Deborah Kreiling has been creating sewing patterns with the Simplicity Pattern Company for 35 years, and in her four-part course, she will teach you all of the basic skills you need to know to follow a pattern and make gorgeous clothing. Creativebug is offering this first class for free, so you will learn how to start making an iconic gathered skirt. While this garment is fairly simple, it offers lots of learning opportunities. Deborah begins by taking you on a full tour of the pattern envelope, guide sheet, and pattern tissue, so you’ll understand how all of these elements work together. Then, starting with just your waist measurement, Deborah explains how to pick your size and cut your pattern pieces. You will also learn how to insert side front-seam pockets, apply fusible interfacing, and gather the upper edge of your skirt. In the three classes on Creativebug, Deborah will show you how to finish your skirt. And then move onto tops and dresses. I've done a lot of shopping recently so to make myself feel less guilty about it I made it into a haul video! So this video is a big haul of all the new autumn/winter bits I've bought recently from Primark, Zara, H&M;, River Island and Matalan.
