The TV Week Logie Awards are the Australian television industry awards, which have been presented annually since 1959. Renamed by Graham Kennedy in 1960 after he won the first 'Star of the Year' award, the name 'Logie' awards honours John Logie Baird, a Scotsman who invented the television as a practical medium. Awards are given in many categories, but the most widely-publicized award is the Gold Logie, which is awarded to the 'most popular personality on Australian television'. The Logie Award is the most prestigious award that could be received by an Australian actor in television.
Home and Away is the most successful program in Logies history, having won 34 awards since it premiered in 1988, followed by Neighbours with 30 Logies since it began in 1985, A Country Practice (29 awards over 12 years), and Blue Heelers (25 Logies over 12 years).
The first awards, known as the TV Week Awards, were instigated by TV Week magazine after the first voting coupons were released in the magazine in late 1958, two years after the introduction of television in Australia. The first awards saw no formal ceremony; they were presented on 15 January 1959 on an episode of In Melbourne Tonight. Only Melbourne television personalities were nominated and awards were given in eight categories, including two for American programs.

Do not scoff at love's bitter edges, for they in
themselves bear witness.
To an age of bygone fancy, where tear-stained forests
rushed into their evening to pout.
For they were without the grass they love to touch, they
love to touch.
Ledges, ledges. Ledges, ledges.
Glistening in the sun, rainbow betrothed to the sky. On
mystic wings I have soared past ledges.
And in myself I bear witness, to an age of bygone fancy.
Where burn-out stars hid their faces in shame. And
planets turned their backs and were unholy.
And without reason and love.
Estoy cansado
tan aburrido
y me crea Confusión
del trayecto que dista,
entre tü y yo...
Cambiaré el color del día (gris)
por un Gran Sol,
que ayude a iluminar
el fondo de mi triste Soledad...
Le voy a robar,
al maldito Silencio,
la pregunta que muere,
cuando nace el desprecio...
Cambiaré el Hedor
por aire puro y por tu Voz,
que transmite la Paz
que va buscando mi Corazón...
Y no me basta la Fe.
Necesito Creer...
solo en lo que pueda Ver.
No me basta...
No la quiero...
No.
La Distancia me Nubla
y me crea Confusión
del trayecto que dista,
entre tú y yo...
Cambiaré el color del día (gris)
por un Gran Sol,
que ayude a iluminar
el fondo de mi triste Soledad...
Y no me basta la Fe.
Necesito Creer...
solo en lo que pueda Ver.
No me basta...
No la quiero...
No.
Cuanto más Lejos estoy de ti,
más cuenta me doy...
Pues no puedo Vivir
sin ojos que poder Mirar,
Sin manos que poder tocar...
No lo Soporto,
no lo Permito,
aunque me hagas Sufrir,
lo tendré que hacer...
Hoy me Derrumbo,
hoy me Lastimas,
mañana cambiará...
mi Memoria Esquiva...
tu Prisión...
Mi Recuerdo huye...
de tu Calor.
