Sam McMillan (born 2 July 1983) is an Australian musical comedian and writer who performs under the stage name Sammy J. He embraces a variety of media in his comedy, including the use of video and self-composed music. He has released three CD compilations of his comic songs, "The Burden of Popularity", "Sammy J - Live?" and "Sticky Digits", with his latest one "Skinny Man, Modern World" bringing it to 4. He has performed at comedy festivals in Australia and Britain and has appeared on various Australian television shows.
He currently performs with Heath McIvor (aka Randy, a purple puppet) as the duo Sammy J & Randy.
McMillan studied law at the University of Melbourne for two and a half years, where he also directed and appeared in the Melbourne Law Comedy Revue. He says he was more interested in writing jokes than studying, and halfway through the course decided to drop out. He subsequently completed a media degree and began to pursue a full-time comedy career.
He performs under the stage name Sammy J, a condensation of his full name, Samuel Jonathan McMillan. According to McMillan, his stage name originated as a high school nickname which he says he gave to himself "when I was trying to manufacture a bit of popularity... My family and friends were reluctant to adopt it but I pushed and pushed, using it at every opportunity, and eventually started using it on stage."
Samuel Peralta "Sammy" Sosa (born November 12, 1968) is a Dominican former professional baseball right fielder. Sosa played with four Major League Baseball teams over his career which spanned from 1989-2007.
Sosa's Major League career began with the Texas Rangers in 1989. After three seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Sosa became a member of the Chicago Cubs in 1992 and subsequently became one of the league's best hitters. In 1998, Sosa and Mark McGwire achieved national fame for their home run-hitting prowess in pursuit of Roger Maris' home run record. Sosa finished his career with brief stints with the Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers. With the Rangers, Sosa hit his 600th career home run to become the fifth player in MLB history to reach the milestone. He is also the all-time home run leader among foreign-born MLB players. Furthermore, Sosa is one of only two National League Players to ever reach 160 RBI in a season, a milestone he reached in 2001. The other was Cubs player and RBI Champion Hack Wilson during his record setting 1930 season in which he recorded 191 RBI. Sosa is the only player to have hit 60 or more home runs in a single season three times.
Ramses Shaffy (29 August 1933 – 1 December 2009) was a Dutch singer and actor. He became popular during the 1960s. His most famous songs include Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, werk en bewonder ("Sing, fight, cry, pray, laugh, work and admire"), We zullen doorgaan ("We will go on"), Pastorale, Sammy and Laat me ("Leave me be"). He frequently collaborated with Dutch chansonnière Liesbeth List.
Shaffy was born in Paris, in the suburb Neuilly-sur-Seine. His father was an Egyptian diplomat and his mother was a Polish-Russian countess. He grew up with his mother in Cannes. When she was infected with tuberculosis, Shaffy was sent to an aunt in Utrecht. Eventually, he ended up in a foster family in Leiden.
He did not finish high school, but he was accepted at the Amsterdam school of theatre arts in 1952. In 1955, he made his debut with the Nederlandse Comedie. He went to Rome in 1960 aspiring to be a film actor and was unsuccessful in the endeavor. In the 1960s, Shaffy had a homosexual relationship with Dutch actor Joop Admiraal (1937–2006). In 1964 he founded Shaffy Chantant, a theatre group, which led to his first collaborations with Liesbeth List. He worked with Dutch pianist Louis van Dijk. Among others, Thijs van Leer was a member of the group for a short period of time. With Liesbeth List, Shaffy recorded the classic song Pastorale. His hit song, Wij zullen doorgaan, was parodied by comedian André van Duin in 1975. He temporarily stopped his habit of heavy drinking when he became a member of the Rajneesh movement in the early 1980s.
he was a boy - he was a fine child
He had the leather boots
and the riding crop
in Jerusalem
Oh Sammy
My hap flap slappy clam ma'am
We've come
To take you home
But Sammy where are you
Sammy where are you
They said - said you're a star who
recognized to the other side
Oh Sammy could you be my bride
Whats that
What's to be with you
Have to kiss
Those who would kill you
Have to try for the other side
Oh... can you live my life
Sammy where are you
Where were you going to
What were you going through
Satanic Black Jew
coo coo cahchoo
Waffle bucket brigade
consorting with the queen of the dead
Billy Boy
Timmy Toy
Jimmy Joy
Joe
oh sammy
My slap hap pappy Ma'am
we've come to take you home
Kneeling at the altar
Rolling like a log
Drinking with the Rat Pack
Barking like a dog
We've come to admire you
Not even Frank could fire you
Oh Sam
we've come to take you home
With your shining teeth of gold
And your soul you said you sold
We've come to take you there
With your shining teeth of gold
And your soul they said you sold
you said you sold you said they sold
for rock and roll
whoa yeah
With your shining teeth of gold
And your soul you said you sold
into my little pocket
We put it all away
save you up for another day
I've come to buff your slab
I know it makes you mad
Tiny little mice nibbling on your gonads
Tiny belly button is an inny and an outty
And a shouty shout at home
Stay with me
Why don't you try to be my friend?
Why don't you try a little harder?
Open your arms, open your legs
Won't you try, try to open your mind
Baby, don't you open it up too far
Or your brains will fall out on the sidewalk
That we've walked together
I know what you're thinking about
And I understand, try
Okay now, seems that it's happened again
Don't let it smack you down the hallway
Like your husband did last night
Don't you cry, cry, cry little girl
But baby, let the freezing teardrop fall
Open your eyes and lie awake
Close your eyes and lie awake
Baby, I know what you're thinking about
And I understand
If you try to be your man, if you try
You maybe lost your mind
And you cry, cry
As if your fate were mine
Won't you stay with me?
Will you try to be my friend?
Open your arms, open your legs
Open your mind, open your mind
Baby, I know what you're thinking about
I understand
If you try to be your man
