The Island of Hawaiʻi, also called the Big Island or Hawaiʻi Island ( /həˈwaɪ.i/ or /həˈwɑːiː/; Hawaiian: [həˈwɐiʔi] or [həˈvɐiʔi]), is a volcanic island (the eastern-most and southern-most in the Hawaiian islands chain) in the North Pacific Ocean. With an area of 4,028 square miles (10,430 km2), it is larger than all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined and is the largest island in the United States. The Island of Hawaiʻi is administered as the County of Hawaiʻi within the state of Hawaii. The county seat is Hilo. In modern times, Hawaiʻi is known as the "Big Island" to reduce confusion between Hawaiʻi Island and the state.
Hawaiʻi is said to have been named for Hawaiʻiloa, the legendary Polynesian navigator who first discovered it. Other accounts attribute the name to the legendary realm of Hawaiki, a place from which the Polynesians originated (see also Manua), the place where they go in the afterlife, the realm of the gods and goddesses. Captain James Cook, who called them the "Sandwich Islands", was killed on the Big Island at Kealakekua Bay. Hawaiʻi was the home island of Paiʻea Kamehameha, called Kamehameha the Great, who by 1795 united most of the Hawaiian Islands under his rule after several years of war. He gave his Kingdom of Hawaii the name of his native island, and the islands in chain are known collectively as "Hawaiian Islands".

Hawaii (i/həˈwaɪ.iː/ or /həˈwaɪʔiː/; Hawaiian: Hawaiʻi Hawaiian pronunciation: [hɐˈvɐiʔi]) is the most recent of the 50 U.S. states (August 21, 1959), and is the only U.S. state made up entirely of islands. It is the northernmost island group in Polynesia, occupying most of an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean.
Hawaii’s diverse natural scenery, warm tropical climate, abundance of public beaches and oceanic surrounding, and active volcanoes make it a popular destination for tourists, surfers, biologists, and volcanologists alike. Due to its mid-Pacific location, Hawaii has many North American and Asian influences along with its own vibrant native culture. Hawaii has over a million permanent residents along with many visitors and U.S. military personnel. Its capital is Honolulu on the island of Oʻahu.
The state encompasses nearly the entire volcanic Hawaiian Island chain, which comprises hundreds of islands spread over 1,500 miles (2,400 km). At the southeastern end of the archipelago, the eight "main islands" are (from the northwest to southeast) Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui, and the island of Hawaiʻi. The last is by far the largest and is often called "The Big Island" to avoid confusion with the state as a whole. The archipelago is physiographically and ethnologically part of the Polynesian subregion of Oceania.

Island I see you in the distance
I feel that your existence
Is not unlike my own
Island they say no man is like you
They say you stand alone
Sometimes I feel that way too
Is it the need for love?
Heart and soul accompaniment
That seems to make me different from you
I've tried to build bridges
But they all fell down
I've taken to the air on wings of silver
But always hit the ground
Island I see you in all of my dreams
But I'm a man with no means to reach your distant shore
Island I see you in the moonlight
Silhouettes of ships in the night
Just make me long that much more
To be like you
Heart and soul accompaniment
That seems to make me different from you
I've tried to build bridges
But they all fell down
I've taken to the air on wings of silver
But always hit the ground
[Instrumental]
What is life revealing?
But face reality
Take it how you want to
Nothing comes for free
We go on and on beleiving
In perfect harmony
Who tells us that's the right way
Just open up and see
Refrain :
Like living on an Island
I'm lost, no land in sight
Like living on an Island
I'm drifting without end
Somehow believing this dream all night
Like living on an Island
Never ending questions
A trip through darker space
Sometimes getting even
To questions as with grace
But in the end it's all believing
In which ever way you will
The answers of the mysteries
What's black is now to white
There is an island
Where it should never be
Surrounded by suburban sea
And through the tired and hopeless waves
To where it's free
I want to be there
For the rest of my time
There on the island
The sun is always bright
The moon sends the darkness away in the night
I know that it's waiting
I know there's a place ready for meI want to be there
For the rest of my time
Warm sounds of windsongs
Come down through the trees
But far away tears are borne on the breeze
I'll follow the raindrops
Cause sunshine and smiles are waiting for me
I want to be there
For the rest of my time
Sometimes it seems like yesterday
Other times more than a million years
Oh little girl sweeter than an angel
When I think of her I laugh,
And drown in my own tears
You draw your first breath so close to me
Now we've been apart for years and years
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday,
All I really came to say is
I still love you my sweet Island
Maybe times will someday build a bridge for us
Somewhere father down the line; I know
But for you this;
to show you who's on my mind
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday,
All I really came to say is
I still love you my sweet Island
Whatever they may say about my silence
Remember I'm an Island too
We're connected by more than an ocean
My blood runs in you
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday,
All I really came to say is
There are parts of me he'll never know, my wild horses and my river beds, and in my throat voices he'll never hear.
