Virgin Trains (legally known as West Coast Trains Limited) is a train operating company in the United Kingdom controlled by Virgin Group. It operates long-distance passenger services on the West Coast Main Line (WCML) between London, the West Midlands, North West England, North Wales and Scotland. The company is 49% owned by Stagecoach Group.
Virgin Trains was formed to take advantage of the privatisation of British Rail in the mid-1990s. It was initially successful in winning two rail franchises: InterCity West Coast (Virgin West Coast), operating long-distance services on the West Coast Main Line, and InterCity CrossCountry (Virgin CrossCountry), operating a group of long-distance non-London routes centred on Birmingham. The two franchises, though legally and operationally separate, were marketed as a single brand.
The CrossCountry franchise was lost to Arriva group in 2007. Most services were transferred to Arriva, except those between Manchester and Scotland, which went to First Transpennine Express, and those between Birmingham and Scotland (via the west coast mainline), which went to Virgin West Coast.

So here it is, my last video of the Pretendolino on its final ever scheduled passenger journey from Birmingham to London on Friday 24th October 2014.
The stock has been leased by Porterbrook and is now being returned so will no longer be used by Virgin Trains. Its fate once in Porterbrooks hands I do not know.
That's the last loco-hauled intercity service on the WCML now gone, the only loco-hauled train is now the sleeper.
Lots of people turned out to give it one final ride. The following day the stock operated a farewell charter from Crewe to Holyhead, but this was its final scheduled passenger service.
Video includes a shot of it passing Milton Keynes on its way north, then the journey on it back to London from Birmingham + a walk through of the entire train once arrived in London.

On Monday 2nd March 2015, on their second day of operation Virgin Trains East Coast unveiled their first train in the full new livery. It operated the 11:00 King's Cross to Edinburgh, the former "Flying Scotsman" service. This video includes the departure of the new livery set and various other services with a Virgin label slapped on it. It does also feature an East Midlands Trains HST which is currently being used for Virgin East Coast. Check out the arrival at 06:02 in the video, 91109 had failed and had been rescued by another.
Looking forward to seeing a HST and some more 225 sets rolling out in the new livery! Personally think its much more appealing that the dull, boring grey that East Coast currently have.

I traveled First Class on the journey and was in for a real treat! I have listed a list of all the food/drinks that I received on the journey!

A heatwave in Pakistan's largest city Karachi and other districts of southern Sindh province has killed at least 122 people, health officials have said. "Since Saturday 114 people have died in Karachi and eight others (have died) in three districts of Sindh," provincial health secretary Saeed Mangnejo told AFP news agency ...
