Brooklyn is the most populous of New York City's five boroughs, with approximately 2.5 million residents, and the second-largest in area. Since 1896, Brooklyn has had the same boundaries as Kings County, which is now the most populous county in New York State and the second-most densely populated county in the United States, after New York County (Manhattan). It is also the westernmost county on Long Island.
Brooklyn was an independent city until it was annexed by New York City in 1898. It continues to maintain a distinct culture. Many Brooklyn neighborhoods are ethnic enclaves where particular ethnic groups and cultures predominate.
Brooklyn's official motto is Eendraght Maeckt Maght. Written in the (early modern spelling of the) Dutch language, it is inspired by the motto of the United Dutch Provinces and translated "Unity makes strength". The motto is displayed on the borough seal and flag, which also feature a young robed woman bearing fasces, a traditional emblem of republicanism. Brooklyn's official colors are blue and gold.
Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1986), better known by her stage name Lana Del Rey, is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in upstate New York, Del Rey moved to New York City at age eighteen, where she attended college and began writing music and performing in clubs.
In 2008, Del Rey contracted with an independent label and recorded a self-titled debut album which was briefly available on iTunes in 2010; Del Rey ultimately bought back the rights to the album and it was withdrawn soon after.
In June 2011, she released the song "Video Games" on the Internet, accompanied by a self-made music video that went viral in the following months. The song was later released as a single in October, leading up to Del Rey's major-label debut album, Born to Die, which was released on January 31, 2012 through Interscope Records. Born to Die debuted at number one in seven countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia. The album has spawned two worldwide top 10 hits: "Video Games" and "Born to Die".

His performance in the 2003 film The Cooler garnered him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Since 2006 he has starred as Jack Donaghy on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock, receiving critical acclaim for his performance and winning two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work on the show, making him the male performer with most SAG Awards ever.

Steven Markowitz (born August 19, 1988), better known by his stage name Hoodie Allen, is an independent American hip-hop artist and rapper.
Hoodie was born in New York City and raised in a Jewish household on Long Island He started writing lyrics as a child, and would perform raps for his friends at house parties. Growing up, his nickname was "Hoodie." He wanted a rapper name that "would stick in peoples' minds and be a little bit funny and representative of who I am," so he settled on "Hoodie Allen."
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010, where he studied finance and marketing at The Wharton School, and was a brother in the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. While there, he met his producer, RJF. After graduating, he worked at Google as an AdWords associate in their START (Standardized AdWords Reseller Training) program. He would leave at 7 AM for a bus ride to the Google offices in Mountain View, work a full day at Google, return at 6 PM, and then write songs, answer fan emails, and schedule concerts until 2 or 3 AM. Reflecting on this, Hoodie said, "I was moving so fast, and even while I was at Google there was so much going on that I felt like I was doing two full-time jobs." His dream and passion was music, so when he got opportunities to do live shows, he decided to leave Google.

Plot
In 994 A.D., Goliath and the few remaining gargoyles help defend the Scottish castle where they live. In exchange the human occupants protect the gargoyles during the day, since they turn to stone from dawn to dusk. The gargoyles are put under a spell, and they remain in stone form for one thousand years. When they wake up they find that their castle has been moved atop a skyscraper in New York city, thanks to billionaire Xanatos. He wants their help, but the gargoyles are leary of treachery. Meanwhile Goliath forms a friendship with Elisa Maza, a police detective who is investigating Xanatos.

