The Zhan Guo Ce (simplified Chinese: 战国策; traditional Chinese: 戰國策; pinyin: Zhàn Guó Cè; Wade–Giles: Chan-kuo Ts'e; literally "Strategies of the Warring States") is a renowned ancient Chinese historical work and compilation of sporadic materials on the Warring States Period compiled between the 3rd to 1st centuries BCE. It is an important text of the Warring States Period as it accounts the strategies and political views of the School of Diplomacy and reveals the historical and social characteristics of the period.

The author of Zhan Guo Ce has not yet been verified: it is generally deemed, after Zhang Xincheng, that the book was not written by a single author at one time. It is thought to have been composed by Su Qin and his peers before being obtained by Liu Xiang. Unlike most of the pre-Qin classics, the authenticity of Zhan Guo Ce, along with the Shijing, Mozi, Yulingzi and Gongsun Longzi had never been questioned since the Western Han period. The earliest to assert the texts were apocryphal scriptures was perhaps the compiler of the Annotated Catalogue of the Siku Quanshu, but he provided no warrant for it. In 1931, Luo Genze put forward an argument that the book was composed by Kuai Tong (Chinese: 蒯通) in his two papers based on six conclusions which he drew, a contemporary of Han Xin. Although this argument had been seconded by Jin Dejian (1932) and Zu Zhugeng (1937), but by 1939 it was refuted by Zhang Xincheng.

Sima Qian (ca. 145 or 135 BC – 86 BC) (pinyin: Sīmǎ Qiān; Wade–Giles: Ssu-ma Ch'ien) was a Prefect of the Grand Scribes (太史公 taishigong) of the Han Dynasty. He is regarded as the father of Chinese historiography for his highly praised work, Records of the Grand Historian, a "Jizhuanti"-style general history of China, covering more than two thousand years from the Yellow Emperor to Emperor Wu of Han. His definitive work laid the foundation for later Chinese historiography.

Sima Qian was born and grew up in Longmen, near present-day Hancheng to a family of astrologers. His father, Sima Tan, served as the Prefect of the Grand Scribes of Emperor Wu of Han (Emperor "Han Wudi"). His main responsibilities were managing the imperial library and maintaining or reforming the calendar. Due to intensive training by his father, by the age of ten, Sima Qian was already well versed in old writings. He was a student of the famous Confucians Kong Anguo (孔安國) and Dong Zhongshu. At the age of twenty, with the support of his father, Sima Qian started a journey throughout the country, collecting useful first-hand historical records for his main work, Shiji. The purpose of his journey was to verify the ancient rumors and legends and to visit ancient monuments, including the renowned graves of the ancient sage kings Yu and Shun. Places he visited include Shandong, Yunnan, Hebei, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, and Hunan.

Zhi Yao (Chinese: 支曜; pinyin: Zhī Yào) was a Kushan Buddhist monk from modern day Kabul, Afghanistan of Yuezhi ethnicity. He was involved with the translation of Buddhist texts into Chinese around 185 CE. His origin is described in his adopted Chinese surname Zhi, abbreviation of Yuezhi.

Zhi Yao was a student of Lokaksema. He translated the Mahayana text: The Sutra on the Completion of Brightness into Chinese.

Fish Leong (Chinese: 梁静茹; pinyin: Liáng Jìngrú; born June 16, 1978 in Bahau, Seremban, Malaysia with family roots in Shunde, Guangdong, China) is the stage name of Jasmine Leong, a Malaysian Chinese singer in the Mandarin pop scene who has had much success in Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan. Leong, known as "the Queen of Love Songs", is famous for her love-themed ballads, many of which have become popular karaoke hits.

She started her career in Taiwan, in October 1997, after joining Rock Records of Taiwan. It was then that she adopted the name "Fish", because the last character of her name "茹" sounds like "fish" (魚) in Cantonese. Her debut album Yí Yè Zhǎng Dà (一夜長大) was released after two years, only to encounter an earthquake on the day of the album launch promotion (21 September 1999). Her career only managed to take off after the successful launch of her second album Yǒng Qì (勇氣), which means courage. The hit song "Courage" about courage in love and especially in forbidden relationships. From then on, Leong has continued to sing love songs about the different stages of relationships, from first love in "Quiet Summer" to life after a breakup in "Happy Breakup" (分手快樂). Friendship is also recursive within her songs.

Claire Kuo Ching is a Taiwanese Mandopop singer. The daughter of a restaurant owner, Kuo graduated from Shih Hsin University and was a competitive cheerleader. After singing in Taiwanese television programs she released her first album I Don't Want to Forget You in 2007, which gained her 12 awards including "Best Newcomer".
