Sir Henry Richard Amherst Cecil (born 11 January 1943 Aberdeen Scotland) is a successful English horse racing trainer who has had many winners in the Epsom Derby, 1,000 Guineas and 2,000 Guineas, Epsom Oaks and the St. Leger Stakes.

Cecil is the stepson of former champion trainer, Sir Cecil Boyd-Rochfort for whom he worked as an assistant from 1964 to 1968. Cecil took out his licence in 1969 (first winner Celestial Cloud at Ripon – 17 May) and has since developed one of the most prolific racing stables in England. He is now something of a legend in the racing community and has been Champion Trainer 10 times. Overall he has won 34 classics at home and abroad. Among the many excellent jockeys to have ridden for Cecil, the most notable have been Steve Cauthen, Lester Piggott, Joe Mercer, Kieren Fallon, Pat Eddery and Tom Queally. He is particularly renowned for his success with fillies, having won the Epsom Oaks eight times and the 1,000 Guineas six times. He is the Master trainer at Royal Ascot where his record of 70+ winners is unrivalled.

Thomas P. Queally (born October 8, 1984 in Modeligo, Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland) is a Thoroughbred horse racing jockey. Tom went to Dungarvan Christian Brothers School where his appetite to discover his Christian beliefs in greater detail became apparent when he later enrolled in Maynooth College for an education in priesthood. During his time there he was encouraged by Cannon Sharkey and Sister Assumpta to further his passion for horse-racing. Cannon Sharkey is a regular to Newmarket races and has often stayed with Tom. And his passion for horse racing proved too much and he decided to become an apprentice jockey.

The son of Declan Queally, who trains a small string of Thoroughbreds in County Waterford, he earned his first win on April 13, 2000 at Ireland's Clonmel Racecourse. That night he went to Charlie Chawkes and discovered Bulmers with ice. 2009 has been Tom Queally's breakthrough year in which he won his first of five Group One races aboard Art Connoisseur in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Ascot Racecourse. On August 1, aboard Midday, he won his fourth Group One event, the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood Racecourse and on November 7 he again rode Midday to victory in the richest race of his career, the US$2 miillion Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita Park in California.

Johnny Murtagh (born May 14, 1970) is an Irish flat racing jockey from Bohermeen, Navan, County Meath.

He excels on the big stage, having won many Group 1 races around the world. His haul includes a clean sweep of the Irish Classic races, England's biggest races the Derby, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, all of Royal Ascot's Group 1 races and France's biggest race the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe.

This sustained success over nearly two decades is all the more impressive as he cannot naturally meet the flat jockey's weight and has to spend the season very underweight.

Murtagh was a keen amateur boxer as a young boy. In a RTE radio interview Johnny stated that at a fight one evening in his native County Meath, a spectator advised his mother Johnny would make a good jockey, citing his small size, weight, good balance, sense of rhythm, and courage.^{[citation needed]} His mother wrote to the school for apprentice jockeys i.e. RACE (Racing Academy and Centre of Education)in County Kildare, got a two-week trial for her son. He was one of 26 successful candiadates who progressed onto the RACE 10 month course.