Owen Burnett: It may prove difficult to find the necessary manpower, this castle has a bad reputation, the locals consider it haunted.::David Xanatos: You know the answer to that Owen. Pay a man enough, and he'll walk barefoot into hell.
Soldier: Taking a castle full of gargoyles near nightfall. This is crazy, and Hakon knows it!::Hakon: No my friend. That's not crazy. Questioning my sanity when I'm in earshot, that's crazy!
Demona: Humanity is our enemy, Goliath. I thought you learned that a millenia ago.
[first lines]::Elisa: Claw marks? What could be strong enough to put claw marks in solid stone?
On a lonely night in brooklyn
You told me you'd be mine forever
I am the lady from New York
Whose heart you once broke
On a night like tonight
Can you imagine how it felt
Did you even feel any guilt
(oh well oh well oh well)
your tender touch will set me free
when you wrap me in you arms and say that you love me (oh yes)
it gives me the strength to move on
in your loving arms I'm never alone
(alone, alone)
On a lonely night in Brooklyn
when all hope was long gone and shattered
you were the sun that shined on me
and it was your love that set me free
honestly you complete me, yes
even if I lived a thousand years (uh huh)
I'd always need you close and near (oh well oh well oh well)
Your tender touch set me free
When you wrap me in your arms and say
That you love me ,yes
It gives me the strength to move on (and on and on and on)
In your loving arms im never alone (alone alone)
On a lonely night in brooklyn (ohhh)
The last car on the line
I guess you're back doing time
The ghost of Christmas past
Left Walt Whitman in the trash
You started out with nothing but lonely days
You used to like the sad songs of doom and gloom
You started with nothing but throwaways
You couldn't live with me so you moved to
Brooklyn
Artificial desserts
Some have cars some have kids
Hit the pathmark after work
Some never been past the bridge
You started out with nothing but lonely days
You used to like the sad songs of doom and gloom
You started with nothing but throwaways
You couldn't live with me so you moved to
Brooklyn
I sometimes lie awake until sunrise
Wondering how we become what we despise
No more couches to surf
Only beaches in your dreams
No more trannies near work
It's still a drag walking in Queens
It's all blood money in the bank
Somehow some people find the nerve
Like the soldiers they thank down in DC
A race of angels bound with one another
A dish of dollars laid out for all to see
A tower room at Eden Rock
His golf at noon for free
Brooklyn owes the charmer under me
Brooklyn owes the charmer under me
His lady's aching to bring a body down
She daily preaches on where she wants to be
An evening with a movie queen
A face we all have seen
Brooklyn owes the charmer under me
Brooklyn owes the charmer under me
A case of aces done up loose for dealing
A piece of island cooling in the sea
The whole of time we gain or lose
And power enough to choose
Brooklyn owes the charmer under me
Brooklyn owes the charmer under me
Yeah, Brooklyn owes the charmer under me
A race of angels
Bound with one another
A dish of dollars
Laid out for all to see
A tower room at Eden Rock
His golf at noon for free
Brooklyn owes the charmer
Under me
His lady's aching
To bring a body down
She daily preaches
On where she wants to be
An evening with a movie queen
A face we all have seen
Brooklyn owes the charmer
Under me
A case of aces
Done up loose for dealing
A piece of island cooling in the sea
The whole of time we gain or lose
And power enough to choose
Brooklyn owes the charmer
My baby's in Brooklyn on the East Coast
Out on the road, what he loves the most
And tonight, I lay down alone
Wait for my baby to come back home
In the life we lead, we love, we bleed alone
And I tell myself I have to be strong
Cause we live, we die, we fail, we try, on the road
I'm in NoHo on the Westside,
I work days and bleed nights
And I look to you by my side
One of these days the timing's gonna be right
I'm gonna keep my word and be your wife
There's gotta be something that brings me home
Cause we live, we fail, we try, on the road,
Yeah, you got it...
Don't ever let someone
Get in the way of what you love
Stay true (Brooklyn)
Stay true (Japan)
Stay true (Berlin)
Buying some vintage records in Williamsberg stores
Playing paper boats on east river shores
Meeting mermaids and lobsters in Coney Island
Puking our deep fried Oreos in Astroland
Spending our days watching skylines from rooftops
On independance day, Manhattan fireworks
Life is easier where the walls are red
Brooklyn is a place stuck in my head
Here in Paris the rain is falling
My heart belongs to Brooklyn
I'm sick of four star food,
I want to be where life is
As simple as two bucks pizza slices
I swear I'll tell you,
next time I knock at your door
That I am not leaving Brooklyn anymore
Would it be that nice if you were not part of it?
Would Brooklyn be worth crossing the Atlantic
Life is easier where we can join our hands
Your face is a face that's stuck in my head
Here in Paris rain is falling
My heart belongs to Brooklyn
Life is easier where we can join our hands
Your face is a face that's stuck in my head
Here in Paris rain is falling
It's a song i wrote for no one
and no one's gonna hear,
'cause i'd sooner die than sing
it there aint nobody here.
Followed her from brooklyn,
from brooklyn where she ran.
breading hearts, stealing cars,
and smoking cigarettes.
Well she's pretty and she's skinny and she hasn't got a clue that i'd be staring at her coffee as the cup begins to dool.
Seen her on the subway, first time i ever did so i
followed her down the street to her apartment and i
sat there until morning, just a staring at the door.
The air is cool but visions of her hair will keep me warm, her hair will keep me warm.
When she left i snuck across and stuck a note insider her box it read "my dear you are so lovely and i'd really love to talk."
When she got home then she read and said "my god,
what do you mean?" i don't know, i just go, where my
heart leads me. Where my heart leads me.
Well i should have known something when she
called the police, well i should have known somehting shen she asked me to leave but a man just can't give up on a girl he wants to keep.
Where my heart leads me.
I hope I see you soon
Because you're fond of me and I am fond of you
These days I guess that's all it takes
That and just a few mistakes
And I have made mistakes
Yes I have made mistakes today
Yes I have made mistakes today
Yes I have made mistakes
So tonight I'll be your Brooklyn
So cold yet so far away
Just tell me what you want for me to say
And if it brings you home
I guess it's safe to say
We both could use this fire escape
Cause I have been breathing ashes in
And I've been waiting for something to carry me away
Yes I have made mistakes today
Yes I have made mistakes today
Yes I have made mistakes