He pulls at me like a cherry tree, and I can still move but I don't speak about it.
Pretend I'm crazy, pretend I'm dead. He's to scared to hit me now - he'll bring flowers istead
I need an island, somewhere to sink a stone
I need an island, somewhere to bury you,
Somewhere to go
And the dogwoods shimmer in October sun, "oh sweet thing", he sings to me,
"You're the only one."
I need an island, somewhere to sink a stone
I need an island somewhere to bury you,
Somewhere
I need an island, somewhere to sink a stone
I need an island, somewhere to bury you,
Somewhere to go.
And I don't know why I can't tell my sister, He spat in my face again, and I don't want to die here. You know that dream when your feet won't move, you want to come but your body won't let you. He steals it from me.He steals it from me. It shines like sweat, like jewels, like something that has died to soon. He fucks with the beauty. A kiss, a kick, a kiss, a kick, a kiss kiss kick. He steals it from me. It's out of my hands again.
I need an island, somewhere to sink a stone
I need an island, somewhere to bury you,
Wake up my love
The sun is shinin? out that blue sky up above
It?s a brand new day
Let?s walk outside and let that breeze
Blow all our cares away
You know that we been there in that city life
We?ve been strangers for so long
Now that I feel like I know you again
I want to stay
So long ago, yeah
We had a love so warm and bright
When we had just begun
That was my last dream
Since then I?ve watched the rest crumble one by one
Since we?ve been on this island, yeah, it?s felt so right
It?s gettin? closer now everyday
Now that I feel like I know you again
I want to stay
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
You know that on my own, I don?t make it alone
I need someone who needs me
I only know that wherever you are
I want to be
But from now on
We won?t worry about a thing, yeah, the past is gone
This is our last day, yeah
We?re gonna make sweet love before we sail away
[Incomprehensible]
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
Sha la la, sha la la, sha la la, sha la la
The wind blows keen across the ridge
Black against a charcoal grey
We climb up here by the winding path made so long ago
In the valley below the last few lights
glow just like the embers of a fire
We begin to remember, we begin to remember
We came by the sea and we took the land
We spread out across the plains
And on and on to the mountains
Until there was nothing left to conquer
The sound of chopping trees echoed through the woods
We built the ships and the houses
and the bridges and the fortifications
Until there was nothing left to build with
Now in the silver grey dome of the sky
The birds fly home for winter
And we all come down to the shore and stare across the waves
We've got to get off the island
We carved monuments to the angry gods
We hauled stone across the deserts of our own making
From the standing stones to the villages
To the shining palaces looking out over the water
The soil is growing thin, the yield running low
There's too many of us here, too many of us here
And now ragged ribbons of rain sweep in
As the birds fly home for winter
And we all come down to the shore and stare across the waves
Someday on the moonwalk everything was right
Bounced on the onfloat history of life
Somewhere in the afterglow peeling it fell
And it's good to see the happiness far
You're the grass, you're the trees
You're the thing that makes the wind
You're the roots of the sky
You're an island
You never move, you never sleep
You're the thought I cannot keep
You're a denessen of the deep
You're an island
Always in the never glades
Purple wings in five picture
Golden eyes and I
Somewhere in the afterglow peeling it fell
Where it's coming from no one can ever tell
You're the grass, you're the trees
You're the thing that makes the wind
You're the roots of the sky
You're an island
You never move, you never sleep
You're the thought I cannot keep
You're a denessen of the deep
You're an island
Somewhere on the earth now everything is cool
Drinking from the after flow splash becomes a pool
Somewhere in the after glow peeling it fell
Where it's coming from no one can ever tell
You're the grass, you're the trees
You're the thing that makes the wind
You're the roots of the sky
You're an island
You never move, you never sleep
You're the thought I cannot keep
You're a denessen of the deep
You're an island
You never move, you never sleep
You're the thought I cannot keep
You're a denessen of the deep
You're an island
You're the moon, you're the glass
Down stone the donkeys ass
Up above the heavens laugh
Island...
