Richard Whalley Anthony Curtis, CBE (born 8 November 1956) is a New Zealand-born British screenwriter, music producer, actor and film director, known primarily for romantic comedy films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones's Diary, Notting Hill, Love Actually and The Girl in the Café, as well as the hit sitcoms Blackadder, Mr. Bean and The Vicar of Dibley. He is also the founder of the British charity Comic Relief.
Curtis was born in Wellington, New Zealand, the son of Glyness S. and Anthony J. Curtis, who was an executive at Unilever. Curtis and his family lived in several different countries during his childhood, including Sweden and the Philippines. Part of the family still lives in Sydney. Curtis has lived in England since he was 11. He began school at Papplewick School, Ascot (as did his younger brother Jamie). For a short period in the 1970s Curtis lived in Warrington, where he attended Appleton Grammar School, before he won a scholarship to the prestigious Harrow School in London. He achieved a first-class degree in English Language and Literature at Christ Church, Oxford, and it was at Oxford that he met, and began working with, Rowan Atkinson.
Robin Driscoll is a British actor and writer, best known as a writer of Mr. Bean. He and Rowan Atkinson are close friends; he appeared with Rowan Atkinson in Laughing Matters (1992) - Visual Comedy, a documentary on the mechanics of visual humour.
As an actor, he has appeared in episodes of television shows such as Only Fools and Horses ("The Jolly Boys' Outing"), Murder Most Horrid, Dear John and The Fast Show.
Mr. Bean is a British comedy television programme series of 14 half-hour episodes written by and starring Rowan Atkinson as the title character. Different episodes were also written by Robin Driscoll, Richard Curtis and one by Ben Elton. The pilot episode was broadcast on ITV on 1 January 1990, with the last television episode, "Goodnight Mr. Bean" broadcast on 31 October 1995. The final episode, "Hair by Mr. Bean of London", was a video exclusive released on 15 November 1995, but not broadcast in the UK until 2006.
Based on a character originally developed by Atkinson while he was studying for his master's degree at Oxford University, the series follows the exploits of Mr. Bean, described by Atkinson as "a child in a grown man's body", in solving various problems presented by everyday tasks and often causing disruption in the process. Bean rarely speaks, and the largely physical humour of the series is derived from his interactions with other people and his unusual solutions to situations. The series was influenced by physical performers such as Jacques Tati and comic actors from silent films.
Rowan Sebastian Atkinson (born 6 January 1955) is a British actor, comedian, and screenwriter. He is most famous for his work on the satirical sketch comedy show Not The Nine O'Clock News, and the sitcoms Blackadder, Mr. Bean and The Thin Blue Line. He has been listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest actors in British comedy, and amongst the top 50 comedians ever in a 2005 poll of fellow comedians. He has also had cinematic success with his performances in the Mr. Bean movie adaptations Bean and Mr. Bean's Holiday and in Johnny English and its sequel Johnny English Reborn. He also starred in the film Never Say Never Again (a spy film based on the James Bond novel Thunderball) in 1983.
Atkinson, the youngest of four brothers, was born in Consett, County Durham, England. His parents were Eric Atkinson, a farmer and company director, and Ella May (née Bainbridge), who married on 29 June 1945. His three older brothers were Paul, who died as an infant, Rodney, a Eurosceptic economist who narrowly lost the United Kingdom Independence Party leadership election in 2000, and Rupert. Atkinson was brought up Anglican, and was educated at Durham Choristers School, St. Bees School, and Newcastle University. In 1975, he continued for the degree of MSc in Electrical Engineering at The Queen's College, Oxford, the same college his father matriculated at in 1935, which made Atkinson an Honorary Fellow in 2006. First achieving notice at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1976, while at Oxford, he also acted and performed early sketches for the Oxford University Dramatic Society (OUDS), the Oxford Revue and the Experimental Theatre Club (ETC), meeting writer Richard Curtis and composer Howard Goodall, with whom he would continue to collaborate during his career.
This is an episode guide for the television series Mr. Bean, starring Rowan Atkinson, which ran between 1 January 1990 and 15 November 1995.