So tonight I'll be your Brooklyn
So cold yet so far away
Just tell me what you want for me to say
And if it brings you home
So I hope you travel safe
And I hope you're cool I hope you find your way
Because it's sad but it is safe to say
We disagree on one too many things
And I have made mistakes today
Yes I have made mistakes today
Oh Brooklyn, I wanna come home
Oh Brooklyn, I'm tired of the road
No love, no lust, all ashes to dust
Though we burn deep down, we bottle it up.
Time to leave.
And it's cold out front, the sun's coming up
And we're counting down, heat's on in the truck
And what's one more day? This distance remains hard for
Oh Brooklyn, I wanna come home
Oh Brooklyn, I'm tired of the road
Morn' come, my heart, I can't stop the spinnin'
The wind, it sings, the words pull me in.
But slow down, take care, it's darker out there than it
seems.
Oh Brooklyn, I wanna come home
Oh Brooklyn, I'm tired of the road
And the parts of me that call for you,
At this moment, they are screaming out loud.
Oh Brooklyn, where are you now?
Wholly, hold me, know what you don't see,
It might mean more than the lies that you told me.
Aye, wholly, hold me, know what you don't see,
It might mean more to me.
Oh Brooklyn, I wanna come home
Oh Brooklyn, I'm tired of the road
Oh Brooklyn, I wanna come home
Oh Brooklyn, I'm tired of the road
And the parts of me that call for you,
At this moment, they're screaming out loud.
Oh Brooklyn, where are you now?
Oh your lips should've never touched,
your bodies should've never met but,
what's done is done, and its done,
Tell yourself that.
Everything, everything is gonna be alright.
Don't keep trying,
coz I'll never be your perfect lullaby,
maybe just in your dreams,
One day you'll get what you deserve,
at least I hope so.
So you'll finally know exactly what you're worth,
Tell yourself that.
Everything, everything is gonna be alright.
Don't keep trying,
coz I'll never be your perfect lullaby,
maybe just in your dreams.
You may have been the anchor,
but I was the whole damn ship,
and we both know, I can get back to shore without you.
[Mos Def]
Hey hey, ha ha say what say what
Ha ha bust it yo
Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
Is the city I live in, is beautiful Brooklyn
Long as I live here believe I'm on fire hey
Cuz it's the B-the-R-the-O-the-O-K
L-Y-N is the place where I stay
The B-the-R-the-O-the-O-K
Best in the world and all USA
It's the B-to-the-R-the-O-the-O-K
L-Y-N is the place where I stay
The B-to-the-R-the-O-the-O-K
Place where I rest is on my born day
Bust it, sometimes I sit back and just reflect
Watch the world go by and my thought connect
I think about the time past and the time to come
Reminesce on Bed-Stuy when I was pride and young
I used to try and come, to the neighborhood function
Throw on my Izod, say a little something
When I was just a youngin, before the days of thuggin
How me and Charlie Chims (aiyyo what?) I'm only buggin
Fast forward, Nine-Now I gotta team my seed
I must proceed at God's speed to perform my deed
Livin the now space and time, round the nine to five
For as long as I'm alive, paw I got to strive
I ain't sittin roadside, that ain't harder to plan
I'm out here for my fam doin all that I can
I love my city, sweet and gritty in land to outskirts
Nickname Bucktown cuz we grown to outburst
Philosophy redefine us, touch mines I touch back
Walk the streets like a sweet and get beat like drum tracks
Catch no shakes over jakes (boomp-boomp!) we bust back
Bring the marty to your face wit no place to run back
I'm from the slums that created the bass that thump back
This ain't a game clown, play ya James Brown and jump back
What you want, Jack? Young cats stash they jums at
Draw they guns back, momma screams where she sons at
Tryin to hunt that, recurring dream of high stakes
The fourth largest, first artist, Brooklyn is the place
Settled by the judge many years ago
Three billion strong and here we go
[Mos Def]
GOOD MORNINNNNNNNNNGG VIETNAM!!!
Ha (back up back up back up back up back up) [repeated in background]
Yo sometimes I sit back, reflect on the place that I live at
Unlike any place I ever been at
The home of big gats, deep dish hammer rim caps
Have a mishap, push ya wig back
Where you go to get the fresh trim at
Four on the jake got the Timb rack
Blue collars metro carding it
Thugs mobbin it, form partnership
Increase armorment, street pharmacist
Deep consequence, when you seek sleek ornaments
You get caught, rode the white horse and can't get off
Big dogs that trick off just get sent off
They shoebox stash is all they seeds gotta live off
It's real yo but still yo, it's love here
And it's felt by anybody that come here
Out of towners take the train, plane and bus here
Must be something that they really want here
One year as a resident, deeper sentiment
Shoutout "Go Brooklyn!", they representin it
Sittin on they front stoop sippin Guinesses
Usin native dialect in they sentences
From the treeline blocks to the tenaments
To the Mom & Pop local shop menaces
Travel all around the world in great distances
And ain't a place that I know that bear resemblance
That's why we it The Planet
Not a borough or a prov, it's our style that's uncalm
From ?sun? to the ? to the Lafayette Gardens
Wycoff-Gowanus in they army jacket linings
Yo this goes out to my cats in Coney Isle
Friday night out in front The Himalaya goin wild
This goes out to Crown Heights and Smurv Village
The nighties, and all my Yardie-Trini Brown's Village
Parkside tenants caught, thirties, forties, and the fifties
The cats out in Starrett City gettin busy
To the Hook, to the East, to the Stuy
Bushwick and Canarsie, Farragut, Ft Greene, and Marcy
My Flatbush posse, generals of armies
When it's time to form, just call me
And let this song be, playin' loud in Long B
If you love Bucktown STRONGLY!
RAISE IT UP!
[Mos Def]
Brooklyn my habitat, the place where it happen at
Live sway and the sharp balance of the battle axe
Irons is brandished at, thugs draw they hammer back
It's where you find the news tool crew cameras at
It's where my fam is at, summertime jame is at
They play Big and get you open like a sandal back
Hotter than candle wax, hustlin you can't relax
The crack babies tryin to find where they mama's at
It's off the handle black, wit big police scandals that
Turn into actions screenplays sold to Miramax
The type of place where they check your appearance at
And cats who know where all the hot 'lo gear is at
The stompin grounds, where you find a pound, smoke is that
Be blazin charm that have your wave cap floatin back
The doorstep where the disposessed posted at
Dope fiends out at Franklin Ave sellin zovarax
You big ballin better keep your money folded back
Cuz once the young guns notice that it's over, black
Brooklyn keep on takin it, worldwide we known for that
Flossy cats get it snatched like the local tax
The place I sharpen up my baritone vocals at

