The Book of Psalms (Tiberian: Təhillîm; Modern: Tehillim, תְהִלִּים, or "praises"), commonly referred to simply as Psalms, is a book of the Hebrew Bible, the Christian Bible, and the Islamic Zabur. Taken together, its 150 poems "express virtually the full range of Israel's religious faith."
The word psalms is derived from the Greek Ψαλμοί (Psalmoi), perhaps originally meaning "music of the lyre" or "songs sung to a harp" and then to any piece of music. From psallein "play upon a stringed instrument" and then to "make music in any fashion".
The Book of Psalms in its current, most commonly used form consists of 150 songs and prayers referred to individually as psalms and referenced by chapter and verse. They each have a poetic character with frequent use of parallelism. In addition to the title of the collection, which translates as "song" or "hymns" from both Hebrew and Greek, superscriptions (or headings) in many of the Psalms provide musical references and some direction, in some cases even references to melodies that would have been well known by early congregations; however, no musical notation has survived. Songs that can be identified as such in the Psalms include songs of thanksgiving (e.g., Ps 30), hymns of praise (e.g., Ps 117) and royal psalms, which may have been used in coronations and weddings. Identification of some psalms as prayers is also seen within the text, for example in the conclusion to Psalm 72, "The prayers of David son of Jesse are ended." The largest category of Psalms, though not grouped as such in the text, is that of lament (expressions of complaint and pleas for help from God). There appears to also have been an instructional function of the psalms as seen in their references to the law (e.g., Ps 1 and 119).

John William Coltrane (September 23, 1926 – July 17, 1967) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and later was at the forefront of free jazz. He organized at least fifty recording sessions as a leader during his recording career, and appeared as a sideman on many other albums, notably with trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk.
As his career progressed, Coltrane and his music took on an increasingly spiritual dimension. His second wife was pianist Alice Coltrane, and their son Ravi Coltrane is also a saxophonist. Coltrane influenced innumerable musicians, and remains one of the most significant tenor saxophonists in jazz history. He received many posthumous awards and recognitions, including canonization by the African Orthodox Church as Saint John William Coltrane. In 2007, Coltrane was awarded the Pulitzer Prize Special Citation for his "masterful improvisation, supreme musicianship and iconic centrality to the history of jazz."
The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want
Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose
Near restful waters he leads me to revive my dropping spirit
He guides me along the right path
He is true to his name
If I should walk in the valley of darkness, no evil would I fear
You are there with your crook and your staff, with these you give me compfort
You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes
My head you have anointed with oil, my cup is overflowing
Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life
In the Lord's own house shall I dwell for ever and ever
In the Lord's own house shall I dwell for ever
Oh Lord my God (several times)
I called to you for help and you healed me
I will exalt You Lord, for You lifted me out of the depths
I will praise You oh Lord, among the nations
I will sing of You, among the peoples
The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear
He is the stronghold of my life whom shall I fear (x2)
When evil man advance against me to devour my flesh
Du undrar vad jag kommer ifrån
jag kom från ingenstans
där havet mötte himlarnas tak
och bergen inte fanns
Där sov jag drömlöst bredvid dig
i vindens första dans
Jag föddes i det andetag
som blev till liv och död
och slutar i ett nederlag
i tidens överflöd
och lönen är sekunderna
som evigheten bjöd
Jag kommer från en tid
där inget lämnats kvar
Där varken oro eller frid
berättar hur det var
Jag finns i nattens flykt mot dag
Jag delar lust och nöd
med alla er som ödet tog hit
och dömt till liv och död
vi blommar upp och vissnar ner
och tror på något mer
Vi gråter när vi kommer hit
och gråter när vi dör
och borde stannat kvar där vi var
i världen utanför
Där evigheten tystat oss
och ingen vilja stör
Och viljan blir vår tro
och tron är allt vi har
när ensamheten kväver oss
och inget mer finns kvar
Då ropar vi på Gud
och hoppas han har tid
att ge oss lite ner än ro
i evighetens frid
Oh hair of dread, the time is here.
Thirty-three, the sheep draw near with eyes so keen
they cannot hear all the lies that buy their ears.
Oh, horsepants, tobacco chest.
Oh, sex ghost. Oh, nape of neck.
The tears are crashing on her breasts.
The burning bed is out again.
If it's sad, you know it' true.
God is glad on bluer moons.
When your room is all you do, it comes to you.
Oh, my rank ink instrument,
row my boat towards abstinence with thoughts as long as cigarettes.
Snowed in lips and cross protect.
Oh, that birdlike appetite.
Lo, passive fasts make us contrite?
On silken highways of the night,
the spiders crawl my candlelight,
where the sun shines in space.
God is dumb, god is great.
But does he love us all the same?
Are we OK?
And I cried out your name because I loved the sound it made
and because I couldn't wait to see your face.
And nothing ever was the same.
And the stars say, "Look into my eyes."
But I can't change if it's only in my mind.
