Plot
This version of the Tolstoy classic lingers longer in Moscow during the weeks that follow the initial meeting of the starstruck lovers-to-be Vronsky and Anna Karenina. The story -- as it unfolds -- also focuses on Kitty, a young woman who is related to Anna's sister-in-law whose marital rift has brought Anna to Moscow. Until Anna shows up, Kitty had hopes of getting Vronsky, who is single and well connected, to propose to her. Ignored by Vronsky, Kitty turns her attention to another suitor, a man who seems to have a lot in common with Tolstoy.

Anna Karenina: You know, Dolly, men like Stiva aren't really conscious of deception at all. They put their wives and homes in one compartment... and these other women into another.
Stiva: Levin thinks we are parasitic idlers simply because we don't plow the fields.::Levin: An excellent statement of my position.
Vronsky: Our meetings are so brief, the dance also.::Anna Karenina: But our reunions are so frequent.::Vronsky: When I leave you, I'm lost in a world of strangers. When I touch your hand, we're alone.::Anna Karenina: [Smiling as she switches dance partners] I return you to the world!
Anna Karenina: I didn't know you were going back to St. Petersburg so soon. Why this change of plan?::Vronsky: Why? To be where you are. You know that. Forgive me, I... I had to say it.::Anna Karenina: You shouldn't. You shouldn't. You must forget that you said it.::Vronsky: Nothing of you. I shall never forget anything of you.
Vronsky: I love your frown when you concentrate.::Anna Karenina: [playing croquet] How do you expect me to make this shot if you talk to me?
Karenin: For some time, I have known that in uniting my life to yours, I have made a mistake. But this I must bear for the sake of my public duty... and for the sake of my child. I believe in marriage as a sacrament. I could not consider myself justified in breaking the ties by which we are bound by a higher power. The family cannot be broken up by a... whim or a caprice or even by the... by the sin of one of the partners in the marriage. Our life must go on as it has done in the past.::Anna Karenina: But it can't go on.::Karenin: It must. I have stated these views in public, and I will not violate them in private.::Anna Karenina: Then you will not give me a divorce?::Anna Karenina: Never. Why should I? To permit you to legalize a sin? To justify your conduct and his? Never.
Karenin: You will remain here as my wife... before the world. You will never see this... this *person* again.
Anna Karenina: You say this knowing this I cannot do. There is no life for me without my child. To leave him would be infamous and base. I couldn't. And you know I couldn't.::Karenin: Very well. I can assume, then, that you will never again jeopardize my honor.::Anna Karenina: Oh, your honor! Your selfishness! Your hypocrisy! Your egotism! You've never considered me as a human being. Your social position and... your reputation. These must be kept up at what cost to those who are around you? At what cost?::Karenin: [Checking his pocket watch] It's time for my appointment at the ministry.
Vronsky: One must never pardon an insult, but may freely give one.
Anna Karenina: I feel pain. I feel tears.::Vronsky: Why?::Anna Karenina: Because I'm so happy. Not to think, only to live, only to feel.