Brought the answer to all of the love we've been saving
All the hoping, all the needing
Turned the dreams of a vision into the real thing
Brooklyn, child of music
Your song is of love
Brooklyn, came together
And I thank God above
Daddy felt you 'fore he saw you

Never ever, have I ever said I was good lookin'
Just one bad ass bitch from Brooklyn
Not here to steal your loot, your coat, your rocks

Shit stink, niggas are slick, have you turnin' tricks

'Cause I'm sayin' and doin' ill shit they won't forget
Breakin' down doors, although I never break laws
Come to a town that's yours and I be rippin' the whole tour
Comin' hard for your section, slow up
Live in the flesh and about to blow up
So yo, come down, and then get the fuck up
Looks are hooked, you lucked up, you're booked
You gotta be hard 'cause I ain't with softies
Hit, then you miss, gotta get offa this
So come with your game 'cause you can't be lame

Hello nigga, blue tapin' and make green
You ain't really that much I can't see
So I will scream somewhere from this dirt
One hand over, the other on 6.30
Murder, murder, yeah, I know the feeling
You're meditating
Yeah, I've been feeling shit
You need a phone check-up
Got those days
'You want everything in a Chico
Put my name on 'and Billboards
And hang it with some pimps and real whores
They'll think that I kill folks
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
Brooklyn is my house and I'm the fresh green from it
You're turning brown you need some belle air
'All gone
Did you go, did you smoke my money?
Troubles are on blow
All I got is a hundred dollar bill
If you ain't talking money then you got to chill
'I know how to step
I still made you without a budget
We like to think is'
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
'We don't want the corner
We are taking the whole street
And I'm looking like something you can't fit
Gangsta, gangsta, tell me how you do it?
You are running through the city
Like really it ain't nothing to it
'Tell me what you call that?
Anybody get it
Who wants it?
Yeah, that Brooklyn bullshit
We're on it
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby
It's all about Brooklyn, baby

