In high school, Schmidt ('Jonah Hill' (qv)) was a dork and Jenko ('Channing Tatum' (qv)) was the popular jock. After graduation, both of them joined the police force and ended up as partners riding bicycles in the city park. A Spanish man, identified by local reports as a former police chief who now keeps himself busy attending the odd neo-Nazi rally, was viciously mauled by three lions after jumping into their enclosure at the Barcelona Zoo on Sunday, according to a report by the Daily Mail. Dressed in army fatigues, Justo Jose hopped over a fence and made his way into the lion's den. Things had apparently not been going too well for the former head of the police force of the municipality of Gelida outside Barcelona, who was on extended leave after divorcing his wife, losing custody of his kid and losing his mother. Attempted suicide likely explains why the 45-year-old by all accounts willingly made his way into the pit and ended up getting bitten, tossed and chewed by the beasts for some 30 minutes. Please subscribe us Metro Police Chief Steve Anderson lauded Ferguson protesters Wednesday and defended a decision to let them briefly shut down Nashville's Interstate 24 twice Tuesday night. "We could have moved in and made arrests, but to do that you have to do that one by one in a very careful manner," the chief told reporters Wednesday morning. "We would have been there two to three hours.” The chief said he "approved all decisions" concerning the protesters as they made their way around Nashville streets Tuesday. He indicated his officers were in constant communication with the protesters, but did not know of the plans to block I-24 in both directions near the Shelby Street Bridge. "I think they took a reasonable amount of time to make their statement, but I know people were inconvenienced," he added. "Last night's event went very well and I hope that all of Nashville is proud of not only the law enforcement response, but the response of the citizens involved and that we have set an example for the nation." His words were echoed by Nashville Mayor Karl Dean who said he was getting updates Tuesday night from Metro police, but was not involved in the decision-making. "Police did a great job in how they responded, and I want to give a lot of credit to the clergy who really stepped up in a leadership role," Dean told News 2. "Folks who were involved were peaceful without any incident and I am grateful for that." The mayor, Chief Anderson, District Attorney Glenn Funk and various other city leaders have been meeting regularly with Nashville's African-American clergy about several issues, but they talked at length Monday prior to the decision where a grand jury declined to prosecute a white Ferguson, Missouri, police officer in the shooting death of unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown. One of those protesters on I-24 Tuesday night was Vanderbilt Divinity student Teresa Pecinovsky. "When we unite in solidarity and intersectionality, change can happen," she told News 2. Pecinovsky said there are plans for more local vigils after Monday's grand jury decision. She and other protesters have been saying there other similar cases. "We wanted to bring the public's attention to the fact that life that cannot go on as normal because all these slain bodies are crying out for justice and we have to do something about it," Pecinovsky said. Her protest does not stop in Nashville. The streets of Ferguson will be where she will spend Thanksgiving, her seventh trip there since the shooting of Michael Brown. "I am going to be helping with the churches that have been set up as sanctuaries to provide care for the protesters and the front line people," she said just hours before heading to the troubled St. Louis suburb.

