Nelly: The only thing that smoothes out the rough edges of my life is cum.
Nelly: Why make one man miserable if I can make alot of 'em happy?
Gabriela: Cybersex is dumb. I mean, how does one type and masturbate at the same time without getting the keyboard all sticky?
Sometimes I like to think about
the stars that cover you.
How they burn out one by one
until another day is through.
You came by when I was sleeping
to unveil your newest plan.
We could get to know each other
in the back seat of your van tonight.
Chorus:
Angels sing around you
in a chorus all night long,
and you transcribe their expressions
in the morning with a song about it.
A little swallowed hole and spat back
up on solid ground.
Half and hour you change your strings and tune up
Sizing the room up
Checking the bar
Local girls unspoken conversations
Misinformation
Plays the guitar
They say Jonah was swallowed by a whale
But I say there's no truth to that tale
I know Jonah
Was swallowed by a song
No one lets their dreams be taken lightly
They hold them tightly
Warm against cold
One more year of traveling 'round this ciruit
Then you can work it into gold
Here's to all the boys who came along
Carrying soft guitars in cardboard cases
All night long
Do you wonder where those boys have gone?
My desire for love had overcome my senses
I longed for someone who could hold me
An open heart lets go of all defenses
Her real intentions had been there to see
I believed it right to keep my devotion
It's so hard to fight when dreams are in motion
For love or money
Do you give me your affection?
For love or money
Do you tear at my emotions?
Only time can tell, the truth in all our feelings
It's cruel to think that you could use me so
When we're blind with love, much can be deceiving
I must confess this thought, I'm scared to know
I believed it right to keep my devotion
It's so hard to fight when dreams are in motion
For love or money
Do you give me your affection?
For love or money
Do you tear at my emotions?
Do you live a lie, you keep so much inside
Will you bleed me dry, one fear I just can't hide
For love or money
Do you give me your affection?
For love or money
These idols that I bow unto overshadow Your face
And clinging onto these I forfeit Your grace
All of these things Ive dreamed of
They will be destroyed
So what I really wants what Im in need of
Lets get straight to the point
I want to rid myself of everything but You
My soul is dying
I want to fill it up with everything that s true
And I am crying
Chorus
Out to You and I am through with everything that's not from You
Lord, take away what's in the way so you're the only thing I see
These worldly thingsthey all will fade
But You will stay You will remain so
Take away what's in the way of You
Lord, lately Im losing focus of what really counts
Ive justified all of my ways and my excuses are out
Lord, take away all that hinders me from seeing You
Cause so what if I gain the whole world, but lose life and lose You?
I want to rid myself of everything but You
My soul is dying
I want to fill it up with everything that's true
And I am crying
Chorus
Bridge
Take away what takes Your place
Im in need of Your grace
All of my idols be erased
You alone I'll bow before
The dogs are still expecting
your father is a general
Benjamin's a murderer
Your sister is a sponge
your mother is worker
Jonah, I ran into your mom
she isn't aging very well
sometimes I think her face is gonna burst
cause hiding pain is work, and your mother is a worker
Jonah, some thoughts about your sister
her eyes are always closed
ever since that day she's held a certain pose
it's not a coma, she's the opposite of numb
some people soak pain up, and your sister is a sponge
and your mother is a worker
Jonah, I still see Ben
but if I bring your name up the conversation ends
cause he loaned you the shotgun you took up to the cabin
whatever people say, he only hears the words 'Benjamin's a murderer'
your sister is a sponge, your mother is a worker
Jonah, Jonah, news about your dad
you thought he drank before
now he drinks, his body is at war and his stomach's never full
cause your father is a general, Benjamin's a murderer,
your sister is a sponge your mother is a worker
Jonah, they gave me your goddamn dogs
I'm sick of what they do
they bark at everything until they see it isn't you
cause the dogs are still expecting, your father is a general
You can hear me call your name
but I haven't said a single word tonight
Like a bird that sails a thermal sky
trusting the invisible
How can I fall?
How can I fail?
When I'm Jonah inside the whale.
So I cry out like a baby
because I know you'll hear my words
And I can get tomorrow
if you hold on to this heart of mine
You can hear my cry for freedom
as I learn to trust the living that's inside
In a world that sells a pack of lies
and draws me to my ego
How can I fall
How can I fail
When I'm Jonah inside the whale
And I know you're always with me
even though you can't be heard
A perfect understanding
as you breathe into this heart of mine
So the fox is in the hole again
The hounds are at the door
News paper stories
lying more and more
There's a little girl starting school today
to learn the whole thing over
But how can she fall
How can she fail
Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. ¶But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land. Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. ¶Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them. Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee. So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows. Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
I was down for the count
Without any real way out
In this new submarine
Like the whale of Jonah's dreams
And what if I should rise up
From several fathoms too
A scar on my soul and a humbling tale of a world
That swallowed me whole
Swallowed me whole
It was harmless enough
While acquiring all this stuff
But the truth in the end
Was a slippery descent
And what if I should rise up
From several fathoms too
A scar on my soul and a humbling tale of a world
That swallowed me whole
Swallowed me whole
I was asleep while the angels were weeping
And racing below me to cushion my fall
And I was just like Jonah
Staring down the whale
A scar on my soul and a humbling tale of a world
That swallowed me whole
Swallowed me whole
Swallowed me whole
I lost myself
Rather images I had of me did tell
How different from truth they were
I think I'm drowning and the ocean is raging
My smile is frowning and my insides are praying
And I've swallowed all my yesterdays
Killed my past to follow the way
I think I'm drowning and the ocean
Screams to me my name
I've fallen in
Or did I jump headfirst into this ocean
All I know is I cannot swim
I think I'm drowning and the ocean is raging
My smile is frowning and my insides are praying
And I've swallowed all my yesterdays
Killed my past to follow the way
I think I'm drowning and the ocean
Screams to me my name
I know that you'll dry all my tears
I know you're beyond all my fears
I know when I call out your name
My soul you save
I lost myself
Rather images I had of me did tell
How different from truth they were
I think I'm drowning and the ocean is raging
My smile is frowning and my insides are praying
And I've swallowed all my yesterdays
Killed my past to follow the way
I think I'm drowning but I hear you
