I know someday very soon
You are going to go
You hid away your walking shoes
Your loss would hurt me so
Well put them on and lace them up
You need to understand
I was only fooling Mary Ann
There's an old hazy moon
Floating through July
Alone in an open field
I thought I'd soon die
Well I shivered till the sun came up
Till you took my hand
I was only fooling Mary Ann
I was only fooling
When I said be my wife
Fooling when I thanked God
That you'd come into my life
Forever and a day I'd love you
You didn't understand
I was only fooling Mary Ann
