Wilford Val Oveson (born February 11, 1952) is an American Republican Party politician in the state of Utah. Oveson has held several state offices in Utah, most notably the third Lieutenant Governor of Utah, and the federal office of National Taxpayer Advocate for the Internal Revenue Service. He resides in Bountiful, Utah.

Oveson was raised in Orem, Utah, where his father worked for Geneva Steel. He attended Brigham Young University and earned a degree in accounting. He became a certified public accountant, working for an Orem accounting firm for several years before starting his own accounting and auditing business.

Oveson launched his political career with a successful run for Utah State Auditor in 1980. The Republican Party's presumptive nominee had been disqualified from running because he had not lived in Utah for the required five years. Oveson became the Republican nominee instead and soon became the youngest person elected to statewide office in Utah at the age of 28. His performance as State Auditor led Utah House of Representatives Speaker Norm Bangerter to say that he "audit[ed] like a junkyard dog."

Cotton Lyndal Hill is a dead American fictional character in the animated series King of the Hill. He is the father of Hank Hill, Good Hank Hill or "G.H.", and Junichiro (his illegitimate half-Japanese son). He is also a World War II veteran who had his shins "blowed off by a Japanman's machine gun" in combat, and later had his feet attached to his knees. This made him a foot shorter than his fellow family members and caused a characteristic waddle. According to Hank, Cotton was 6' 4" (1.93 m) with his shins and was 5' 0" (1.524 m) without. Despite his disability, he eventually reached the rank of Colonel in the Texas State Militia, and was addressed as such by his friends. Cotton was voiced by Toby Huss.

Cotton was zealously proud of his military service record and his status as a war hero, although he tended to exaggerate his exploits. He often claims to anyone who will listen that he killed "fitty (50) men" during the war. He consistently reminded everyone within earshot about how he lost his shins during World War II:

Rickey Smiley (born in Birmingham, Alabama) is a standup comedian, television host, actor, and radio personality best known for his prank phone calls. The calls feature Smiley disguising his voice and carrying on a conversation with the recipient of the call.

Smiley graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, AL and Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and is known for informing audiences of his membership in his acts. Smiley is also a pianist, often playing the piano in his shows, and an organist and sometimes refers to himself playing it at his home church.

Smiley has two biological children, but has adopted eight others.^{[citation needed]}

Smiley appeared as the host of the 2000 season of BET's "ComicView" program. He has also appeared on "Showtime at the Apollo", HBO's "Def Comedy Jam", HBO's "Snaps", "The Nashville Network", "Uptown Comedy Club", and "Comic Escape". He is known as one of the few "clean" African American comics, preferring to use humor rather than vulgarity to get laughs. His original comedy routines often feature the role-play of fictional characters such as "Bernice Jenkins" (AKA Granny Swims, Ms. Johnson or Mrs. Francis), "Lil' Daryl", "Rusty Dale" and "Beauford". Bernice Jenkins has a grandson named Rufus, who's a stereotype of the modern day "Gangsta". He is referenced in "Two Of My Toes Fell Off" and another prank phone call where Smiley calls a pharmacy.

Elizabeth Warren (born June 22, 1949) is an American bankruptcy law expert, policy advocate, Harvard Law School professor, and Democratic Party candidate in the 2012 United States Senate election in Massachusetts. She has written several academic and popular books concerning the American economy and personal finance. She contributed to the oversight of the 2008 U.S. bailout program, and also led the conception and establishment of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Warren attended The George Washington University and the University of Houston. She received a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Newark in 1976. Warren taught law at several universities and was listed by the Association of American Law Schools as a minority law professor throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In the wake of the U.S. financial crisis, Warren served as chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel created to oversee the Troubled Assets Relief Program in 2008. She later served as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under U.S. President Barack Obama.

Lester McCumbers (b. Big Run, Calhoun County, West Virginia, August 15, 1921) is an old-time fiddler from Nicut, West Virginia. His students include Erynn Marshall and Jake Krack.

He also makes fiddles, sometimes using local woods.

He utilizes the "pancake grip" when holding his fiddle; that is, he rests the fiddle against his chest rather than under his chin, with the palm of his hand flat against the bottom of the fiddle's neck.

In December 1937, at the age of 16, McCumbers married the singer Malinda (known as Linda) McCumbers, with whom he performed for many decades. They had nine children together, some of whom are also musicians. Their son Roger, who played banjo, died in 1998 at age 43.

McCumbers often performs with his wife and children, as well as the banjo player Kim Johnson, who lives near him. He is a frequent visitor to the Appalachian String Band Music Festival in Clifftop, Fayette County, West Virginia, where he has won first prize in the fiddle competition for his age group.

McCumbers was featured in The New York Times in 1999.