I'm taking a train to Brooklyn
I'm gonna learn how to rhyme
I'll change my name to M.C. Something
(When I learn how to rhyme)
I...
Way down
Your fears I see through
No luck
Your reputation precedes you
If I sit any longer I'm gonna choke and
If you sent any money I'll still be broke and
You can wait forever for this shite to fly
You're losing your minds, well it's finally time
I'm not so glad I've got my whole life left to live
I'm taking a train to Brooklyn
(To learn how to rhyme)
I'm taking a train to Brooklyn
(To Brooklyn)
I'll change my name to M.C. Something
(When I learn how to rhyme)
I...
You know I can't afford to hate you pretty baby, now
say it now baby, say it now baby
*repeat 4x*
I'm taking a train to Brooklyn
(To learn how to rhyme)
I'm taking a train to Brooklyn
(To Brooklyn)
I'll change my name to M.C. Something
(When I learn how to rhyme)
[Intro:]
You know what this shit means man (what?)
You know what this means for M.O.P. shit to pop?
You know what it means for Brooklyn?
For New York? For the fuckin streets?
For niggaz that ain't got nothin
From shit to sugar! My nigga
No compromise (at all) no changin (nope never)
M.O.P. is the streets - we ARE Brooklyn! (Salute)
Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, East New York
Across the 'Ville, Coney Island, Red Hook
All downtown Brooklyn man, it's G's around here
[Chorus: x2]
Brooklyn! (Go 'head now) {C'MON NOW! }
Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn
Brooklyyyyyyyn! (Go 'head now) {C'MON NOW! }
Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn
[Billy Danze:]
Geah! Since these niggaz don't take the day off
Your bullshit may not pay off
I'm a give you a guide on when you can ride
And which blocks you should stay off
Which projects you should go around
With or without a pound
(If these niggaz catch you on they grounds)
They gon' lay yo' ass down
Now I ain't tryin to play you like a pawn and choose your every move
(We ain't sayin you a bitch either) but dude let's keep it cool
Keep your heater, it's nippy out, even when you see the sun
Don't be flashin your ones, bumpin your gums or fixin your gun
In East New York (East New York nigga) them niggaz keep it rockin
Them Coney Island niggaz is wild, they smile when they be poppin
My God, them Fort Greene niggaz is beyond hard
They brick, I mean they sick, and they roll thick
Man there's blocks in Crown Heights, that ain't even got lights
It's dark, AND YOU DON'T WANNA GET CAUGHT UP IN ALBANY PARK NOW DO YA?
There's sparks down on Nostrand, there's sparks down on Kingston
Come anywhere near the 'Ville, I don't know what the fuck you thinkin
This is
[Chorus]
[Lil' Fame:]
Nigga just cock the burner, nigga just pop the burner
Nigga got ROCKED with the burner, it's a dirty game of murder
Get caught up at the ropes - nigga it's over
You a lucky nigga if yo' ass, ever even get a chance, to come out a coma
A lot of my dawgs around here, got a college education
And, they ain't get it from Penn State (NOPE) they got it from the state pen
It's veterans to rookies, niggaz that pop off, and niggaz that's pussy
But believe me dawg it ring off 'round here
Now I'm from (BROOKLYN) and I'm soldier, I'm sinister
Every day of my life is a like a moving Marxmen cinema
I'm from where them niggaz be squeezin, where your man got killed at
Back in the day cause he ain't wanna come the fuck up off the cheapskate
And I know it ain't shit out here, but believe me I'm still out here
Man the niggaz done seen me and asked what the fuck I'm doin out here
I'm live from the borough of B-Rrah-O, O-KAYYYY
L-Y-N, I'm an N-Y-G from N.Y.C., that's
[Chorus]
[Outro: Lil' Fame]

Black out in Brooklyn I'm so hard naked with lady crashed my car
Maxed out all of my credit cards black out in Brooklyn

Heading out to Detroit got the call the motor city's jumping maybe I should stay
Curtain calls coming we'll have to stall a red heads finding her way back stage
