Road to ... refers to a series of seven comedy films starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour. They are also often referred to as the "Road" pictures or the "Road" series. The movies were a combination of adventure, comedy, romance, and music. The minimal plot often took a back seat to gags, many of them supposedly ad-libbed by Crosby and Hope during filming.
Rumor[who?] has it that, during the filming of "...Singapore", Dotty Lamour said to the camera, "Hey fellas, I haven't had a line for ages!" From that time on, the scene was set for what was one of the most enduring franchises in the history of motion pictures.
Beginning with the Road to Singapore the films also included in-joke references to other Hollywood actors and jabs at Paramount Pictures, the studio that released all the films except for The Road to Hong Kong. There are also frequent instances in which Bob Hope breaks the fourth wall to address the audience directly, such as in the Road to Bali, in which he says, "[Crosby]'s gonna sing, folks. Now's the time to go out and get the popcorn."
Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley (born July 21, 1978) is a Jamaican reggae artist who has won three Grammy awards. Damian is the youngest son of Bob Marley.
Damian was two years old when his father, Bob Marley, died; he is the only child born to Marley and Cindy Breakspeare, Miss World 1976. Damian's nickname Junior Gong is derived from his father's nickname of Tuff Gong. Marley has been performing since the age of 13. He shares, along with most of his family, a full-time career in music.
Marley has described his music as "dancehall and reggae. I've noticed...people trying to separate the two of them," he continues. "It's Jamaican culture in general. I don't try to classify or separate."
At age 13, he formed a musical group by the name of the Shephards, which included the daughter of Freddie McGregor and son of Third World's Cat Core. The group opened the 1992 Reggae Sunsplash festival. The band fell apart in the early 1990s and Damian started his solo career.
With the backing of his father’s label, Tuff Gong, he released his 1996 debut album Mr. Marley which surprised many who were unaccustomed to hearing a Marley deejaying rather than singing. Damian’s brother, Stephen Marley, was a producer and co-author for this album.
Chris Rea ( /ˈriːə/ REE-ə; born Christopher Anton Rea, 4 March 1951) is an English singer-songwriter, recognisable for his distinctive, husky voice and slide guitar playing. The British Hit Singles & Albums stated that Rea was "one of the most popular UK singer-songwriters of the late 1980s. He was already a major European star by the time he finally cracked the UK Top 10 with his 18th chart entry; "The Road to Hell (Part 2)". By 2009, Rea had sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.
He is well known for his 1978 hit song "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" that charted #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent three weeks at #1 on the U.S. Billboard adult contemporary chart. The song was later covered by Elkie Brooks and was a top 20 hit in the UK.
Although Rea had limited success in the United States, two of his albums, The Road to Hell and Auberge, topped the UK Albums Chart. The book Guinness Rockopedia described him as a "gravel-voiced guitar stalwart".
Rea was born in Middlesbrough, England, the son of ice cream producer Camillo Rea who together with his brother Gaetano owned an ice cream factory and ran twenty-one cafés.
O light shine down on me You know what I need Shine down on me Shine down on the garden Shine down on the garden
Sweet earth alive under me You know what I need Cradle me like a seed As I lay in the garden As I lay in the garden
O wise and beautiful tree Standing high over me Oh the things you have seen Tell me your story in the garden Tell it to me in the garden
And tell me How long have we slept How long have we wept There's work to be done
Sky above So vast and so deep You know what I need Rain down on me Rain down on the garden Rain down on the garden
O light surrounding me Sweet mystery In everything I see Come and find me in the garden Come and find me in the garden
Nothing's working for me today Maybe I'll go for a walk in the rain I'm soaking wet but my heart's on fire I can't show it but I'm all desire
Fox in throat, hand in sleeve We try and ask for what we need
Getting lost in all the one way streets Keep on walking until we meet I never know just what to say I only remember when you walk away
Word in hand and rubber lips We let it fall from our fingertips
We cannot choose the ones we love When our hearts they speak so loudly We can only listen We can only listen
Would it be easier beneath the sun Where apples fall and rivers run And I'd be lying there next to you In the silence it all comes through
And then we wouldn't have to speak All you'd hear is my heart-beat
When we first met I thought you were an angel You were nothing of the kind But you had me fooled For lying enough To get me caught up in this spiral
And you know me How long it takes To get my heart out of my head Strange this time It never crossed my mind Guess I was busy watching you instead
Oh, baby, I don't think I ever In my life, thought I'd say forever I think it's the first time I think it's the last time
Cause you're the one and only You're my one and only You're the one and only one for me
I waited all my life For it to feel just right To find what it is I think I found It feels like I've been hit That guy moves in my mind Like he's lifting me right off the ground
