Manipur /mænɨˈpʊər/ (Pronunciation manipur (help·info)), literally meaning "a jeweled land", is a state in northeastern India, with the city of Imphal as its capital. Manipur is bounded by the Indian states of Nagaland to the north, Mizoram to the south and Assam to the west; it also borders Burma to the east. It covers an area of 22,347 square kilometres (8,628 sq mi).
The Meiteis (Meeteis), who live primarily in the state's valley region, form the primary ethnic group (60% of the total population) but occupy only 10% of the total land area. Their language, Meiteilon (Meeteilon), (also known as Manipuri), is also the lingua franca in the state, and was recognized as one of the national languages of India in 1992. The Muslims (Meitei-Pangal) also live in the valley; the Kukis, Nagas, Paites and other smaller groups form about 40% of the population but occupy the remaining 90% of the total land area of Manipur State. Manipur is considered a sensitive border state.[citation needed]
Manipur state has taken Bengali script of writing but now-a-days started in their original scripts "Meetei/Meitei Mayek(Script)" at schools as well as in Newspapers.

Mangte Chungneijang Merykom, also known as MC Mary Kom or Mary Kom, (born 1 March 1983) is a boxer from Manipur, India. Mary Kom, a mother of two, is a five time successive World Boxing champion, a biennial amateur boxing competition organised by the International Boxing Association (AIBA). She is the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six World Championships. She came back from a two-year sabbatical to clinch her fourth successive World Amateur boxing gold in 2008, a feat that prompted the AIBA to describe her as 'Magnificent Mary'. She was earlier an athlete and switched to boxing after the success of fellow Manipur boxer Dingko Singh.
On Sep 18 2010, Mary Kom won the World Boxing Championship title in Bridgetown, Barbados for the fifth consecutive time. She defeated Romanian opponent Steluta Duta by a points difference of 16 to 6. In its successful mission to make women's boxing an Olympics programme, AIBA selected Mary as one of its three brand ambassadors in 2009. Mary, who always participated in light flyweight category, had to switch over flyweight as her usual weight category was not included in the 2012 Summer Olympics. She is the only Indian woman boxer who has qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, the quota she achieved in the 2012 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships after reaching to the quarter-final, where she lost to world number two Nicola Adams of England.
The Shadow is a collection of serialized dramas, originally in pulp magazines, then on 1930s radio and then in a wide variety of media, that follow the exploits of the title character, a crimefighting vigilante in the pulps, which carried over to the airwaves as a "wealthy, young man about town" with psychic powers. One of the most famous pulp heroes of the 20th century, The Shadow has been featured in comic books, comic strips, television, video games, and at least five motion pictures. The radio drama is well-remembered for those episodes voiced by Orson Welles.
Introduced as a mysterious radio narrator by David Chrisman, William Sweets and Harry Engman Charlot for Street and Smith Publications, The Shadow was fully developed and transformed into a pop culture icon by pulp writer Walter B. Gibson.
The Shadow debuted on July 31, 1930, as the mysterious narrator of the Street and Smith radio program Detective Story Hour. After gaining popularity among the show's listeners, the narrator became the star of The Shadow Magazine on April 1, 1931, a pulp series created and primarily written by the prolific Gibson.
If I was a friend of mine
I would surely be concerned
I'd recommend I take some time
Away from me
I think I need a holiday from myself
I need some time away from being me
I'm worried about my health
And I seem to be bad company
I need time
To be careless with my mouth
Not worry what I think about
'Cos it's all fine
I need the dawn
I never get to bed before
I don't sleep naked anymore
And I can't lie in
Imagine I could take a package deal
A SAGA tour of ancient Rhodes
A weekend break in Galashiels
Or circumnavigate the globe
I think I need
Two weeks in a caravan
To get away from who I am
And where I've been
So book me up
An all expenses pleasure cruise
Away from thinking about you
All the time
It's a bad sign
I need to kick back in the sun
I need to masquerade as someone else
I need to get myself some fun
Every night I lie awake
Waiting for the thunderstorm to break
The only sound that I can hear
Car alarms, static in my ears
I can't tell what's real
I'm far removed from everything I feel
I'm just waiting for the rain
I want it all to be simple once again
Sunlight on the wall
Comes to me
There's no need to talk at all
Sunlight on the wall
It is what it is
There's no need for arguement at all
I'm half asleep and half alive
Behind the blinds
It's getting light outside
The sun is leaking in
The freezer hums and the rush hour begins
I turn you over in my mind
But there's no solution I can find
Swirling in my brain
I want it all to be simple once again
Sunlight on the wall
Comes to me
There's no need to talk at all
Sunlight on the wall
It is what it is
Once I was born to be leaving
Once I was cruel to be kind
But lately I've been dreaming
Of things I left behind
Snap shirts with stains on the collars
Books full of words underlined
Black boots I bought for a dollar
Things I left behind
Don't try to change what the truth is
Traces remain in my mind
I hope you find some kind of use
for the things I left behind
Posters of bands I once sang with
LP's I scratched over time
Words that have dropped from my language
things I left behind
Don't try to change what the truth is
Traces remain in my mind
I hope you find some kind of use
For the things I left behind
So choose what you want to remember
And try not to be too unkind
My life still burns in the embers
Of the things I left behind
Don't try to change what the truth is
Traces remain in my mind
I hope you find some kind of use
For the things I left behind
I hope you find some kind of proof
I don't know why we can't talk
Every time we try we get choked up
Running with the feelings that gets caught in your head
'Til I can't remember what it was we said
All my friends say I'm in love
Is this what I think they're thinking of?
I don't know why we can't win
Every time we lose, we just pretend
Running out of money at the end of the month
None of it can buy the things I want
All my friends say I'm in love
Is this what I think they're thinking of?
Count my friends on my left hand
I don't need another who wouldn't understand
Take myself with thoughts of leaving
Running out of things left to believe in
Running out of money and time
Running out of money and time
You won't be mine
I don't know why we can't win
Every time we lose, we just pretend
Running out of money at the end of the month
None of it can buy the things I want
All my friends say I'm in love
Is this what I think they're thinking of?
Count my friends on my left hand
I don't need another who wouldn't understand
All my friends say I'm in love
Is this what I think they're thinking of?
All my friends say I'm in love
Her traveler’s books
Are gathering dust on the shelf
Will somebody else read them now?
She doesn't need telling
She's studied the lie of the land
With no slight of hand
She shuffles her memory cards
'Til one of them falls into place
She hands me her door key
As if she were playing an ace
Clubs, diamonds, and spades
Now I can breathe easy
I breathe easy
I breathe easy
Since she left me
Time waves goodbye
She sends funny letters
Peppered with lines that she stole
She'd plagiarize whole paragraphs
Of no fixed abode
RSVP don't answer back
She's almost a stranger
A bird that took flight long ago
But I wait by the phone for her call
A change in the season
Precipitates no change at all
Spring, Summer, and Fall
I wish I could breathe easy
I breathe easy
I breathe easy
Since she left me
Time waves goodbye
I need somebody
To fill up my cup to the brim
I'm faltering in midstream
Show me the water
That washes my memory clean
I want to breathe easy
I breathe easy
I breathe easy
Since she left me
Time waves goodbye