If you make yourself an island, I'm gonna sail straight out to you
If you burn your bridges one by one, I'll not give up on you.
But if you scratch, scratch the surface, underneath the skin
Under the armour of that iron woman
So many things lie within...
So don't you test my love like you test the love of your boyfriends
Oh don't you know the love for a woman, for a woman, for a woman
Is there to the end, there to the end...?
I know you're feeling bitter and twisted, I've seen it
seeping out of every pore
Rising up beyond the goodness of a perfect human core
And if you peel, peel away the wisdom, underneath the skin
I wonder, I wonder, I wonder, I wonder what lies within...
Oh don't you lose my love, oh don't you lose your love my friend
Oh don't you know the love for a woman, for a woman
Is there to the end, there to the end?
I just wanted to say you know I love you...
If you bite, bite the hand that feeds you, don't think he'll
keep coming back for more
'Cause this is real life not the movies girl, I've told you that before
But if you scrape, scrape at the bravado, underneath the skin
Under the armour of everybody, so many things lie hidden...
So don't you, don't you, don't you doubt my love
Like you doubt the love of all your friends
Oh don't you know the love for a woman (repeat 11 times)
Is there to the end, there to the end?
Island
Bitter and twisted...
When I love you, do you feel it?
I know it makes you happy when I say "alright"
When I love you, do you feel it?
When I hold you, we're an island
You know it makes me happy when you say "alright"
When I hold you, we're an island
I know the road's a hard one
But it's easy when you're not alone
So help me to remember, please
Lady, I believe we'll get home
When I love you, do you feel it?
You know it makes me happy when you say "alright"
When I love you, do you feel it?
[guitar solo (Joey Molland)]
I know the road's a hard one
But it's easy when you're not alone
So help me to remember, please
Lady, I believe we'll get home
When I love you, do you feel it?
You know it makes me happy when you say "alright"
When I love you, we're an island
I know the road's a hard road
But it's easy when you're not alone
Help me to remember
Lady, I believe we'll make it home, get home
How did we end
So far out
Past praying
And past recall
To believe in nothing
Is a faith in itself
A lighthouse
In the eye of the storm
The nightmare
Of the nightmare
To follow the signal
Of a ghost ship
Our names are
Written in water
The knowledge
Is all around us
We came here
Given decision to live
Not taken
The flight towards the light
I'll stay in the lava for life
Erupting when gods take us all
Changing the peaks makes us pour
From the mountain and burn
The path of our time
Hail people of Iceland
Journey of a land anew
Ram as our liaison
Vision inspire and move
Awe holy island
Breed the lagoon to run free
Raw beauty is ruthless within the golden ring
Precision of Grungir
Spear of the Norse God Odin
Praise our Pagan Father
Founder of the Althing
Given decision to live
Not taken
The flight towards the light
I'll stay in the lava for life
Erupting when gods take us all
Changing the peaks makes us pour
From the mountain and burn
The path of our time
Ruler of sky's thunder
The honorable warrior
All divination
Beware the Hammer of Thor
Lava goddess
Ice and fire
Settling down
Ocean Geysir
Gullfoss
Let's sail away
Find our own country
We'll build a house and beds out of palm trees
Let's get away
Let's push our lives aside
I'll sport a smile
Take in some color
Under the stars
I'll be your lover
With no distractions I'm gonna treat you right
Well it seems like things are only getting better
Well it seems like we can never catch a break
Just a keep a hold on me don't let go
If you float away, if you float away
Waiting too long for a ship to come
Don't you float away, don't you float away
Let's go to bed
Let's stop debating
Look at the time
We're always waiting
But we're in love
And that should be just fine
Well it seems like things are only getting better
Well it seems like we can never catch a break
Just keep a hold on me don't let go
If you float away, if you float away
Waiting too long for a ship to come
Don't you float away, don't you float away
And if you like (and if you like)
and if you like some other time
I would like to introduce you to the finer things
If we survive (if we survive)
If we survive, get out alive
I'd like to say how beautiful I think you...
Just a keep a hold on me don't let go
If you float away, if you float away
Waiting too long for a ship to come
Ó, guð vors lands! Ó, land vors guðs,
vér lofum þitt heilaga, heilaga nafn,
úr sólkerfum himnanna hnýta þér krans
þínir herskarar, tímanna safn.
