An art centre or arts center is distinct from an art gallery or art museum. An arts centre is a functional community centre with a specific remit to encourage arts practice and to provide facilities such as theatre space, gallery space, venues for musical performance, workshop areas, educational facilities, technical equipment, etc.
In the United States, "art centers" are generally either establishments geared toward exposing, generating, and making accessible art making to arts-interested individuals, or buildings that rent primarily to artists, galleries, or companies involved in art making.
In Britain, art centres began after World War II and gradually changed from mainly middle-class places to 1960s and 1970s trendy, alternative centres and eventually in the 1980s to serving the whole community with a programme of enabling access to wheelchair users and disabled individuals and groups.
In the rest of Europe it is common among most art centres that they are partly government funded, since they are considered to have a positive influence on society and economics according to the Rhineland model philosophy. A lot of those organisations originally started in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s as squading spaces and were later on legalized.
In Western European academic traditions, fine art is art developed primarily for aesthetics or beauty, distinguishing it from applied art that also has to serve some practical function.
Historically, the five main fine arts were painting, sculpture, architecture, music and poetry, with performing arts including theatre and dance. Today, the fine arts commonly include additional forms, such as film, photography, conceptual art, and printmaking. However, in some institutes of learning or in museums, fine art and frequently the term fine arts (pl.) as well, are associated exclusively with visual art forms.
One definition of fine art is "a visual art considered to have been created primarily for aestheticand intellectual purposes and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness, specifically, painting, sculpture, drawing, watercolor, graphics, and architecture." In that sense, there are conceptual differences between the fine arts and the applied arts. As originally conceived, and as understood for much of the modern era, the perception of aesthetic qualities required a refined judgment usually referred to as having good taste, which differentiated fine art from popular art and entertainment. However, in the Postmodern era, the value of good taste is disappearing, to the point that having bad taste has become synonymous with being avant-garde. The term "fine art" is now rarely found in art history, but remains common in the art trade and as a title for university departments and degrees, even if rarely used in teaching.

The mansion known as "Callanwolde" was built by Charles Howard Candler, President of The Coca-Cola Company (1916, 1920-1923), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Emory University (nearly 30 years), and eldest son of Asa Griggs Candler who founded The Coca-Cola Company. Callanwolde is a Gothic-Tudor style mansion situated on a landscaped 12.5-acre estate and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Support is provided to Callanwolde Fine Arts Center through a grant appropriated by the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, in part by DeKalb County Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs, and in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts through appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. The Arts Center Station is a train station in Atlanta, Georgia, serving the Red and Gold lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. It is the northernmost of three MARTA stations that serve Midtown Atlanta, the others being Midtown and North Avenue.
The Arts Center Station is an underground station with four levels: the platform level, the mezzanine level with fare gates facing onto West Peachtree Street, bus bays for bus feeder routes, and the upper level which is located across the street from the Woodruff Arts Center. This is the seventh-busiest station in the MARTA system, handling an average of 6,605 entries per weekday.
There is also a Zipcar parked in the parking lot.
The Arts Center Station was opened on December 18, 1982, the same day as the Midtown Station. It served as the northern terminus for both the Gold and Red Lines(at that time called the Northeast-South Line and North-South Line, respectively) until December 15, 1984, when the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe and Lindbergh Center Stations become the new Gold and Red Lines northern terminus, respectively.
The Fine Arts Center at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (FAC) is an arts center located just north of downtown Amherst, Massachusetts and contains a concert hall and a contemporary art gallery. The building is a 646-foot-long bridge of studio art space, raised up 30 feet from the ground creating a monumental gateway for a campus.
The Fine Arts Center serves as a cultural library and regional resource center for the citizens of the Pioneer Valley and the students and faculty from the University of Massachusetts. It also attracts scholars, faculty, students, and families interested in relocating to a community with this type of rich environment.
In the late 1960s, Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo were asked to design first-class art, music, and theater spaces for the sons and daughters of working men and women of Massachusetts. The structure was constructed between 1972 and 1974 and opened in 1975.
The Fine Arts Center is a 646-foot-long and 66 foot-high, modern, poured stereo metric concrete, partially bridge-like structure, which are reflected in the nearby pond.

James and Ela were married in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart Catholic church, and held the reception at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center on a beautiful October day. The ladies started their day getting ready at a charming Airbnb home in Atlanta while the guys got ready at the arts center. The two met up for a sweet first look, surrounded by the beautiful fall trees and stunning fall colors. The love these two have for each other is apparent to those around them as they absolutely light up when they are around each other. With Ela’s family being Polish, the union of these two included a traditional Polish blessing at the beginning of the day, as well as a Polish toast and a celebratory song at the reception. As you can see in their film, James adores his new bride and the love they have ...

We can we can we can take a walk down to the arts center and have some tea
They have pretty vessels there, we have some time to spare and we don’t have to be
Enclosed in the environment of their serious world of form and style
We’ll go there bring a smile, sip drinks and stare a while at what is going down
Oh, observing eyes would fail the biggest signs with you
Come on, come on, come on, bring a cover it’s still cold we’ll catch the sundown
Let’s have one for the stars and drink around in bars and have a holiday
We can dress in something close to rags and seize the time in careless ways
Hop in the car and drive, the engine roaring wild, you’re young, I’m still ok
Oh pitch perfect ears would fail to keep the tone with you
Then in silence you can get my hands immortalized in two plain lines
