Paul Colman, (born 22 August 1967) is a British–Australian pop-rock guitarist, vocalist, pianist, and composer.
Colman was born and brought up in London; his father is Australian and his mother is British. When he was seven years old, his father left his successful life of theatre and music for a life of ministry back in Australia. His father was a long-standing Associate Pastor at Melbourne's Crossway Baptist Church and a well known gospel singer. Colman thus began his musical career living in Melbourne, starting his first band when he was eleven years old. During the first part of his life Colman did not take music too seriously, and focused on his career as a high-school teacher of history, English, and religion.
He has made a name for himself as a Christian musician independently, with his band the Paul Colman Trio, as a solo artist, and recently with the Newsboys. His songwriting abilities have been acknowledged with a Grammy nomination and Dove Awards.
In 1998, Colman began the Paul Colman Trio, or PC3, in Melbourne; it has been credited as being at the forefront of the Contemporary Christian music scene in Australia. The debut single, "Fill My Cup", ranked number three on TRAA, and attracted more than 1,000 people for each CD launch in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Colman fans can be found around the globe due to his willingness to travel sharing his craft with listeners from Uganda to Holland to Perth and beyond.
Paul Colman Trio (often stylised as pc3) is an Australian Contemporary Christian music group composed of Paul Colman, Phil Gaudion, and Grant Norsworthy. The band released four studio albums, two live albums, and several Christian radio hit singles such as Turn, The Selfish Song, and Fill My Cup. Their major-label studio album debut New Map of the World (2002) received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album. Paul Colman started his career as a solo artist, releasing two albums in the 1990s. Then with pc3, he produced two more studio albums and two live albums, before breaking into the United States market with the pc3 Live Acoustic album. That was followed by two more studio albums and worldwide touring before announcing in February 2004 they would be "taking a break as a recording/performing band", citing "financial and family considerations" as primary reasons.
In April 2009, Paul Colman Trio re-formed after a five-year break for a reunion show at Easterfest in Toowoomba, QLD, Australia. In 2011, PC3 is once again confirmed as one of the headline artists at Easterfest (22–24 April 2011). From 13–17 April, Paul Colman Trio will tour several major cities in Australia.
You're the one
Left standing on your own
Watching the world go by
And you're the one
Left standing with your pain
Up on a movie screen
And you're the one
Who's got to be so strong
'Cause people need you now
You're the one
Left standing on your own
You want to grieve alone
But I'm the one who's got to face the world
I've gotta paint my brave face on
People need to know that life goes on
Even after death has come
And you're the one left standing on your own
At first we grieve
For this departed soul
Never to return
And then we grieve
For those that they had known
And those they call their own
And last we grieve
For our humanity
For we know our destiny
And you're the one
Left here to decide
What is on the other side