Fyrir þér er einn dagur sem þúsund ár
og þúsund ár dagur, ei meir:
eitt eilífðar smáblóm með titrandi tár,
sem tilbiður guð sinn og deyr.
Íslands þúsund ár,
eitt eilífðar smáblóm með titrandi tár,
sem tilbiður guð sinn og deyr.
this to say the things too hard to say
you know my way
it's just my way
restless, tense, and shifting in my seat
changing times fight bottom lines fight dreams
and darlin' you won't hear my voice tonight
even that is held just out of reach
i know... no one sees us making this
i feel it, and see it in their eyes
but i won't lose sleep, if when they see you they don't see me
i won't mind
all i've seen and known i would make ours
but for each thing that blesses, more leave scars
i found some softness in a world this hard
but if you should wake one day to find
baby, we could just stay home tonight
if you should need to leave my side
you'd leave a better man behind
you don't see yourself as mine
if you should wake one day to find
you don't see yourself as mine...
for just another soul that's come in from the cold
like and island in a sea of failing coals
seeking shelter from the coming storms
a fire that never dies before it's grown
i know, that no one sees us making this
i feel it, and see it in their eyes...
but i won't lose sleep, if when they see you they can't see me
i won't mind...
if you should need to leave my side
you don't see yourself as mine
but if you should wake one day to find
you'd leave a better man behind
if you should wake one day to find
if you should need to leave my side...
you don't see yourself as mine
And the situation's over
It don't lie
And it makes you wonder too hard
Who'd be right
Come with me to see one last thing
I've got time
And I want to show you something
You might like
I can feel it now
Oh the place I pray to see
Something lost is found
Leaves our souls forever free
Everything we really wanted
Enters clear
Take a look around
Go walking
See what's here
Stay inside my dream until our
Time wears thin
Walk out on this island with me
Then turn in
Can you feel it now
Oh the place I pray you see
Something lost is found
Hogg
See the sun is rising
A day is dawning on the Island
See the boats are leaving
With their treasure from the Island
Sail against the spirits of the age
Write across the page of history
Through the veil of darkness time will tell
The power of The Word to set you free
Break the chains on this land
Free the spirit of man
Break the chains on this land
Free the spirit of man
See the sun is rising
And the light it is revealing
Hearts that join in union
Hands that join in healing
Sail across the waters that divide
Write across the page of history
Move into a land that cannot hide
From the power of the Holy Trinity
Break the chains on this land
Free the spirit of man
Break the chains on this land
You take me to an island
Far from all my cares
Not really a place more
In my heart somewhere
When I look into Your eyes
I feel peace around me
Soft rain upon dry waste
A river of life flows
Through my emptiness
When I look into Your eyes
You take me away into Your grace
Deep in the light and life I?m lead
You give me peace, give me rest
To have You with me is all that I need
The rush of Your flooding spins me 'round
You take me to an island
Far from all my cares
Not really a place more
In my heart somewhere
When I look into your eyes
I feel peace around me
Soft rain upon dry waste
A river of life flows
Through my emptiness
When I look into your eyes
You take me away into your grace
Deep in the light and life I€™m lead
You give me peace give me rest
To have you with me is all that I need
The rush of your flooding spins me €˜round
Your hope will lift me off the ground
She's like the ocean that takes my breath away;
Endless an' open and in a moment she can change,
Lke water flowin' and fillin' up my soul.
No way of knowing how deep she really goes.
An' sometimes I can predict her like the tides.
An' some days her storm'll take me by surprise.
But I'm her rock up on the shoreline:
I'm her piece of solid ground.
An' I'm the one that she can lean on,
When her waves come crashin' down.
An' she's afraid that with the rain,
I'll drift away an' I'll disappear.
But she's my ocean, an' I'm her island:
I ain't goin' anywhere.
What she don't know is:
Before she came along,
I was goin' nowhere.
So close to being gone:
Just another drifter lost at sea,
Until the day her love surrounded me.
Now I'm her rock up on the shoreline:
I'm her piece of solid ground.
An' I'm the one that she can lean on,
When her waves come crashin' down.
An' she's afraid that with the rain,
I'll drift away an' I'll disappear.
But she's my ocean, an' I'm her island:
I ain't goin' anywhere.
An' she's afraid that with the rain,
I'll drift away an' I'll disappear,
But I'm stayin' right here:
'Cause she's my ocean, an' I'm her island:
I ain't goin' anywhere.
