My Daily Bicycle Commute - Toronto - February 2014

This is a video showing my morning bike commute from my apartment in the Yonge and Eglinton area, to my workplace which is in the Yonge and Sheppard Area. I ride this route to and from work every day, even in the winter! This was filmed on February 5th, 2014, which was one of our snowiest days this winter. The snow started coming down around midnight the evening before, and it continued to snow until the mid-afternoon. The morning ride was fairly challenging as you can see from the video, however the ride home was significantly more challenging! The bike I am riding in this video is a steel framed mountain bike from the late 1990's. It has 26 inch wheels with studded winter tires. The filmed this using a Contour Roam 2 camera mounted on my headtube. I recorded the audio with a Panasonic voice recorder. I tracked the speed using my Garmin eTrex 30 GPS, and wrote a basic program in Turing to display the numbers on the screen. Investigating the Toronto Ice Storm Damage by Bicycle - December 22nd, 2013

This video is a series of clips from my bike ride through the severely damaged streets of Toronto during the great ice storm of December 2013. I found that my studded winter tires got amazing traction on the icy roads! I apologize for the poor video image quality in the first 6 minutes of the video. Unfortunately I had the lense of my camera tilted by 90 degrees, so there was quite a bit of lost quality because I had to crop about 3/4 of the video dimensions to make it fit on the screen. As you can see, the area north of Eglinton got hit really hard, and many homes were without power for an extended period of time. I hope you enjoyed this video. Thanks for watching.

Here is a video showing my adventures on a Snowy Sunday afternoon in Toronto. First I show my view of the city from the roof of my building, then I take bike studded tire snow bike for an adventure through the streets. As an encore I take my newly purchased flying saucer snow sled for a ride down a snowy slope. It was a fun adventure for sure! Since many of my YouTube viewers live in warmer climates that do not often see snow, I enjoy making videos like this to share the winter fun across the world. I hope you enjoyed this video. My Journey to Ottawa - March 2014

This video shows my journey to Ottawa on March 1, 2014. I took the 6:30am Greyhound bus from Toronto, and arrived around 12:30pm. The bus ride was very relaxing, the seats were comfortable with lots of legroom, and the power outlets and wifi made the time go by very quickly. The downtown Ottawa bus terminal is located within a short walking distance of everything within the central downtown core. I was able to easily walk from there to my hotel in about 15 minutes. I definitely would not hesitate to use Greyhound again for a future trip to Ottawa. The hotel where I stayed is called the Business Inn. This was my third time staying there and I've always had great experience with them. If you get the chance, I strongly recommend visiting Ottawa during the winter to skate on the Rideau Canal. I realize that this video is not suited for everyone, since it is so long. However, I'm hoping that there are people from around the world who bicycle in other countries who will be interested to watch. I have added in a digital speedometer and heart rate monitor, and included voice commentary to help keep the video interesting. Toronto is not a particularly bike friendly city, so finding a safe route can be difficult. In this video I used my new Contour Roam 2 camera to shoot the action footage. I recorded the audio with my Panasonic voice recorder. I tracked the speed and heart rate using my Garmin eTrex 30 GPS, and wrote a basic program in Turing to refresh the numbers on the screen for displaying it.