Alles was ich erstrebe
Ich will meinen Verstand zurück
Hast ihn inne, Stück für Stück
Du bist so unbegreiflich unerreichbar
Deine ganze Art so wunderbar
Du bist das schönste auf der Welt
Das man nicht kaufen kann
Nicht mit Geld
Alles was ich erstrebe
Alles wofür ich lebe
Bist du
Du bist diese eine Sache
Es ist egal was ich mache
Du bist weit weg nicht hier
Auf das mein Herz erfrier
Mein Herz ....... es erfriert
Es schreit im Gedanken an dich
Es schreit in Hoffnung auf dich
Es erfriert in ewiger Liebe zu dir
(Refrain 1)
(Refrain 2)
6 Jahre später wir traten uns näher
die Augen so klar
dein zärtliches Haar
alles nur Träume
und nichts ist real
im Weg stehen Bäume
im Herz steckt ein Pfahl
wie komm ich denn zu dir
wann sind wir ein Paar
ich nehme den Hörer
die Ängste sind nah
dann rufe ich an
und ein Engel geht dran
der mich vier stunden
zieht in den Bann
Niemals darfst du mich verlassen
Verboten ist es dich zu hassen
Ich gebe dir alles was ich habe
Liebe, Herz das ist keine Frage
Du bist so heiß
wie eine Flamme
dein Blick so scharf
wie eine Schlange
Tanzen tust du wie der Wind
Deine Schönheit
Macht jeden blind
Strahlen kannst du
wie die Sonne
hilfsbereit wie eine Nonne
ewig halte ich dein Herz
verlass dich nie mehr
das ist kein Scherz
Flüsternder Regen
Er kam wie ein Segen
Fällt ganz verwegen
Kann all das zerlegen
Was noch dagegen
Ihr steht hier vor uns
Wie ein Heer vor dem König
Bereit für die allerletzte Schlacht
Und dieser Augenblick
Stellt all das möglich
Was uns zu Helden macht
Wenn die letzten Töne erklingen
Den Moment verschlingen
Als gäbe es kein
Als gäbe es kein morgen
Wiedersehen beim nächsten mal
Wenn ihr uns wieder beglückt
Habt all das entzückt
Was uns bedrückt
Ganz freundlich verrückt
Ihr steht hier vor uns
Wie ein Heer vor dem König
Bereit für die allerletzte Schlacht
Und dieser Augenblick
Stellt all das möglich
Was uns zu Helden macht
Wenn die letzten Töne erklingen
Den Moment verschlingen
Als gäbe es kein
Als gäbe es kein morgen
Als gäbe es kein
Gäbe es kein
Als gäbe es kein
Morgen
Herzlich willkommen im Leben
Es kann dir so vieles geben
Deine Meinung zerlegen
Es gibt viel zu erleben
(und) dein Traum
schwebt (hier) leblos im Raum
man wächst und gedeiht
bis der Geist ist befreit
und der Glaube bereit
meinst du du bist jetzt soweit?
(und) Dein Traum
schwebt (hier) leblos im Raum
Leben ist Spaß
Leben ist Trauer
Kämpf dich durch
Vorbei an der Mauer
It isn't easy to be kind
with all these demons in my mind
I hope one day I'll be free
freedom that I already can see
but tell me: will I really be free?
I sit in front of heavens gate
and listen to my heart
how long will I be in this eternity
someone, please, rescue me
nobody hears me, when I'm crying
I loose my soul more and more
I think I fall all the time
I see the light in the this darkness
a tiny point in that hot, red sun
I sit in front of heavens gate
and listen to my heart
how long will I be in this eternity
someone, please, rescue me
nobody hears me, when I'm crying
It isn't easy to be kind
with all these demons in my mind
I hope one day I'll be free
freedom that i already can see
but tell me: will i really be free?
I sit in front of heavensgate
and listen to my heart
how long will I be in this eternity
someone, please, rescue me
nobody hears me, when i'm crying
I loose my soul more and more
I think I fall all the time
I see the light in the this darkness
a tiny point in that hot, red sun
I sit in front of heavensgate
and listen to my heart
how long will I be in this eternity
someone, please, rescue me
nobody hears me, when i'm crying
There's a crucial fight inside of me
a fight between good and evil, now
greed and envy overcome him
I think I loose my head
my faith, that saves and protects me
a part of me will die
tell me why should I cry
the other will lead
let's take a dive
into your new self
Angel's last breath
Tears fallen for him
Tears of love, Tears of Fear
Bury my dreams,
dig up my sorrows
Oh God why
Fall angels first?
Displeasure and pain fill his soul
the demon wins
all eyes on me
see who I really am
I'm not the man I should be
I can't scream
prisoner of my own
The angel is gone
let's take a dive
into your new self
Angel's last breath
Tears fallen for him
Tears of love, Tears of Fear
Bury my dreams,
dig up my sorrows
Oh God why
Fall angels first?
