Ijmāʿ (إجماع) is an Arabic term referring to the consensus of the Muslim community. Various schools of thought within Islamic jurisprudence may define this consensus as that of the first generation of Muslims only; the consensus of the first three generations of Muslims; the consensus of the jurists and scholars of the Muslim world, or scholarly consensus; or the consensus of all the Muslim world, both scholars and laymen.

The hadith of Muhammad which states that "My community will never agree upon an error"^{[citation needed]} is often cited as support for the validity of ijmā'. Sunni Muslims regard ijmā' as the third fundamental source of Sharia law, after the divine revelation of the Qur'an, the prophetic practice or Sunnah. While there is much differing over who is considered a part of this consensus, the majority view is split between two possibilities: that religiously binding consensus is the consensus of the entire Muslim community, or that religiously binding consensus is just the consensus of the religiously learned.

Syed Shah Turab-ul-Haq Qadri ( سید شاہ تراب الحق قادري ) is an Islamic scholar of the Barelvi school. Qadri was born in Hyderabad Deccan India (15 September 1944), and his family moved to Pakistan following the Partition of India. Shah Sahab has written more than fifteen books and numerous published articles.

His father was Syed Shah Husain Qadri (RA), who belongs to Syed family and his mother belongs to Farooqui family. He migrated to Pakistan in 1951. Shah Sahib Kibla was fond of wrestling during his days of school, he was selected Mr Karachi in the year 1961.^{[citation needed]} Shah sahib became mureed of Huzoor Sarkar Mufti Azam Hind, younger son of Sarkar Ala Hazrat by post in the 1962 and himself went to Bareli shareef in the year 1968. During his visit to Barali shareef he stayed at the place of his highness Huzoor Sarkar Mufti Azam Hind for 13 days. Shah Sahab inherited his position in the silsila of the Tariqah Sufi order from [[Azam Mustafa Raza Noori)].

Lutfur Rahman (Bengali: লুফুর রহমান) is a community activist and local politician in London, England. He became the first directly elected mayor of Tower Hamlets in 2010, having previously been the leader of Tower Hamlets London Borough Council from 2008 to 2010.

Lutfur Rahman was born in Bangladesh, and then moved to the United Kingdom at a young age. He grew up in Tower Hamlets and attended the Manor Primary School in Bow, the Lawdale Junior School in Bethnal Green and Bow School.

Rahman qualified as a solicitor and became a partner in a legal firm, specialising in family law.

Rahman has taken part in local civil society initiatives including Member and General Secretary (1987–89) of Progressive Youth Organisation, Spitalfields and Founding Member and first Treasurer (1990) of Keen Students Supplementary School (KSS). He was General Secretary of Community Alliance for Police Accountability (CAPA) and Chair of the Tower Hamlets Law Centre. Rahman has also been a Non-Executive Director of Barts and The London NHS Trust.
