In modern clothing and fashion design, a button is a small fastener, most commonly made of plastic, but also frequently of seashell, which secures two pieces of fabric together. In archaeology, a button can be a significant artifact. In the applied arts and in craft, a button can be an example of folk art, studio craft, or even a miniature work of art.
Buttons are most often attached to articles of clothing but can also be used on containers such as wallets and bags. However, buttons may be sewn onto garments and similar items exclusively for purposes of ornamentation. Buttons serving as fasteners work by slipping through a fabric or thread loop, or by sliding through a buttonhole.
Some museums and art galleries hold culturally, historically, politically, and/or artistically significant buttons in their collections. The Victoria & Albert Museum has many buttons, particularly in its jewellery collection, as does the Smithsonian Institution.
Hammond Turner & Sons, a button-making company in Birmingham, hosts an online museum with an image gallery and historical button-related articles, including an 1852 article on button-making by Charles Dickens. In the USA, large button collections are on public display at The Waterbury Button Museum of Waterbury, Connecticut, the Keep Homestead Museum of Monson, Massachusetts, which also hosts an extensive online button archive and in Gurnee, Illinois at The Button Room.

Jenson Alexander Lyons Button MBE (born 19 January 1980) is a British Formula One driver currently signed to McLaren. He was the 2009 World Drivers' Champion for Brawn GP.
Button began karting at the age of eight and achieved early success, before progressing to car racing in the British Formula Ford Championship and the British Formula Three Championship. He first drove in Formula One with the Williams team for the 2000 season. The following year he switched to Benetton, which in 2002 became Renault, and then for the 2003 season he moved to BAR. They were subsequently renamed Honda for the 2006 season, during which Button won his first Grand Prix in Hungary, after 113 races.
Following the withdrawal of Honda from the sport in December 2008, he was left without a drive for the 2009 season, until Ross Brawn led a management buyout of the team in February 2009, and Button suddenly found himself in a highly competitive, Mercedes-engined car. He went on to win a record-equalling six of the first seven races of the 2009 season, securing the World Drivers' Championship at the Brazilian Grand Prix, having led on points all season; his success also helped Brawn GP to secure the World Constructors' Championship. For 2010, he moved to McLaren, partnering fellow British racer and former World Champion Lewis Hamilton. After finishing fifth for the team in 2010, Button finished the 2011 season as runner-up.

Sue Barlow: I don't have the answers, Charley. But I know that people get confused in this life about what they want, and what they've done, and what they think they should've because of it. Everything they think they are or did, takes hold so hard that it won't let them see what they can be.
Boss Spearman: We'll let the brains of the outfit do the thinking. Sue?
Charley Waite: Men are gonna get killed here today, Sue, and I'm gonna kill 'em.
Boss Spearman: We got a warrant sworn for attempted murder for them that tried to kill the boy who's laying over there at the Doc's, trying to stay alive. Swore out another one for them that murdered the big fella you had in your cell. Only ours ain't writ by no tin star, bought and paid for, Marshal. It's writ by us, and we aim to enforce it.
Boss Spearman: Man's got a right to protect his property and his life, and we ain't lettin' no rancher or his lawman take either.
Charley: You the one killed our friend?::Butler: That's right. I shot the boy, too. And I enjoyed it.::[Charley pulls out his gun and shoots Butler]
[Charley has explained his strategy for the upcoming fight]::Boss Spearman: Sounds like you got it all worked out.::Charley Waite: Yeah, except the part where we don't get killed.
[Charley Waite kicks Button off his horse. He falls into the river]::Button: What you do that for?::Charley Waite: Cheatin' at cards.::Button: I apologized to you for that.::[to Boss Spearman]::Button: Eh, Boss? I apologized to him for that.::Boss Spearman: Evidently he ain't over it yet.
Charley Waite: You ever seen one this bad?::Boss Spearman: Not since Noah and the Flood.::Mose: Well, you should know, Boss, since you was there.::Boss Spearman: What'd you say?::Button: He said, "You should know since you was there."
Boss Spearman: My friend and me got a hankerin' for Switzerland chocolate and a good smoke.

A hero in the K-9 Corps!
Enemy, enemy
I've got jokes I can share with you
and Domino's on parole
We'll be right back to chinga tu madre [Spanish for "fuck your mother"]
You've got something else coming here if you let it go
This is what it looks like
When no one push your buttons
This is what it looks like
When no one pushes your buttons
I realize the time we had up in there
But take that shit outside 'cause
It's not like this stuff's automatic, on the drill, approved for a loan
You sit down and make dinner and he lets you go
This is what it looks like
When no one push your buttons
No one push your buttons
This is what it looks like
When no one pushes your buttons
No one push your buttons
Nader surely always had it figured out
He was gonna lead us all the way
Now inside Florida things are well
Everybody knows that everybody knows
There's nothing poetic one can say
No negatives are allowed in here
Not with the winters of the lowly lows
Stud
No one push your buttons
This is what it looks like
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Your hands are warm but your heart's as cold as ice
And I wanna love you but you just want to lie
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Sunday morning, I'm all dressed up
My velvet shoes on and my coffee cup
We walk along through the snow and the muck
As you mind starts to wonder about the way it was
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Your hands are warm but your heart's as cold as ice
And I wanna love you but you just want to lie
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Records playing our favorite tune
I lean over towards you as you howl at the moon
Tell me darling am I speaking too soon
Why do you always cry instead of telling the truth
Hoo Hoo Tell me the truth
Hoo Hoo Tell me the truth
Hoo Hoo Tell me the truth
'cause crocodile tears is all I'm getting from you
Hoo Hoo tell me the truth
Crocodile tears is all I'm getting from you
Crocodile tears is all I'm getting from you
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Your hands are warm but your heart's as cold as ice
And I wanna love you but you just want to lie
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Your hands are warm but your heart's as cold as ice
And I wanna love you but you just want to lie
Oh you've got a button that'll make you cry
Oh you've got a button that will make you cry
