    Choose a Voice at Work

In 29 states, it is legal to fire someone because of their sexual orientation. In 32 states the same is true for gender identity or expression. Because of the patchwork of state and federal marriage laws, same-sex couples experience a complicated array obstacles in the workplace.

In a majority of states, a union contract is the only protection that LGBT workers have. For all workers, the power of standing together as part of a union is the most effective way to win fair working conditions.

    Leadership Skills Training

Pride at Work conducts trainings to help rank-and-file union members develop leadership & organizing skills that are custom-tailored to address key local issues. Our trainings focus on four key goals:

    (1) Learn about the Union Difference for LGBT workers (2) Learn to communicate effectively about LGBT issues at work. (3) Develop organizing skills for building your Local Union. (4) Increase understanding of LGBT issues at the intersections of race/ethnicty, gender, and immigration status
