Bob Dylan's return to Los Angeles for the final of three consecutive shows at Dolby Theatre. On this night we were treated to the debut cover performance of "Stay With Me" (replacing "All Along the Watchtower" and "Blowin’ in the Wind"). This was the final song of the night. The lighting was very dark during the performance so this will be more of an audio experience for you. At 03:01 the lights are up for the final non-verbal thanks and farewell. Bob Dylan is accompanied by Tony Garnier, George Recile, Stu Kimball, Charlie Sexton, and Donnie Herron. "Stay With Me" (original lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, music composed by Jerome Moross) was first recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1963 and used as the main them for the movie The Cardinal. This was my first time seeing Dylan perform live. I was unfamiliar with many of the songs performed this night since the set was heavy to his most recent releases. But I loved what I heard and look forward to buying these albums. The songs, the sound, performance were all great! Thought I'd post this previously unseen recording of a Dylan press conference from 1986. I shot it in Brett Whiteley's studio and it's sat on the shelf since then. I found the old tape and thought I'd share it to celebrate the 24th May. Happy Birthday Bob Dylan and thanks for everything you've shared with us over the years. Brendon Stretch 2013
Just found this bit of an interview of Bob Dylan being interviewed in the 60's.I didn't even realize I still had it. This came on TV around 2007 and I began to record after I sensed things were getting a bit tense. But of course just as it was getting interesting I ran out of space on my recorder. Typical. I must admit at times I cringed as I watched this. The interviewer seemed a bit out of his depth.

In his first non-print interview since 2004 Bob Dylan finally breaks his silence about The Basement Tapes. The basement recordings were made during 1967, after Dylan had withdrawn to his Woodstock home in the aftermath of a motorcycle accident on July 29, 1966. Dylan has referred to commercial pressures behind the basement recordings in a 1969 interview with Rolling Stone: "They weren't demos for myself, they were demos of the songs. I was being PUSHED again into coming up with some songs. You know how those things go."In October 1967, a fourteen-song demo tape was copyrighted and the compositions were registered with Dwarf Music, a publishing company jointly owned by Dylan and his manager Albert Grossman.Acetates and tapes of the songs then circulated among interested recording artists. Peter, Paul and Mary had the first hit with a basement composition when their cover of "Too Much of Nothing" reached number 35 on the Billboard chart in late 1967. Ian & Sylvia, also managed by Grossman, recorded "Tears of Rage", "Quinn the Eskimo" and "This Wheel's on Fire". In January 1968, Manfred Mann reached number one on the UK pop chart with their recording of "The Mighty Quinn". In April, "This Wheel's on Fire", recorded by Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity, hit number five on the UK chart. That same month, a version of "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" by the Byrds was issued as a single. Along with "Nothing Was Delivered",it appeared on their country-rock album Sweetheart of the Rodeo, released in August. The Hawks, officially renamed the Band, recorded "This Wheel's on Fire", "I Shall Be Released" and "Tears of Rage" for their debut album, Music from Big Pink, released in July 1968. Fairport Convention covered "Million Dollar Bash" on their 1969 album Unhalfbricking. In July 1969, the first rock bootleg appeared in California, entitled Great White Wonder. The double album consisted of seven songs from the Woodstock basement sessions, plus some early recordings Dylan had made in Minneapolis in December 1961 and one track recorded from The Johnny Cash Show. One of those responsible for the bootleg, identified only as Patrick, talked to Rolling Stone: "Dylan is a heavy talent and he's got all those songs nobody's ever heard. We thought we'd take it upon ourselves to make this music available." The process of bootlegging Dylan's work would eventually see the illegal release of hundreds of live and studio recordings, and lead the Recording Industry Association of America to describe Dylan as the most bootlegged artist in the history of the music industry.

noodls 2015-02-28Bob Dylan ( /ˈdɪlən/), born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, is an American singer-songwriter, musician and artist. He has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for five decades. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when he was an informal chronicler and a seemingly reluctant figurehead of social unrest. A number of Dylan's early songs, such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are a-Changin'", became anthems for the US civil rights and anti-war movements. Leaving his initial base in the culture of folk music behind, Dylan's six-minute single "Like a Rolling Stone" has been described as radically altering the parameters of popular music in 1965. However, his recordings employing electric instruments attracted denunciation and criticism from others in the folk movement.
Dylan's lyrics incorporated a variety of political, social, philosophical, and literary influences. They defied existing pop music conventions and appealed hugely to the then burgeoning counterculture. Initially inspired by the songs of Woody Guthrie,Robert Johnson, and Hank Williams, as well as the music and performance styles of Buddy Holly and Little Richard, Dylan has both amplified and personalized musical genres. His recording career, spanning fifty years, has explored numerous distinct traditions in American song—from folk, blues and country to gospel, rock and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music, embracing even jazz and swing.
Louis "Studs" Terkel (May 16, 1912 – October 31, 2008) was an American author, historian, actor, and broadcaster. He received the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction in 1985 for The Good War, and is best remembered for his oral histories of common Americans, and for hosting a long-running radio show in Chicago.
Terkel was born to Samuel Terkel, a Russian Jewish tailor and his wife, Anna Finkelin in New York City, New York. At the age of eight he moved with his family to Chicago, Illinois, where he spent most of his life. He had two brothers, Ben (1907–1965) and Meyer (1905–1958).
From 1926 to 1936, his parents ran a rooming house that also served as a meeting place for people from all walks of life. Terkel credited his understanding of humanity and social interaction to the tenants and visitors who gathered in the lobby there, and the people who congregated in nearby Bughouse Square. By 1939, he had grown to adulthood, marrying Ida Goldberg (1912–1999) that year, and the couple produced one son, Dan. Although he received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1934, he decided instead of practicing law, he wanted to be a concierge at a hotel, and he soon joined a theater group.
