Doolin (Irish: Dúlainn) is a coastal village in County Clare, Ireland, on the Atlantic coast. It borders the spa town of Lisdoonvarna. It is a noted centre of traditional Irish music, which is played nightly in its pubs, making it a popular tourist destination. There are numerous nearby archaeological sites, many dating to the Iron Age and earlier. Doonagore Castle and Ballinalacken Castle are also in the area.
The scattered village of Doolin comprises three parts along with a harbour:
The Aille River runs from the hills of the Burren down past Doolin to meet the sea. The small Crab Island is a short distance out from Doolin Harbour, barren except for the remains of a 19th-century stone constabulary outpost.
Coordinates: 52°56′10″N 9°28′15″W / 52.93611°N 9.47083°W / 52.93611; -9.47083
The Cliffs of Moher (Irish: Aillte an Mhothair) are located at the southwestern edge of the Burren region in County Clare, Ireland. They rise 120 metres (390 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head and reach their maximum height of 214 metres (702 ft) just north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometres to the north. A round stone tower near the midpoint of the cliffs, the tower was built in 1835 by Sir Cornelius O'Brien. From the cliffs and from atop the tower, visitors can see the Aran Islands in Galway Bay, the Maumturks and Twelve Pins mountain ranges to the north in County Galway, and Loop Head to the south. The cliffs rank amongst the top-visited tourist sites in Ireland and receive almost one million visitors a year. The closest settlements are Liscannor (6 km south) and Doolin (7 km north).
The cliffs take their name from an old fort called Moher, which once stood on Hag's Head, the southernmost point of the cliffs. The writer Thomas Johnson Westropp referred to it in 1905 as Moher Uí Ruis or Moher Uí Ruidhin. The fort still stood in 1780 and is mentioned in an account from John Lloyd's A Short Tour Of Clare (1780). It was demolished in 1808 to provide material for a new telegraph tower. The present tower near the site of the old Moher Uí Ruidhin was built as a lookout tower during the Napoleonic wars.
"Galway Girl" or "The Galway Girl" is a song written by Steve Earle and recorded with Irish musician Sharon Shannon, which was featured on Earle's 2000 album Transcendental Blues.
A cover version of the song by Mundy and Shannon reached number one and became the most downloaded song of 2008 in Ireland, and has gone on to become the eighth highest selling single in Irish chart history.
"Galway Girl" tells the semi-autobiographical story of the singer's reaction to a beautiful black haired blue eyed girl he meets in Galway, Ireland. Local references include Salthill and The Long Walk.
"Galway Girl" featured in the 2008 Bulmers cider advertising campaign.
The song appears in the 2007 film P.S. I Love You, where Gerard Butler's character sings the song for Hilary Swank's character. This was also sung by Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character to Swank.
The song featured in the TV series Treme (in episode 9 of the second series, entitled "What Is New Orleans?"). It was performed by Steve Earle (in his role of Harley, a street musician) with Lucia Micarelli and Spider Stacy (of The Pogues) accompanying him on violin and pennywhistle.
County Clare (Irish: Contae an Chláir) is a county in Ireland. It is located in the Mid-West Region and is also part of the province of Munster. Clare County Council is the local authority for the county. The population of the county is 117,196 according to the 2011 census.
Clare is north-west of the River Shannon covering a total area of 3,400 square kilometres (1,300 sq mi). Clare is the 7th largest of Ireland's 32 traditional counties in area and the 19th largest in terms of population. It is bordered by two counties in Munster and one county in Connacht: County Limerick to the south, County Tipperary to the east and County Galway to the north. Clare's nickname is the Banner County.
The county is divided into the baronies of Bunratty Lower, Bunratty Upper, Burren, Clonderalaw, Corcomroe, Ibrickan, Inchiquin, Islands, Moyarta, Tulla Lower and Tulla Upper. These in turn are divided into civil parishes, which are divided into townlands. These divisions are cadastral, defining land boundaries and ownership, rather than administrative.