Video Shows Police Shoot Boy Who Had Fake Gun The family of a Cleveland boy shot dead by police request that video of his encounter with officers be released.Cleveland police have released audio and CCTV footage from the moment an officer shot dead a 12-year-old boy carrying a replica handgun. Tamir Rice died on 23 November, a day after he was shot by police responding to 911 calls about someone with a gun at a Cleveland playground. Surveillance cameras from a nearby recreation centre captured footage of Tamir walking around the park and brandishing what turned out to be an airsoft gun that fired plastic pellets. The footage shows a police cruiser pulling up next to Tamir, and within seconds of the officers exiting the vehicle one of them opens fire on the boy. Cleveland Police Deputy Chief Ed Tomba said the officers ordered the boy to put his hands up three times. Video: Fatal Cleveland Shooting 911 Call Tamir pulled up his shirt with one hand and reached for his waistband with the other before the officer fired, the deputy chief said. "Shots fired. Male down. Black male, maybe 20," an officer can be heard saying over police dispatch. The footage was released at the request of the boy's parents. Deputy Chief Tomba said it was not meant to "exonerate" or condemn anyone. "This is an obvious tragic event where a young member of our community lost their life," he said. Video: Boy Shot By Police Had Fake Gun "We've got two officers that were out there protecting the public that just had to, you know, do something that nobody wants to do." Both officers, identified as 26-year-old Timothy Loehman and 46-year-old Frank Garmback, remain on administrative leave. Deputy Chief Tomba said the investigation into the shooting was ongoing and all evidence will be handed over to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. Daniel Michael Margolis, a local criminal lawyer, told : "Whether the gun was real or not is immaterial. The officers have to assume it’s real, especially because it looks real." The shooting has led to calls for legislation that would require all replica guns, including airsoft or BB guns, to be brightly coloured.

In November 2013, the Oregon City Police Department lost an officer in the line of duty. That hadn’t happened in more than 100 years. As the new police chief in the small Oregon community, Jim Brand recognized the need to help the department cope with the loss of Reserve Officer Robert Libke, who was fatally shot after responding to reports of an armed man near a house on fire. In a rare quiet moment during a stressful day, Brand sat down at his desk and could feel weights dropping in the gym, so he wandered over to observe. What he saw was therapy in action. “I see all these faces who had just been carrying the weight of the world for the last couple days. … They had just finished some WOD, and I could just see their faces … they were so much better,” Brand says. The chief tells Greg Amundson, CrossFit’s Law Enforcement Liaison, all the money, time and effort put into CrossFit 1850 was worth it after seeing its effects on members who were dealing with the devastating loss of a colleague. The affiliate has been active since 2011, and it was created because “the ability for our employees to combat the overwhelming stresses of police work through exercise is paramount,” according to a 2012 press release. Now, Brand coaches several classes filled with police officers, lawyers and others who work for and with the police department. “In the law-enforcement world, we deal with a lot of very stressful things,” says member Colleen Gilmartin. “My work is all child abuse, and coming in here and being able to get that all out and in a very friendly and competitive … environment is wonderful.” Video by Ian Wittenber. 911 Call Before 12 Year Tamir Rice Was Killed By Police

Cleveland Police stated on Tuesday that they would likely release the names of the officers involved in the shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice some time this afternoon. City leaders, along with Mayor Frank Jackson and Police Chief Calvin Williams, will be holding a community meeting at the Cudell Recreation Center from 6pm to 8pm. They will not only provide information, but will also take questions from those in attendance. Rice, 12, was shot and killed by a Cleveland police officer on Saturday. He had been holding a BB gun that looked like a real gun, and officers say that he was not complying with their commands. 100 people stopped at the rec center on Monday to protest the police and show support to the family of the boy. They held up signs that read "To the family I'm sorry, to the cops enough is enough stop the genocide." Many also called for charges to be brought against officers involved in the shooting.

The 12-year-old boy shot by police in the US was told to show his hands three times by officers before they opened fire, a senior officer says. Tamir Rice, whom the officers appeared to believe was much older, was shot twice and later died in hospital. Cleveland police has released video and audio recordings of the incident. CCTV video shows the boy pointing the toy gun at a passer-by from the playground where he was shot, which prompted a 911 emergency call. Recordings of radio communications reveal a police officer at the scene describing Tamir Rice as aged "maybe 20" after the shooting. A separate recording appears to confirm the officers were not told the gun might be fake. Cleveland police said on Wednesday that the family had given permission for CCTV recordings of the shooting to be released. 'Male down' The footage shows Tamir Rice walking around a playground with a replica gun clearly in his hand. Minutes later, a police car drives up and stops immediately next to him. Chief officer Edward Tomba said that the car door was open when the officers arrived, and that they had ordered the 12-year-old to show his hands three times as the car pulled up alongside. The boy was then shot and fatally wounded. In a recording immediately after the incident, a police officer is heard saying: "Shots fired, male down, black male, maybe 20." A recording of the call from the operator to police officers as they were dispatched to the scene appears to confirm that there was no mention of a replica gun. The operator describes the incident as "a black male sitting on the swings, keeps pulling a gun out of his pants and pointing it at people". An audio recording of the 911 emergency call had previously revealed that the caller had said the gun was "probably a fake" on two occasions, before adding he was not sure whether it was "real or not".

