up his mind
Can't live knowing that there's some other world
Well come with me on one last run
Then I swear I'll join you in the sun
Airplane primitive
Saw it and thought it was some kind of bird
It landed, he made up his mind
Can't live knowing that there's some other world
Where men fly up in the sky
Strapped himself to the wing for a one way ride
And in the air, above a cloud
There his soul stayed when his body fell down.
Airplane primitive
Saw it and thought it was some kind of bird
It landed, he made up his mind
Can't live knowing that there's some other world
Where men fly up in the sky
Strapped himself to the wing for a one way ride
And in the air, above the clouds
