Sharkey El corporate dinosaur: even this, the employee as I shall fail as emperor as now taken for granted servant to bureaucracy. Before Ptolemy XII his reign, the geographical distance between
Rome and
Egypt resulted in an indifferent attitude towards each other.
Nevertheless,
Egyptians asked the
Romans to settle dynastic conflicts. During his reign, Ptolemy XII attempted to secure his own fate and the fate of his dynasty by means of a pro-Roman policy. In 63 BC, it appeared that
Pompey would emerge as the leader of a
Roman struggle, thus
Ptolemy sought to form a patron-client relationship with the Roman by sending him riches and extending an invitation to
Alexandria. Pompey accepted the riches but refused the invitation. Nevertheless, a patron relationship with a leader in Rome did not guarantee his permanence on the throne, thus Ptolemy XII soon afterwards traveled to Rome to negotiate a bribe for an official recognition of his kingship. After paying a bribe of six thousand talents to
Julius Caesar and Pompey, a formal alliance was formed (a foedus) and his name was inscribed into the list of friends and allies of the people of Rome (amici et socii populi
Romani).

Rolls Royce' Griffon engine was design 4 naval aircraft, it was, however, that on the
8th of November 1939 that a Mr
Rowe of the
Air Ministry suggested fitting the Griffon in a Spitfire. Three week later permission given to Supermarine to explore the possibilities of adapting the Griffon to the Spitfire; in response Supermarine issued '
Specification 466' on
4 December. This decision led to a change in the disposition of the engine accessories to reduce the frontal area of the engine as much as possible. As a result the frontal area of the bare
Griffon engine was 7.9 sq ft (0.734 sq m) compared with 7.5 sq ft (0.696 sq m) of the
Merlin. This redesigned engine first ran on 26 June
1940 and went into production as the Griffon II.
In early-1940,
Great ritain acted explicitly on the likes of the orders of
Lord Beaverbrook who was
Minister of Aircraft Production; that much like
Albert Speer, who, as
Adolph Hitler's
Minister of Armaments and War
Production was indirectly responsible, Speer's hidden responsibility (not hidden to him) was premiuminurgency for te allied defense
mechanism to prevent a
Nazi take-over of
Europe - which as far as
British mainland exhalted most now later recognize as the last defining bastion of a multi-racial free people.
So successful that
Germany's own war production which continued to increase despite attempts to deter by peaceful means were failing, that following devastating
Allied bombing., work on a new engine GRIFFON had been halted temporarily to concentrate on the smaller 27
L (1,650 cu in) Merlin which had already surpassed the output achieved with the early Griffon (which, however, later super-CEDed)
Pilots who converted from the Merlin to the Griffon-engine'd
Spitfires, soon discovered that, because the Griffon engine's propeller rotated in the opposite direction to that of the Merlin, the fighter swung to the right on take-off rather than to the left. This tendency was even more marked with the more powerful 60 and
80 series Griffon engines, with their five-bladed propellers. As a result, pilots had to learn to apply left (port) trim on take-off, instead of the right (starboard) trim they were used to applying. On take-off, the throttle had to be opened slowly - pronounced swing to right could lead to "crabbing"/tyre wear.