Plot: Fact-based bio of early film director-producer, Bill Tilghman (Sam Elliott). Tighman was a real life cowboy, who rode with the Earps & faced down countless bad guys. When he turned to films, he was determined to make authentic Westerns, rather than the fake carrying on of Tom Mix & other Western movie stars of the day. The only problem was that no one wanted to see his non-stars in any story. Arliss Howard co-stars as a cocaine-addled law enforcement nemesis of Tighman, who attempts to stop him at every turn.

Plot: Mingo County, West Virginia, 1920. Coal miners, struggling to form a union, are up against company operators and the gun thugs of the notorious Baldwin-Felts detective agency. Black and Italian miners, brought in by the company to break the strike, are caught between the two forces. UMWA organizer and dual-card Wobbly Joe Kenehan determines to bring the local, Black, and Italian groups together. While Kenehan and his story are fictional, the setting and the dramatic climax are historical; Sid Hatfield, Cabell C. Testerman, C. E. Lively and the Felts brothers were real-life participants, and 'Few Clothes' is based on a character active several years previously.

Plot: Father and son Ned Kincaid and John Kincaid are two of the thousands taking part in the Oklahoma land rush of the Cherokee Strip. They are certain they can stake out the piece of land they want for a new townsite, which they will call Tulsa, as they have the two fastest horses in the land. But out of circumstance, they are forced to share their townsite with outlaw Whip McCord, who wants exclusive rights to provide all saloons and gambling joints in the town. After the town of Tulsa is set up, Ned wants to run for mayor and John as sheriff so that they can quash the criminal element in town, namely McCord and his band of men. Their anti-crime platform raises the standoff between the two factions, both sides which will do whatever they need to get what they want.

McCord stakes a "sooner" claim on land which is to be used for a new town; in exchange for giving it up he gets control of gambling and saloons. When Kincaid's father runs for mayor, McCord incites a mob to lynch the old man whom McCord has already framed for murder..

Doolin is a small town located in County Clare, Ireland. These pictures are of the Shops and Pubs located on Fisher Street, the main street through the town. The people of the town are very warm and welcoming. The music at the Pubs is Traditional Irish. Musicians come from all over the world to play in Doolin. My family have been going to Doolin for the past 10 years and have always stayed at "Doolin Haven". A self catering home that is located overlooking the Aran Islands, the Cliffs of Moher and the Atlantic ocean. Enjoy this spectacular video filmed by www.clarevirtually.ie of the walk from Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare. This is a tiny part of the "Wild Atlantic Way" which opens up the West Coast of Ireland to visitors.
Halfpints of Smithwick´s and boys from Dungannon
Stones from the Burren and wise men of Aran
Typical chimneys and chairs for the pipers
A glen of a broken heart
A red-haired tinker and a one-legged teacher
Singing songs of Pete John for a musical preacher
9 Germans beating their pour brandnew bodhráns
No chance for a Gaelic harp
The grasses still grow and the waters flow
And the winds of the west they do roar
The wild whippin´ rain and the ragin´ main
Are knockin´ on Éireann´s green shore
The cry of the seagulls rang over the cliffs
There´s magic and peace in the air
Take me away to Doolin Bay
To the pride of the sweet County Clare
Cheap Fish and Chips in the night near an old bridge
Reels on a friday and days without slip-jigs
There are 4 who share the room in the "Rainbow"
Time is not ticking away
Beautiful sights down the high Cliffs Of Moher
Green grow the rashes and black is the color
Small-talking barkeepers shouting out loud:
"Weather will improve day by day!"
The grasses still grow and the waters flow
And the winds of the west they do roar
The wild whippin´ rain and the ragin´ main
Are knockin´ on Éireann´s green shore
The cry of the seagulls rang over the cliffs
There´s magic and peace in the air
Take me away to Doolin Bay
To the pride of the sweet County Clare
Time is up at half past eleven, 8 P. for the bus from hell to heaven
It´s 10 years ago I made up my way, so - please take me back to the bay
The grasses still grow and the waters flow
And the winds of the west they do roar
The wild whippin´ rain and the ragin´ main
Are knockin´ on Éireann´s green shore
The cry of the seagulls rang over the cliffs
There´s magic and peace in the air
Take me away to Doolin Bay
