In the second part of this short series of lectures on State & Religion, and the concept of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurist - which is the basis of the present ruling system in the Islamic Republic of Iran), his eminence Sheikh Mansour Leghaei answers some important and significant frequently asked questions on the subject: - Why can't we just put politics aside and focus on talking about religion? - During the current period of Imam Mahdi's absence, has Islam told us who should lead and rule the Muslim community or not? - How come only Imam Khomeini has spoken about Wilayat al-Faqih, and not other scholars of the past? - If we accept that a Muslim Jurist should lead a Muslim country, then why should only one Jurist be the leader? Why can't there be an assembly of jurists?