The Best Bits of Mr. Bean is a feature length episode released on VHS in December 1995, which includes clips from various episodes in the series and new especially recorded footage.
Mr. Bean and Teddy go into the loft in search of an umbrella. Whilst looking, Bean uncovers a piece of paper with a smile showing teeth and 9.00 written under it, from the episode "The Trouble With Mr. Bean". After a flashback of his ordeal with Mr. Peggitt, Bean opens a basket, takes out a saxophone and pretends to play a tune, remembering the time he helped a busker in "The Return of Mr. Bean". Bean then takes out two baubles and remembers his frolic with the turkey in "Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean".
After the Christmas flashback, Bean tries to introduce Teddy to "Mr. Spider", a rubber figure on a fake web in the loft. However, Bean ends up accidentally throwing Teddy through the hatch and out of the loft. As Bean retrieves it, he has a flashback of his fear of the swimming pool's high diving board and subsequent escape from the car park in "The Curse of Mr. Bean". Mr. Bean then brings Teddy back into the loft using a vacuum cleaner and closes the hatch. After remembering packing for his holiday in "Mr. Bean Rides Again", Bean looks at the window and sees that it's still raining, and as he turns around, he nearly trips over a brush and a mop tied together. He examines them, and remembers using them to drive his Mini in a bizarre way in "Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean".
Oh, Mr. Pine doesn't wait till after nine
There's not a friend he's had to buy
Keeps his head above the sky
Ain't got much, and he don't ask why
Oh, Mr. Pine spends his summers drinking wine
Has a friend called Gypsy Joe
Wears an earring through his nose
Takes it everywhere he goesMaybe I don't want to know
Maybe I don't want to go
Where the sun shines up the mountain
Drinking wine
I won't wait till after nine
Oh, Mr. Pine doesn't wait till after nine
Doesn't pass the time the day
In the graveyard with his yesterday
Looks at it once, and he didn't stay
Lights out all night
I've been lying there
Shiverin' and shakin'
Heart full of fear
Everything's gettin' much too clear
Life's a bitch
I just let you too near
On and on this beat is gettin' much too strong
Higher and higher the flames burnin' higher
I took the self-destruction desire
P-A-I-N MR. PAIN
Takes you like a hot summer rain
I'm seein' snakes
And feelin' stone dead
Spiders and roaches dancin' in my head
All fucked-up in the hospital bed
Fire queen nursie
Paint the town red
On and on...
[Chorus]
I need a fix 'n' a kiss
Can't get worse than this
Everybody's so slow
I'm goin' much too fast
[Chorus]
Met my first love down in Texas
In a club in San Anton'
Both of us were lonely
Had no one to call our own
So we danced and laughed 'til closin' time
And had no place to go
So with the top pulled down we drove all night
Ran off to Mexico
But my blond-haired, blue-eyed cowboy
Turned out to be bad news
Disappeared one morning
Left his old boots and the blues
Now there's been so many others
But none of them were true
The only one I could count on to keep me
Company is you
Mr. Pain-- oh, it's you again
Never really wanted us to be such friends
You always seem to show up
When I'm all alone
That's when you move right in
And make yourself at home
Mr. Pain, oh, Mr. Pain
Well, you'd think by now that I'd have learned
To see through your disguise
A heartache really shouldn't be
So hard to recognize
But you wear so many faces
Every line is new
And somehow I just always end up
Wakin' up with you
Mr. Pain-- oh, it's you again
Never really wanted us to be such friends
Never fail to find me when I'm all alone
That's when you move right in
And make yourself at home
Mr. Pain, oh, Mr.Pain
Met my first love down in Texas
In a club in San Anton'

Had no one to call our own

And had no place to go

Mr. Pain-- Oh, it's you agian
Never really wanted us to be such friends

That's when you move right in

Mr. Pain , Oh, Mr. Pain
We'll you'd think by now that I'd have learned

A heartache really shouldn't be
So hard to recoginze

Mr Pain-- Oh, it's you again
Never really wanted us to be such friends
Never fail to find when I'm all alone
That's when you move right in
An icicle feast for my watery eyes;
lacing, swirling and floating.
An ice castle for us to live in, come on,
we're holding hands under our palace of snow.
Soft hushed breath it goes in and out, in and out
Frost tracing the window pane up and down, up and down.
Pale blue frosted cakes for us to feed on,
bright eyes always shining always glowing.
Icicles hanging from our fingertips.
Soft hushed breath it goes in and out, in and out
Frost tracing the window pane up and down, up and down
Follow the crystal air to the snowflake village
where people made of gumdrops greet you;