On an island I long to be
Gazing out upon the shining surface of the sea
I hear the sound of the ocean wave on wave
Crying, "You who have turned away from home"
Ascnam tar tuinn topur ndílenn dochum nÉirenn To sail across the wild sea back to Ireland
Deus caeli ac terrae God of heaven and earth
Maris et fluminum The sea and the rivers
Deus solis ac lunae God of the sun and the moon
On an island I long to live
Seabirds lament the coming of the winter wind
I hear the endless sound of sea on shore
Crying, "You who have turned away from home"
Deus super caelo et in caelo et sub caelo God above heaven and in heaven and under heaven
Habet habitaculum erga caelum He dwells in heaven
Et terram et mare And earth and sea
Et omnia quae sunt in eis And all that is in them
Non separantur Pater Not separate are the Father
Et Filius et Spiritus Sanctus The Son and the Holy Spirit
On an island I long to be
Evening brings a whisper of the summer breeze
I hear the song of the ocean wave on wave
Crying, "You who have turned away from home"
Ascnam tar tuinn topur ndílenn dochum nÉirenn To sail across the wild sea back to Ireland
Inspirat omnia He inspires all things
Vivificat omnia He makes all things grow
Superat omnia He is above all things
Suffulcit omnia He supports all things
In an old apartment waiting for the walls to move
Praying that someone, hoping that no one intrudes
Living like an actor, feeling like a poet bruised
But no man is an island
Lay down your robe, leper or rogue
Keep yourself open here
Don't let the cold close to your soul
Lonely tonight
Passing like a shadow, never letting anyone see
And maybe I'm biased but I don't think
You know the first thing about me
But no man is an island
Lay down your robe, leper or rogue
Keep yourself open here
Don't let the cold close to your soul
No one is free, come light
And heavier stones think to themselves
That they're alone here
But everyone grieves and everyone feels
Lonely tonight
Don't tell me you know
When I know you don't
Don't tell me you know
When you know you don't
Lay down your robe, leper or rogue
Keep yourself open here
Don't let the cold close to your soul
No one is free, come light
And heavier stones think to themselves
That they're alone here
But everyone grieves and everyone feels
Lonely tonight
Written by: Ben Taylor
I'm an island
Everyone can see that I'm an island
I've got ocean just about
Everywhere that I can see
So I'll be stranded unless you come to me
And I'm lonely
I would rather fall from grace completely,
than let you change my mind
I would rather bet my life against the rising of the sun.
Can't be too careful
About the friends you keep around you
Some won't ever let you down
Some who'll fail you every day?
And it's a blatant disrespect of privacy
It enrages me
But I would rather fall from grace completely,
than let you change my mind
I would rather bet my life against the rising of the sun.
I'm an island
Can't you understand me I'm an Island
And I'm finally by myself
The way I've got to be
Now that's exactly the thing that's been killing me
I would rather fall from grace completely,
than let you change my mind
And I would rather bet my life against the rising of the sun
I would rather bet my life against the rising of the sun
I gave you a boat so you could sail around the world
Watched you disappear into the sun
I thought you about there
In those vast wide open spaces
Wondered if you miss me
And all our favorite places
Without a destination
Drifting aimlessly to find
Keeping your eyes open for a home
You stumbled on your port of call
You set your anchors deep
Learned another language
one that I could never speak
Ooh and I, I can see you smiling
On every waterline horizon
If you’re lost, I’ll be your island
Before you left we talked about
If you’d be coming back
And “I don’t know” was all that you could say
I remember walking to the docks to wave goodbye
I promised that I wouldn’t
But I couldn’t help but cry
I got a couple phone calls
Some postcards in the mail
To let me know that you were still alive
One time I thought I saw you
In the square under the clock
I felt such like such a fool
I chased a stranger seven blocks
Ooh and I, I can see you smiling
On every waterline horizon
If you’re lost, I’ll be your island
I set out to find you once
Naïve I never dreamed
That maybe you’d prefer to be alone
No sooner did I find you
That I gave you to the sea
I wish I’d been the sailor that you wanted me to be
Ooh and I, I can see you smiling
On every waterline horizon
If you’re lost, I’ll be your island
I will be your island
I’ll be your island
There is an island
Where it should never be
Surrounded by suburban sea
And through the tired and hopeless waves
To where it's free
I want to be there
For the rest of my time
There on the island
The sun is always bright
The moon sends the darkness away in the night
I know that it's waiting
I know there's a place ready for me
I want to be there
For the rest of my time
Warm sounds of windsongs
Come down through the trees
But far away tears are borne on the breeze
I'll follow the raindrops
Cause sunshine and smiles are waiting for me
I want to be there
LIKE AN ISLAND'S SUNSHINE I'M SHOWERED
TODAY IS GOING TO BE AN EXTRA OFF DAY
LIKE AN ISLAND'S SUNSHINE I'M SHOWERED
SOMEHOW FEEL LIKE BEING LAZY TODAY
GET A BEER,I THINK I NEED SOME CHEER ME UP
MAKE A TOAST TO THE FLUFFY CLOUDS IN THIS SKY
LOW CURE STRESSED OUT
RINGING BELL CRUMBLE SNATCHING MY TIME
TIME TO GET BUSY BUT I WON'T KEEP IT UP
THEN TOMORROW COMES UP SOME LIKE THIS AGAIN!