http://www.vladtv.com - Cleveland police have now released surveillance footage of 12-year-old Tamir Rice being shot by rookie officer Timothy Loehmann literally seconds after pulling up and exiting his vehicle. Deputy Chief Edward Tomba confirmed today that the officer shot the African-American pre-teen just "1 ½-2 seconds" after arriving at the scene. A police spokesman said, "Upon arrival on scene, officers located the suspect and advised him to raise his hands. The suspect did not comply with the officers' orders and reached to his waistband for the gun. Shots were fired and the suspect was struck in the torso." The gun in question was a toy, not unlike the BB gun fellow Ohio resident, 22-year-old John Crawford, was carrying in a Wal-Mart when he was gunned down by officers earlier this year. According to the Police Chief, Loehmann claims he ordered Rice to raise his hands three three times by yelling from the passenger seat of the cop car as they approached. Police Release Video of Officer Shooting Tamir Rice Officer Timothy Loehman Seen Firing His Gun 1-2 Seconds After Arriving. In an unusual move for a department in the throes of investigation, Cleveland police leaders today released the video of Tamir Rice being shot at Cudell Rec Center. Police Chief Calvin Williams said the department decided to do this after cooperating with the family's wishes over the last few days. The release came at the request of Tamir Rice's family after they were first given the opportunity to watch the video. "I just want people to bear in mind that, again, this is a 12-year-old boy," Williams said, cautioning news media against a frenzy. Police also released the names of the responding officers: Timothy Loehman, 26, Badge #1231, appointed to the department March 3, 2014, and Frank Garmback, 46, Badge #1582, appointed to the department Feb. 25, 2008. Loehman was riding on the passenger side of the vehicle and was the officer who shot Tamir. The video had been "compressed for time," deputy chief Ed Tomba said, as Tamir occasionally is seen moving off-camera for minutes at a time. Police showed the silent video in its entirety, then once again with narration from Tomba. The 9-1-1 caller is seen sitting at a picnic table while Tamir paces back and forth on the sidewalk. Tamir is seen throwing a snowball, talking on his cell phone and pointing the air-soft gun in front of him at least twice throughout the series of video clips. Police arrive at 3:30 p.m., after Tamir had been sitting at a picnic table for some time. The squad car pulls up very close to Tamir, and then everything happens very fast: The officer riding in on the passenger side of the car gets out, and Tamir can be seen lifting his shirt with his right hand. Immediately, Tamir is seen falling down. Two shots were fired within "one-and-a-half to two seconds" of the officers pulling up, Tomba said. "Three commands were given to show your hands by Officer Loehman," Tomba said. "[The commands came] out the door...as they pulled up." Tomba wasn't clear when asked by reporters whether Tamir said anything to the officers. Earlier in the news conference, police played back audio clips that led to the response. The original 9-1-1 audio was played as news reporters gathered downtown for the event. The caller referred to the weapon as "probably fake" on two occasions. The caller also said that the person was "probably a juvenile, you know?" Then an audio clip of the dispatcher communicating with First District responders was played. The dispatcher referred to "a guy sitting on the swings, pointing a gun at people." There's no indication that the 9-1-1 caller expressed doubt about the weapon. The officer on the other end of the line, reached near West 159th Street and Lorain, is heard as he begins heading toward the park. Later: "Shots fired," from the officer.
