Plot
Doc and Champ run a travelling store, a wagon of goods which they pull into an Indian reservation, "Scalpum Village". They succeed in selling goods to the various Indians but one lovesick Indian requires female companionship... and will pay big money for it. Not one to pass up a quick buck, Doc decides to disguise Champ as a female Indian. At first, the Indian is unimpressed but Doc sprays him with a love potion and the smitten Indian madly gives chase. Champ, however, wants no part of romance and flees the Indian. Eventually, they crash into Doc's wagon culminating in a woman's dress and "Goldilocks" wig landing on Doc. The Indian, looking over the two, decides Doc is now the "woman" worth chasing after and chases him into the distance.

Specific details vary from region to region, but overall Indian weddings are elaborate affairs that last several days. While American weddings can be fancy, festivities often occur over a span of 5 hours. Sometimes less. Number 9. Street food. Despite the popularity of food trucks, for the most part, hot dogs and soft pretzels still dominate the American street eats landscape. India doesn’t have such problems as vendors there cook up just about everything from savory to sweet. Number 8. Life hacks. The talent of making do with what you’ve got is well expressed in India. Extreme DIY endeavors are regionally called ‘Jugaad’ and can include throwing together a tractor with stuff that’s just lying around. Number 7. Ornate religious buildings. Sure, the US has some impressive churches, but nothing that really dazzles quite like the temples of India. Number 6. Alternative medicine. Among the established wellness approaches in India is the ancient practice of Ayurveda. Rather than solely addressing the science of how the body works, it incorporates the ideas of connectedness with the universe and one’s life force. Number 5. Maximizing available transportation. Do you find it upsetting when there’s no room on the train? Well, in parts of India rail passengers take full advantage of all possible places to sit or stand. Same goes for other transportation modes. Number 4. Dances. No doubt, Hollywood has created some truly fabulous dance sequences. But given India's history, the country is home to literally thousands of dance forms. There are classical dances which are rich in symbolism and traditions. Then there are fast-paced folk dances. And finally, you simply can't ignore Bollywood dances which seem to be amalgamation of many forms. Number 3. Spirituality. India has long been regarded as a great place to tap into one’s incorporeal existence. Due to the popularity of the book and film Eat, Pray, Love, spending time in an ashram has, for many, become synonymous with self-fulfillment and spiritual awakening. Number 2. Epics. When a place has been around as long as India has, there are many stories to be told. Among the most beloved are Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The latter is said to have taken hundreds of years to write. Both have been popularized and dramatized by several TV series. Number 1. Yoga. The main objective of American yoga is typically fitness. In India, it’s a much more complex practice, complete with a centuries-old treatise and objectives that include mental discipline and communing with a higher power. The Ugly Indian is an anonymous collective that does not talk to media, wants no publicity and works with the motto - Only Work No Talk. However, they made an exception for TEDxBangalore so that they could open up the question of why we as Indians are okay with filthy public spaces? The tragedy of the commons - can we change it to the victory of the commons? There's a silent revolution brewing in India, and it's called The Ugly Indian. It is anonymous, faceless and leaderless, and has seen thousands of citizens coming out to fix local civic problems following a simple motto: Kaam Chalu Mooh Bandh. Only Work No Talk. What started off as a series of social experiments in Bangalore in 2011, to see what it takes to change everyday ugly Indian behaviour in public spaces (littering, spitting paan, public urination and more), has now transformed into a nation-wide movement that is spreading virally – both on social media, and on the ground. The centrepiece of the TUI approach is the 'spotfix ' where ugly spots are 'fixed' by citizens. There is no activism, no sloganeering, no lecturing, no finger-pointing and no ideological debates – just a sincere attempt to solve problems by focusing on a spot - using one's own time, hands and money. So do many Native Americans who have protested the use of the term by that team. Activists say the team’s name and its logo — the image of a generic Indian man in profile, with braids and long feathers — celebrate negative stereotypes about America’s indigenous people. On this show, we’re taking a long look at how native people have been represented — and misrepresented — in U.S. history. We’ll also ask how American Indians themselves have challenged and reinvented those depictions. We’ll have stories about art in the early days of European conquest, dioramas in America’s museums of natural history, and a 19th century football team actually made up entirely of American Indian players.

Gunsmoke Full Episode 2x11 Summary - Sam tells matt the Pawnees killed and scalped a family. Matt and Chester go to look. They meet Captain Starr. Matt says he'd like to tag along. They find a man, woman, boy and little girl shot and scalped. Matt remarks every family was killed in the open. Matt says it wasn't indians. It was whites who did it for horses and whatever they could find. Matt and Chester get some horses by and old shack and make a fire to draw the murderers. Lee Stapp rides in to scope out the situation and offers his services. Matt knocks him out and Chester ties him up. Matt says there are six men coming in. We're going to ambush them. Matt and Chester open fire. Jake yells uncle. They say what are you doing shooting innocents. Matt shows them the yellow ribbon tied around the braid of the little girl's doll he took off Stapp. Stapp took it as a sourvenir. Jake told everyone to take nothing. Premiering on CBS in September 1955 and completing its network run September 1975, Gunsmoke is the longest-running dramatic series in the history of TV. Two of its stars, James Arness and Milburn Stone, remained all 20 seasons, with Amanda Blake a close second, departing after 19 years. Gunsmoke started a longtime trend for TV westerns. At one point there were 30 of them on the air at the same time. But Gunsmoke outlasted the others and at the time of its cancelation in 1975, it was the only show of its kind still on the air.