If I had a dollar
for every reason that I loved you
I would be a rich man
Be a rich man.
And with that money
I would buy you the whole world
Greatly realize you just wanted me.
[Pre-Chorus]
Then I look at you and me together
Quickly realize this has felt like heaven all along
[Chorus]
And if you were on an island
I would swim the whole ocean just to say you're not alone
And if you are feeling lonely
I'd lose everything
I'd lose everything just to be with you
[Verse 2]
Time cannot erase
what love has brought together
I will be with you
Be with you.
Miles cannot define
what love holds together
[Pre-Chorus]
Do not lose hope
Love will bring us home
[Chorus]
And if you were on an island
I would swim the whole ocean just to say you're not alone
And if you are feeling lonely
I'd lose everything
I'd lose everything just to be with you
Just to be with you
[Bridge]
Do you feel it burning?
I can feel the fire
like it's the first time.
Like it's the first time.
Do you feel it burning?
I can feel the fire
like it's the first time.
Like it's the first time.
Watching you as you sleep
You seem to do it so easily
It's not that easy for me
Though I wish it could be.
Want to go to your island, I
Want to go to your island
Want to go to your island
With you
I'm tired of keeping you at arms length
It was my weakness, now it's my greatest strength
All I want to do is go to sleep
And wake up with you next to me
It's not that I'm asking
And I don't want to know
Watching you as you sleep
You seem to do it so easily
It's not that easy for me
Though I wish it could be.
Want to go to your island, I
Want to go to your island
Want to go to your island
With you
I'm tired of keeping you at arms length
It was my weakness, now it's my greatest strength
All I want to do is go to sleep
And wake up with you next to me
It's not that I'm asking
You're an island
I'm just a little boat
I'm heading somewhere
I don't even know
Hope you don't mind me stopping by your shore
Come with me and you'll never be alone
Open up your heart to me
We'll explore the seven seas
Sail away and find your dreams
And if you drown I'll help keep your head up
And if you drown I'll help keep your head up
To breath
You will lead the way
I'll be battle storm
We can let the waves tell us where to go
We can always do anything you want
We will try to capture the natural love
Open up your heart to me
We'll explore the seven seas
Sail away and find your dreams
And if you drown I'll help keep your head up
And if you drown I'll help keep your head up
To breath
We watch the blue sky
Before the sunrise
And tide is getting high
I'm here by your side
We watch the blue sky
Before the sunrise
And tide is getting high
I'm here by your side
Open up your heart to me
We'll explore the seven seas
Sail away and find your dreams
And if you drown I'll help keep your head up
And if you drown I'll help keep your head up
It's color by numbers
I'm a pretender
I wear a smile on my face for the ride
I think I'm unable,
I'm undecided
Life in a glass house won't keep you alive
Do I really have to make it clear?
Oh that life's a survival
I guess I'm not fittest, or I would be
Somewhere far away from here
Guess I am somewhere
Far away
Cause I am an ISLAND,
You took away my oars
Now I'm left roamin'
All up and down the shore
I'm casting up flares
Tryin to warm up your heart
And the stars are just memories
Of the day when our eyes met.
Now I am an ISLAND
Cause I am an ISLAND
Cause I am an ISLAND
And the stars are just memories
Of the day when our eyes met.
Now I am an ISLAND
Time is abundant,
Contact one-sided
Is this a prison or within my reach?