[Verse 1: Young Jeezy]F-ck these haters, I'd kill 'em all if I could
Ain't scared of none of y'all, so you know my aim good
Blowin bin Ladie in my Porsche 911
Just left Ground Zero, on my way to kush heaven
Can't slow down, too much evil in my rear view
Sometimes you wanna scream to God, but he can't hear you
And even if you did, this'll probably be his answer
F-ck you complaining about? It ain't like you got cancer
Do it for my niggas on the block that got it worse
First the love, then the hate, that just a trap nigga's curse
I betcha feel like the whole world hatin' on you
But what's the holdup? The whole world waitin' on you
(The fame,)
I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherf-ckers envy
(The fame,)
I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherfuckers envy
[Verse 2: Young Jeezy]You mean to tell me from runnin' my big mouth
That I could chill here in this big penthouse
All elevator'd up, black hardwood floors
Just to sit around and feel like it ain't yours
Your conscience gotcha feelin' like you done somethin' wrong
But the flatscreen say motherf-cker, we on
Pardon me, nigga, do you see this view?
See Ruth's Chris from here, what the f-ck's wrong wit' you
Lookin' at my Rollie, yeah, it's almost seven
Bill Gates state of mind wit' a automatic weapon
You might 'member me from puttin' on for the city
Or back when it was on two, goin' for the fitty
Opened up a few squares, opened up a few tours
Just to show niggas keys open up doors
"Oh, we don't f-ck wit' Young no mo'" Why not?
The only thing I can figure, 'cause he on top
(The fame,)
I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherfuckers envy
(The fame,)
I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherfuckers envy
(The fame,)
[Verse 3: T.I.]What up, world? Long time, huh?
Hey, look
Lately, I been off and out of sight, seldom out of mind
Ay, getcha bidne' right, and stay the hell up out of mind
I'm out my mind, tryin' to fix it 'fore I'm out of time
Don't worry 'bout me, God got me, bruh, I'm doin' fine
Another year in prison, promise this is it for me
Tryna make it through the storm, should be makin' history
No feelin' sorry for me, keep ya pity and ya sympathy
Good or bad, take it like a man, whatever meant for me
How I did it make 'em hate my spirit, they wish they could kill it
And they'll take it however they can get it
Wanna see me fulla misery, walkin' wit' my head down
"Let's decapitate 'im, then we'll see if he can wear his crown!"
(The fame,)
I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherf-ckers envy
(The fame,)
I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherfuckers envy
(The fame,)
I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherfuckers envy
(The fame,) I wake up and feel empty
Shit make you wanna squeeze your Glock 'til it's empty
I'm already standin' on the edge, so don't tempt me
Fake motherfuckers envy
e marciapiedi piedipatti e marciapiedi piedipatti
e marciapiedi piedipatti e marciapiedi piedipatti
marciapiedi piedipatti e marciapiedi piedipattie marciapiedi piedipatti e marciapiedi piedipatti
Nell'orologio della piazza scatta l'ora X
e testimoni e testimoni e testimoni e testimonie testimoni
e testimoni e testimoni e testimoni
Femme, adieu, femme adieu,
Je suis tout à Dieu,
Adieu
Du silence sur du silence
Et de la musique sacrée,
Des plains-chants don't la résonance
Aura l'écho de mon secret
Ai-je les qualités idoines
Pour marcher en baissant les yeux?
Aurai-je un jour le moi du moine
Au service du dernier Dieu?
Femme, adieu, femme, adieu,
Femme, adieu, femme, adieu,
Je t'aimais,
Désormais
Je te dis adieu
Femme, adieu,
Sache que
Désormais
I used to think my thoughts made me mad - then I realized I was just mad, with thoughts
Taught my hands to speak my mind - the inside of a fist is soft
Had 6 strings to take my mind off of things - to ventilate hostility with positivity
And control my aggressive tendencies - cause what I am is what you hear
It's a piece of me to outlive my flesh - and continue my bloodline
Like a child, yet complete in it's form - like a child, but you can't mold it wrong
An angry kid becomes an angry man
And the pendulum swings like a thinking mind
The pendulum swings and it passes time
Like a mood it swings me wide
Until I've lost my balance and fallen to it
Like a mindquake it puts me through it
Like a hand shake it greets me
As it cheats me of a content life
And in the end we bend to make amends
Before your own angst eats ya
And to those that made winter so cold
I hope your food repeats ya
And in my darkest room I feel my way through - guided by a short leash
Made of sound to keep down - the part of me I fear
It's a piece of me that puts my flesh to the test - gives it power
And devours my awareness - of what's waiting under my skin
It's a piece of me to outlive my flesh - and continue my bloodline
Like a child, yet complete in it's form - like a child, but you can't mold it wrong
An angry kid becomes an angry man
And the pendulum swings like a thinking mind
The pendulum swings and it passes time
Like a mood it swings me wide
Until I've lost my balance and fallen to it
Like a mindquake it puts me through it
Like a hand shake it greets me
As it cheats me of a content life
...And in the end we bend to make amends
'Cause any one of us can blow up
And so I'm not covered in your food before ya do
I really hope ya throw up
An angry kid becomes an angry man
And the pendulum swings like a thinking mind
The pendulum swings and it passes time
Like a mood it swings me wide
Until I've lost my balance and fallen to it
Like a mindquake it puts me through it
Like a hand shake it greets me
As it cheats me of a content life
...And in the end we bend to make amends
'Cause any one of us can blow up
Since I'll be there to collect my share