And I love you but I don't have the right.
but often it happens you know
that the things you don’t trust are the ones you need
most
so it's cautiously into the dark
but you see before long that your eyes will adjust
and under the night you can hear
the full moon rise like a psalm in the air
and the air goes into your lungs
and around in your heart and on through your blood
it goes cautiously into the dark
and you see before long that we all have a part
and under your skin you can feel
that the fear that you feel is what will set you free
and under the night you can hear
the full moon rise like a psalm in the air
Time keeps moving like a highway track;
I'm parked on the shoulder with a broken clutch.
Never used to struggle with keeping up,
till I was drowning in my sorrow with my backside up.
I'm losing touch; I'm desperate.
I need a miracle... need a miracle.
I walked through the shadow with my broken heart;
I know that I need Ya' but I've grown too smart.
Ten thousand reasons I don't give You time,
but it will only take one for you to change my mind.
But, I can't help but think:
that You have moved along, yeah, You've moved right on.
No oh ah...
ooohhhh...
Beneath the smiles and laughter I'm a mess of a catastrophe.
The nights I've spent down on my knees just begging for a sign.
I hope that You can see me now for everything I am:
an all-conflicted joyless soul that's trapped inside a man.
Oh, I can see reason for apathy,
cause You don't need me,
not the way I need You.
Even still, can't help but think I lost
a part of me that used to see a way into Your heart,
cause I'm comfortable right here
with my cup half full; I am comfortable.
I don't need a tragedy to shake my solid ground
and I don't need a fire sent to burn the good I've found.
I understand if You've had a change in plans,
cause You don't need me; not the way I need You.
Suppose that I am partially to blame;
I made some vows that I could never break.
I won't be made a victim, not again.
I need You now to meet me where I am.
I'm losing touch; I'm desperate.
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into a flowing fountain
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
When Israel went out of Egypt
The house of Jacob from a stranger's land
Judah was his sanctuary
Israel, his dominion
Oh, the sea saw it and fled
Jordan was driven back
And the mountains, they skipped like rams
And the little hills like lambs
What saw thee, oh, thou sea?
What saw thee that thou fled?
What saw thee, oh, thou mountains
That thou skipped like rams?
What saw thee, oh thou Jordan
That thou was driven back?
Oh, what saw thee, oh, thou hills
Thou little hills that skipped like lambs?
Tremble the earth at the presence
The presence of the Lord
And the God, the God of Jacob
Tremble all the earth
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He, He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
Oh what saw thee, oh, thou sea?
What saw thee, oh, thou Jordan?
Oh, what saw thee, oh, thou hill?
What saw thee, oh, thou mountain?
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock
He turned the rock that was my heart
That was my heart
He turned the rock that was my heart
And became the time
When the prophecies have been fulfilled
Time that never exist before
All sorts of plague crawled craftily
From the gloomiest places of the universe
Triumph of unreality over reality
Curses are repeated for thousands times
And fool's praying are changing in worms
Animal lust, infected weak minds
Children they children burning atomic pile
All symbols are changed in snakes
Deadly bites for own confessors
Pain is the only law
Ancient awake in own crypts
Hidden in unknown dimensions
Doubt, cry and madness are reigning
Because weak minds are still blind
Thorn in every soul, without exception
Made the stinky abscess
And every "cure" continues endless agony
Pathologies are unwritten rules
Questions pumping poison to the minds
Nobody is able to see the end because he's the end
Although everything is already ended
Only silence left, everywhere
Interrupted by the silent mind on the desert
Bathed in scorching heat from hell
Gods are preparing for the rest
I danced all winter so summer came as a surprise
Terrible thing that I’ve done tracing your steps too long
I laughed all summer I laughed until I dropped my guard
Terrible things that I’ve said hating you all too much,
loving you all to much
Oh I wish I could be like you, so I asked you how and
then you said: no,
no you don’t want to be like me, so don’t try to be, I
hope you won’t turn in to me
It took October I think it took November too
Then all it took was a push and I turned into you
Try on your love like a new dress
The fit and the cut, your friends to impress
Try on your smile square on your face
Showing affection should be no disgrace
Try out your God, hope He will send
Kindness from strangers on whom you depend
Try on His coat, a mantle most fine
Myriad colors, His harmony-thine
'Believe in me', once seemed a good line
Now belief in Jesus is faith more sublime
Head in the clouds but I can't see the Lord
Short of perfection, I'll try to be good
I stand at His gate I wait for His sign
Then I walk in His garden when it's my time
Drink from His cup, hush now, don't you cry
His quiet waters will never, never run dry
Nearing death's vale, He's here by my side
He leads me to paradise a mountain so high
Don't be afraid, just treasure His word
Singing His praises, I know that I'll be heard
He's gonna take you by the hand, he's gonna make you feel so good
Open up your eyes and then you'll see all that you should, yeah
Forget all your troubles, you will feel no pain
He's all that you need, he's your everything, yeah
When I'm feeling all at sea, deliverance is that distant shore
I will not be worried, someday His house will be my home
For ever more, for ever more, for ever more
For ever more, for ever more, for ever more
Hey, for ever more, for ever more, for ever more