When the dust has settled,
I put myself in this place
And even though I need outta here,
It's the only place I'm safe.
Cause I am an ISLAND,
You took away my oars
Now I'm left roamin'
All up and down the shore
I'm casting up flares
Tryin to warm up your heart
And the stars are just memories
Of the days when our eyes met.
Now I am an ISLAND
Your voice echoes in the trees,
When the wind is on my back
I can feel it in the breeze
With a whisper it comes,
Back to the beginning,
Where our shadow was cast
And on the day that it came crashing down,
I could collapse.
Life is lonely when it's only a game,
I built a wall around my heart,
When you stepped outta the frame
But I only got myself to blame
Cause I am an ISLAND,
You took away my oars
Now I'm left roamin'
All up and down the shore
I'm casting up flares
Tryin to warm up your heart
And the stars are just memories
Of the days when our eyes met.
Now I am an ISLAND
Cause I am an ISLAND
Cause I am an ISLAND
And the stars are just memories
Of the days when our eyes met.
Now I am an ISLAND
Cause I am an ISLAND
I am an ISLAND
Sometimes it seems like only yesterday
Other times more than a million years
Oh little girl, sweeter than an angel
When I think of her I laugh and drown in my own tears
You drew your first breath so close to me
Now we've been apart for years and years
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday
All I really came to say is, I still love you my sweet island
Maybe time will someday build a bridge for us
Somewhere further down the line
As a time to call arise, I know
But for you this song will show you who's on my mind
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday
All I really came to say is, I still love you my sweet island
Whatever they might say about my silence
Remember I'm an island too
We're connected by more than an ocean
My blood runs in you
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday
All I really came to say is, come see me
I still love you my sweet island

I'm an island
Everyone can see that I'm an island
I've got ocean just about
Everywhere that I can see
So I'll be stranded unless you come to me
And I'm lonely
I would rather fall from grace completely,
than let you change my mind
I would rather bet my life against the rising of the sun.
Can't be too careful
About the friends you keep around you
Some won't ever let you down
Some who'll fail you every day?
And it's a blatant disrespect of privacy
It enrages me
But I would rather fall from grace completely,
than let you change my mind
I would rather bet my life against the rising of the sun.
I'm an island
Can't you understand me I'm an Island
And I'm finally by myself
The way I've got to be
Now that's exactly the thing that's been killing me
I would rather fall from grace completely,
than let you change my mind
And I would rather bet my life against the rising of the sun
Sun, sea and sand and a blue september. Everything's
wide, calm and peaceful. Walking down the shore with our
feet in the water. It gave me a magical feeling. Lovely
island nearby, has won over my heart. The sun on my face
and you by my side, we're all alone, nothing can touch us
now. Trying to believe that it could be like this
forever, but I don't think so. How long will it take to
forget it? How long will it take for the magic to
disappear, pushed away by October-obligations? Going over
to a place, waiting for a thing to change. Going over to
a place in my mind. It's nearby, yet so far away from all
our daily worries, that disappear, pushed away by high

If you're gonna be a mountain
Let me see you thrust your snows
In innocence through clouds of doubt
That try to keep your reason out
In these times of glaciated slaughter
If you're gonna be a legend
Let it be a tale whose telling
Is a state of mind that's dwelling
Far beyond the words dark capture
To fill the heart alone with rapture
In these days of circles
If your gonna be an island
I will be a sailing ship
Who like a speck at total distance
Looms beyond your headland breakers
Till the oceans mighty plunder
Bids me seek the gentler shelter
Of your inland waters
Have you never seen beyond the moon?
Don't you know that we will be there soon?
Have you no eyes to see
That you are only me and we are only
Travellers upon a sea of time
Someone's gotta come here and save me
Someone better be here in time
Should'n in the dark for too long now
If only i can past so far
Again i come
I do rerun
It's like i'm the only one
Again i come
I do rerun
It's like i, i've just begun
Refrain:
In my heart is like an Island
And i'm standing all alone
In my heart is like an island
And i'm standing all alone
2 Vers:
Someone's gotta come here and finde me
Someone's better make up their mind
Never meant to lose what i long for
Never meant to be so up...`?
Again i come
I do rerun
It's like i'm the only one
Again i come
I do rerun
It's like i, i've just begun
Refrain:
In my heart is like an Island
And i'm standing all alone
In my heart is like an island
And i'm standing all alone
In my heart is like an Island
And i'm standing all alone
In my heart is like an island
