Queer as Folk is a television series. An American-Canadian co-production, the series was produced for Showtime Entertainment and Showcase by Cowlip Productions, Tony Jonas Productions, and Temple Street Productions in association with Channel 4 Television. It was developed and written by Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman (Sisters, An Early Frost), who were the showrunners, and also the executive producers along with Tony Jonas, former President of Warner Bros. Television. Based on the British series created by Russell T Davies, Queer as Folk was the first hour-long drama on American television to portray the lives of gay men and women. Although it was set in Pittsburgh, PA, interior scenes were actually shot in Toronto and employed various Canadian directors known for their independent film work (including Bruce McDonald, David Wellington, Kelly Makin, John Greyson, Jeremy Podeswa and Michael DeCarlo) as well as Australian director Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) who directed the pilot episode. Additional writers in the later seasons included Michael MacLennan, Efrem Seeger, Brad Fraser, Del Shores, and Shawn Postoff. Justin Taylor is a fictional character from the American/Canadian Showtime television series Queer as Folk, a drama about the lives of a group of gay men and women living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[1] The character was created by Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, who developed, wrote and executive produced the series, and was portrayed by American actor Randy Harrison during the show's five year run, and is based on Nathan Maloney of Russell T Davies' original British series of the same name.[2] Known for his optimism and cheery disposition, Justin is a gay teenager who seeks out a gay community in his hometown of Pittsburgh. After losing his virginity to Brian Kinney during his senior year of high school, Justin falls in love with Brian, and their relationship becomes a central part of the series. Many of Justin's storylines revolve around his desire for a more committed relationship with Brian; in later seasons, the character's storylines begin to focus more on his developing career as an artist. In 2007, the character was voted number 3 on the list of the top 25 gay television characters of all time by AfterElton Brian A. Kinney is a fictional character from the American/Canadian Showtime television series Queer as Folk, a drama about the lives of a group of gay men and women living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[1] The character was created by Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, who developed, wrote and executive produced the series, and was portrayed by American actor Gale Harold during the show's five year run. Handsome and masculine, Brian is a successful advertising executive who owns a lavish Pittsburgh loft and leads a glamorous and self-indulgent lifestyle. He is portrayed as extremely sexually promiscuous[2] and narcissistic,[3] taking pride in his looks and his status as the most desirable man on Pittsburgh's Liberty Avenue.[3] Brian completely rejects heteronormativity, in which he includes gay marriage, and monogamous relationships.[4] His storylines on the show revolve around his refusal to adhere to these ideals, often putting him at odds with his gay friends who yearn to get married and start families of their own. Despite his feelings, Brian does father a child via artificial insemination with his close friend Lindsay, a lesbian, and ultimately develops a romantic and sexual relationship with young artist Justin Taylor which is central throughout the series. Brian has been the subject of controversy among LGBT critics of the show. He has been described as "the ultimate gay hero" for his liberationist philosophy,[5] but has also been criticized for his representation of what many gay viewers believe are "negative stereotypes about gay men."[6] In November 2007, Brian was voted the most popular gay television character of all time by AfterEllen's brother site, AfterElton. https://www.blogger.com/home

Mann, Frau, Queer? Was der Begriff "queer" eigentlich bedeutet, erzählt Euch heute unser Gast Sookee.

Huffington Post 2015-03-27Queer is an umbrella term for sexual minorities that are not heterosexual, heteronormative, or gender-binary. In the context of Western identity politics the term also acts as a label setting queer-identifying people apart from discourse, ideologies, and lifestyles that typify mainstream LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual) communities as being oppressive or assimilationist.
This term is controversial because it was reappropriated only two decades ago from its use as an anti-gay epithet. Furthermore, some LGBT people disapprove of using queer as a catch-all because they consider it offensive, derisive or self-deprecating given its continuous use as a form of hate speech. Other LGBT people may avoid queer because they associate it with political radicalism, or simply because they perceive it as the faddish slang of a "younger generation."
Since its emergence in the English language in the 16th century (related to the German quer, meaning "across, at right angle, diagonally or transverse"), queer has generally meant "strange", "unusual", or "out of alignment". It might refer to something suspicious or "not quite right", or to a person with mild derangement or who exhibits socially inappropriate behaviour. The expression "in Queer Street" was used in the UK as of the 1811 edition of Francis Grose's A Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue for someone in financial trouble.