I'm sitting here in my room
all alone by myself
I'm still crying for you
where are you now?
last night I dreamed about you
we were happy, we were together
can't you see how much I love you?
but now you're gone
can't you see how much I miss you?
but now you're gone
I can't live another day without you
you're still in my heart
my heart of stone
I can't stop thinking of you
you're the one, who was everything for me
I can't live another day without you
Now I'm out of love
there's nothing left to live
you took in form me and left
and why? just because you won't risk a thing?
Don't tell me you didn't love me
Don't tell me that it just was fun for you
I still have feelings for you
but I'm running out of love
just give me one sign that you love me too,
love me too
Refrain
Do you really think I will love again?
After you, I don't think I will ever love again
the love you took from me
and the pain that you gave me
I want to die, want that it all have an end
can't you see how much you mend to me?
I'm sitting here and cry my last tears for you
there's nothing left for me to go on
Refrain
Vereisen unser ganzes Herr
Die Welt die wäre doch so viel bunter
Wenn es endlich Sommer wäre
Die ganze Wärme verschwindet
Alles verblüht, alles wird kahl
Die Sonne die mich so findet
Die ist jetzt weg die war einmal
Eines Tages hoffe ich aufzuhören
Zu schweigen, zu schlucken meine Wut
Nur wie kann man aufhören?
Sich selbst zu hassen?
Wie sie mich haben wollen
So will ich sein
So will ich sein
Fühle keine Hoffnung
Nur Verzweiflung
Schlage meine Schlachten
Ich
Mein vertrauter Feind
Eines Tages werde ich leben
Nur wie kann man aufstehen?
Wenn alles gebrochen
Was zu brechen ist?
Wie sie mich haben wollen
So will ich sein
So will ich sein
Fühle keine Hoffnung
Nur Verzweiflung
Schlage meine Schlachten
Ich
Mein vertrauter Feind
Fühle keine Hoffnung
Nur Verzweiflung
Schlage meine Schlachten
Ich
Mein vertrauter Feind
So wie sie mich haben wollen
Fühle keine Hoffnung
Nur Verzweiflung
Schlage meine Schlachten
Ich
Mein vertrauter Feind
alles was mich wach hällt
dir so vieles gegeben
dir so vieles gegeben
doch damit ist jetzt schluß
denn ich brauche dich nicht
ich liebe dich nicht
mein Leben ist wie ein Gefängnis
mit dem Namen Sophie
ich habe in meinem Leben
dir so vieles gegeben
doch damit ist jetzt schluß
denn ich brauche dich nicht
ich liebe dich nicht
mein Leben ist wie ein Gefängnis
mit dem Namen Sophie
kann nicht entfliehen
lass mich gehen
er kontrolliert mich
meine Gedanken
will mich nicht hingeben
er zerstört alles tief im innern
wofür ich stehe
wofür ich jemals stehen könnte
es ist beängstigend
wenn dich der Hass überkommt
dein Verstand blockiert
und du die Kontrolle verlierst
mein Verstand ist tot
meine Wut unersättlich
mein Körper am Boden
alles nur wegen ihm
wegen seiner verdammten Herrlichkeit
wodurch er in mich geht
lässt mich sterben, sich wachsen
es ist beängstigend
wenn ich dich in mir sehe
meinen Körper zerfrisst
und du die Kontrolle übernimmst
ich will sterben
um dich zu töten
ich will sterben
Refrain 1
Refrain 2
you left my live
like a shopping store
just walked through the door
don't wanted to talk anymore
without a view back
In my dreams
I can still see you
In my dreams
I can still feel you
In my dreams your still there
forever mine
what had happened?
you wanted to be
away from me
and I still don't get it why
you were gone forever
In my dreams
I can still see you
In my dreams
I can still feel you
In my dreams your still there
forever mine
In my dreams
I can still see you
In my dreams
I can still feel you
In my dreams your still there
forever mine
but it's just in my dreams
