Check Our Website : http://www.travels1001nights.com Barcelona (English /bɑrsɨˈloʊnə/, Catalan: [bərsəˈɫonə], Spanish: [barθeˈlona]) is the capital city of the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain and the country's 2nd largest city, with a population of 1.6 million[1] within its administrative limits. Its urban area extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of around 4.5 million people, being the sixth-most populous urban area in the European Union after Paris, London, the Ruhr, Madrid and Milan. About five million[2][3][4][5][6] people live in the Barcelona metropolitan area. It is the largest metropolis on the Mediterranean Sea, located on the coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs, and bounded to the west by the Serra de Collserola mountain range, the tallest peak of which is 512 metres (1,680 ft) high. Founded as a Roman city, in the Middle Ages Barcelona became the capital of the County of Barcelona. After merging with the Kingdom of Aragon, Barcelona continued to be an important city in the Crown of Aragon. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona has a rich cultural heritage and is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination. Particularly renowned are the architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner, which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean is located in Barcelona. The city is known for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as world-class conferences and expositions and also many international sport tournaments. Barcelona is one of the world's leading tourist, economic, trade fair/exhibitions and cultural-sports centres, and its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities.[7][8] It is a major cultural and economic centre in southwestern Europe (Iberian Peninsula), 24th in the world (before Zürich, after Frankfurt)[9] and a financial centre (Diagonal Mar and Gran Via). In 2008 it was the fourth most economically powerful city by GDP in the European Union and 35th in the world with GDP amounting to €177 billion.[10] In 2012 Barcelona had a GDP of $170 billion; it is lagging Spain on both employment and GDP per capita change.[11] In 2009 the city was ranked Europe's third and one of the world's most successful as a city brand.[12] In the same year the city was ranked Europe's fourth best city for business and fastest improving European city, with growth improved by 17% per year,[13] but it has since been in a full recession with declines in both employment and GDP per capita, with some recent signs of the beginning of an economic recovery.[14] Barcelona is a transport hub with one of Europe's principal seaports, an international airport which handles above 35 million passengers per year,[15] an extensive motorway network and a high-speed rail line with a link to France and the rest of Europe.[16] Extra Tags: Barcelona travel guide travel to Barcelona Barcelona tourism travel Barcelona Barcelona travel tips Barcelona travel card Barcelona tours Barcelona travel packages Barcelona travel information what to do in Barcelona Barcelona guide Barcelona info places to visit in Barcelona ferry to Barcelona Barcelona tourist attractions Barcelona travel deals traveling to Barcelona guide Barcelona Barcelona tourist guide Barcelona attractions travel in Barcelona Barcelona tour Barcelona the netherlands travelling to Barcelona visiting Barcelona cheap travel to Barcelona Barcelona tour guide i Barcelona things to do in Barcelona Barcelona what to do lonely planet Barcelona Barcelona lonely planet Barcelona gay travel travel guide Barcelona things to do Barcelona things to see in Barcelona tours Barcelona tourism Barcelona Barcelona visit Barcelona places to visit tour Barcelona tourist information Barcelona Barcelona ferry tours in Barcelona Barcelona tourism guide info Barcelona what to see in Barcelona Barcelona sightseeing travel hotel Barcelona Barcelona city tour Barcelona city tours guide to Barcelona ferries to Barcelona Barcelona city Barcelona holland Barcelona travel info Barcelona city centre Barcelona tourist information Barcelona city guide

Travel video about destination Madrid in Spain. Madrid is Europe's most elevated metropolis, a royal capital of history, outstanding buildings and cultural treasures. Most of Spain's royal palaces are in Madrid, the capital of Spain since the 17th century. Including the Royal Palace, that even today serves as a royal castle. The colossal building of grey granite and limestone owes its impressive appearance to its length of 500 metres and strategic elevated location. On the southern side of the castle is Madrid's most recent cathedral, Almudena Cathedral. It boasts a combination of styles between New Gothic and Classical and was 200 years in construction. Madrid also has a boulevard that has transformed it into a major metropolis, the Gran Via, that compares in both flair and dimensions with the exquisite streets of Paris and New York, with splendid noble buildings along with the contemporary. What the Gran Via a hundred years ago, the Paseo De La Castellana achieved comparable renown at the end of the last millennium, a replica of Manhattan, the Zona Azca. A modern city district with spectacular skyscrapers and spacious streets where chrome, glass and concrete dominate the futuristic skyline. The royal splendor of former times has managed to successfully combine with the contemporary and today, Madrid is no less flamboyant, a city of historic joie de vivre!

Travel video about destination Barcelona in Spain. Barcelona is one of the most lively harbor cities on the Mediterranean and after Madrid, Spain's second largest city and the capital of Catalonia. Intimate squares, small palaces and tangled alleys provide a good insight into its history as Iberians, Greeks and Romans once had trading posts there. La Rambla is a wide and shady boulevard that travels through the old town to the harbor and is where life goes on both night and day. It's also where street artists perform, shoeblacks work diligently and portrait painters tout for trade among the passing tourists. The Museu Marítim is situated in the royal dockyards of Drassanes, that were built when the city was at its zenith. Its buildings are unique examples of Gothic architecture and the vast dimensions of the dockyard allowed 30 ships to be built simultaneously in the name of the Catalonian-Aragon crown. Few parks are as famous as the Park Güell. With this, Antoni Gaudi created a new design concept in this fabulous garden city. At its entrance, Gaudi placed a colorful lizard as a symbol of the water that is collected in subterranean cisterns and is used for the distribution of water in the park. The city itself is also featured in Gaudi's magnificent fantasies. The Palau Güell was treated to an ostentatious roof with a great array of air shafts and chimneys. But the sight that captures the imagination of most who see it is the amazing façade of the Casa Mila, a unique apartment block without equal. Not a single wall is straight, glass and plaster were used for its façade and colourful ornamental ceramics complete the work. Barcelona is a melting pot that ranges from Gothic to Modernism, a veritable explosion of joie de vivre and creativity.

Barcelona is today one of the world's leading tourist, economic, trade fair/exhibitions and cultural-sports centres, and its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of theworld's major global cities. The most important places to visit in Barcelona are: La Sagrada Familia (This was the largest project by Antoni Gaudi. The construction of this world famous church began in 1882 and is still ongoing), Casa Mila (also known as La Pedrera, it was architected by the great Antoni Gaudi. The unusual rooftop can be seen on many postcards from Barcelona), La Rambla (probably the most famous area of Barcelona and very popular amongst tourists. Don't forget to appreciate the history while watching street performers), Gothic Quarter (it the center of Barcelona's Old City. Amidst the buildings from medieval times, you will feel transported back in time), La Boqueria (a colorful market where you will find both locals and visitors. One of them is the unique Parc Guell) and many more. This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. http://bookinghunter.com Valencia is the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia is situated on the banks of the Turia river, on the eastern coast of the Iberian peninsula and the western part of the Mediterranean Sea, fronting the Gulf of Valencia. The most important places to visit in Valencia are: Cathedral of Valencia (if seen from the top the Latin cross shape of cathedral can be seen. Holy Grail can be seen in one of the cathedral's chapels), Bioparc (it is not another zoo! Make sure you have enough free space on your flash-card), Museum of Science (if you short in time or if you visited something similar in Germany or France you might skip this option, but if you have 1 day, you can buy a combined ticket to visit this museum too), Oceanografic (worth visiting, the best part is dolphin show. Normally overcrowded, so reserving tickets online might be a good idea), Central market and many more. This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation.