One is for the decent times
And two is for the same
Well number three is for the big fat sinners
And four is heaven's gate
There's a soul invasion here
The soul invasion is mine
Love is in a vacant tree
I'm going to pick and choose what's mine
There's a show inside of heaven's gate
And the sinners are taking a bath
Heaven is a season and the season is time
I'm going to sit right back
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
With you by my side
I hardly know I speak the truth
I'm an easy equation
As I step inside of heaven's gate
Here beside heaven's fountains
I'm washing my hands with time
I'm washing my legs with truth
I step inside of heaven's gate
I walk inside of heaven's gate
I run inside of heaven's gate
Ha ha ha

Hey boy, take a look at me
Let me dirty up your mind
I'll strip away your hard veneer
And see what I can find
The queerest of the queer
The strangest of the strange
The coldest of the cool
The lamest of the lame
The numbest of the dumb
I hate to see you here
You choke behind a smile
A fake behind the fear
The queerest of the queer
This is what he pays me for
I'll show you how it's done
You learn to love the pain you feel
Like father like son
The queerest of the queer
Hide inside your head
The blindest of the blind
The deadest of the dead
You're hungry cause you starve
While holding back the tears
Choking on your smile
A fake behind the fear
The queerest of the queer
I know what's good for you (You can touch me if you want)
I know you're dying to (You can touch me if you want)
I know what's good for you (You can touch me if you want)
But you can't stop
The queerest of the queer
The strangest of the strange
The coldest of the cool
The lamest of the lame
The numbest of the dumb
I hate to see you here
You choke behind a smile
A fake behind the fear
The queerest of the queer
The strangest of the strange
The coldest of the cool
You're nothing special here
A fake behind the fear
The queerest of the queer
I know what's good for you
I know you're dying to
I know what's good for you
I bet you're dying to
You can touch me if you want
You can touch me if you want
You can touch me
You can touch me
Is the story of the depravity of the beat generation true?
Daisy and Lily, lazy and silly
Walk by the shore of the warm, grassy sea
Talking once more neath a swan-bosomed tree
Rose castles fourelles, those bustles where swells
Each foam bell of ermine they roam and determine
What fashions have been and what fashions will be
What tartan leaves born what crinolines worn
Yeah
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
By green (thefis) pelisses or farlahine blue
Like the thin plaided leaves that castle crags grew
Or velours d'afrande on the water gods' land
Her hair seemed gold trees on the honey cell sand
When the thickest gold spangles on
Deep water seen were like twanging guitar
And like cold mandoline and the nymphs of great caves
With hair like gold waves of Venus wore (Farta) fine
Yeah
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Wild fire passion and impossible temper
The nymph tagliongrisi the ondine wear
Plaided Victoria and thin clementine
Like the crinolined waterfalls nymphs wear beneath shawls
Elegant parasols floating are seen
The amazons wear balzarine blue
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
Queer, Queer
First time he saw him was
A New York City cafe
Walked into that room
Things would really change
He had too much to drink
Guess he didn't think about his family
What went wrong
You could be his woman
You could be his man
You could be his queer
You could be his drug store slam
You could be his woman
And I hope your family understands
Second time he saw him was
The south of France
Some passion fashion disco
And a bastard's dance
What went wrong
Or what went right
That night
Was it love?
You can be his woman
You can be his man
You can be his queer
You can be his drug store junkie slam
Real love doesn't come so easy when you're on your knees
Say please
Guess it's just a figure of speech
Life's got its lessons to teach
Just like fuzz on a peach
But be careful where you reach
Man I can only tell you
Sex is dangerous
(Chorus)
Didn't know what was gettin' into you