Oh, baby, I don't think I ever In my life, thought I'd say forever I think it's the first time I think it's the last time
Cause you're the one and only You're my one and only You're the one and only one for me
I get up in the evening And I ain't got nothing to say I come home in the morning I go to bed feeling the same way I ain't nothing but tired Man I´m just tired and bored with myself Hey there baby I could use just a little help
-Chorus- You can't start a fire You can't start a fire without a spark This gun's for hire Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Message keeps getting clearer Radio's on and I'm moving 'round the place I check my look in the mirror I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face Man I ain't getting nowhere just living In a dump like this There's something happening somewhere Baby I just know that there is
-Chorus-
You sit around getting older There's a joke here somewhere and it's on me I'll shake this world off my shoulder Come on baby the laugh's on me
Stay on the streets of this town And they'll be carving you up all right They say you gotta stay hungry Hey baby I'm just about starving tonight I'm dying for some action I'm sick of sitting 'round here trying to write This book I need a love reaction Come on now baby gimme just one look
This world is full of trouble and woe This world is full of trouble and woe All I see is trouble, everywhere I go I'm gonna sing the trouble that I know
This world is full of sadness and tears This world is full of sadness and tears They fill us full of sayings, and full of fear I'm gonna sing until my eyes are clear
Gonna dig deep down into my heart Gonna dig deep down into to my heart Gonna dig deep down, I'm gonna do my part I'm gonna sing, sing a brand new start
This world is full of promise and love This world is full of promise and love Promise of a new day with no dark clouds above And I'm gonna sing that world I'm dreamin' of
This world is full of joy and mystery This world is full of joy and mystery This world will be our joy, I believe it will be When we know what it is to be free
Just rang to say I got your valentine Does it make me yours Or does it make you mine It's hard to tell I struggle with your scrawl Some words were a little smudged And some not there at all I must have been crazy Lost in your blood-shot eyes again But love she marches in And takes us like an army now and then
Baby, it's cold outside Come in and stay awhile You know you want to You know you want to
Baby, it's cold outside The streets are dark and the winds are wild And I want you I want you
Mmm, come inside Mmm, come inside
Baby, what do you say? I can't think of a better way To spend the night Let's do it right
Your smile is bright as the moon tonight I can see you in my mind's eye And I want you I want you
Mmm, come inside Mmm, stay awhile
Baby, won't you come with me It's bad out there like a stormy sea I wanna keep you safe I wanna keep you safe
I know you're scared and so am I But you tell me yours and I'll tell you mine Cause I think it's time Yeah, I think it's time
I think I know how to love you I think I know how to love you I think you know that I want to I think you know that I want to
Come and find me In the valley Down in the deep green Oh hear my call
By the river I'll wait beside her Come and deliver Your love so tall
And on the soft breeze We'll find the fruit trees And we'll pick sweet cherries To our hearts' content
And then we'll take flight Up in these wild skies And we'll greet the moonrise When the day is spent
We'll build a nest With twigs and branches Leaves and pebbles Flowers and mud
We'll make it pretty We'll build it steady And we'll get it ready To hold our love
And in the winter Our wings will cover One another Against the cold
We'll lie together We'll stay forever Birds of a feather Till we grow old
Babe, we're living in the red And it's making me blue We're living worlds apart We could see each other through You're always looking out And I'm always looking in We gotta meet in the middle Find a way to begin First we were dying in the heat Now we're crying in the cold Come and get me baby Before I get too old
If love is everything Then we've got nothing without love Nothing without love
You're always running from case to case I'm running from place to place Now I'm here in the streets of this loosing town Looking for a friendly face I know you alone can fix it I got a hole in my heart Find us somewhere to land Or find us some place to start
If love is everything Then we've got nothing without love Nothing without love
This heart's been borrowed And this heart's been blue This heart feels old And it's dying to feel new It can't wait forever Not even for you So give me a sing, baby Any sign will do
If love is everything Then we've got nothing without love Nothing without love
If love is everything We've got nothing without love
If love is everything Then we've got nothing without love
If love is everything Then we've got nothing without love
If love is everything Then we've got nothing without love
If love is everything Then we've got nothing without love
There is a place
Not far from here
A time and space hard to define
But you know it's near
Because you've seen it
Once or twice
Maybe more
This paradise
No frills no thrills
All is still
Within without you
There is a train
That's free to board
It runs all hours of the day
Of its own accord
So stop thinking
You will understand
Stop searching
You will find
That you are there
It is here and everywhere
