Carl may refer to:

Carl Cox (born 29 July 1962, Barbados) is a British techno and house music DJ and producer.

Cox grew up in Oldham, Lancashire, before attending Glastonbury High Boys secondary modern school on Glastonbury Road in Morden.^{[citation needed]} Cox began his career as a hardcore and rave DJ in the mid 1980s. One of the first gigs he played was in legendary promoters John Binton and Terry Onion's Squeeze my buttered Onions! club in Hackney, London Unconfirmed reports suggest he was coerced into swallowing an onion on stage, one of Terry's famous requests he gave to his acts. He was named the "Three Deck Wizard" after playing on three turntables simultaneously at the Second Summer of Love in 1988.^{[citation needed]} He has performed at clubs such as The Eclipse, Edge, Shelly's, Sterns Nightclub, Heaven, Sir Henry's in Cork, Ireland and Angels and The Haçienda, as well as raves for Fantazia, Dreamscape, and Amnesia House. He now spearheads two record labels, Intec Records and 23rd Century Records. He also has his own stage every year at Ultra Music Festival called Carl Cox and Friends.

Carl Froch (born on 2 July 1977) is a British professional boxer and the current IBF Super Middleweight Champion and former two-time WBC Super Middleweight Champion. He has also held the British, Commonwealth and English titles at super middleweight.

Froch began boxing at his home in Colwick, Nottingham at 9 years old. He later joined the Phoenix ABC in Gedling, near Nottingham. As an amateur, he won two ABA Middleweight titles in 1999 and 2001 and a bronze medal at the 2001 World Amateur Boxing Championships before turning pro and having his first pro fight in March 2002. As an amateur, Froch lost to American Peter Manfredo Jr. in a 4th round technical knock out.

During his amateur career, he lost a fight to Denis Inkin, who he was scheduled to fight in a title eliminator in 2008, but Inkin pulled out on three occasions.^{[citation needed]}

Froch has had 31 professional fights, with 21 knockout and 8 decision victories, suffering defeat only twice.

Froch is trained by Robert McCracken and managed by Barry Hearn.

Miguel Ángel Cotto (born on October 29, 1980) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer. Cotto is a former WBA (Super) Light Middleweight Champion. He is the younger brother of contender Jose Miguel Cotto and cousin of Abner Cotto and Carlos Cotto. He is a four-time world champion in three weight divisions (light welterweight, welterweight and light middleweight).

On September 11, 2004, Cotto faced Kelson Pinto from Brazil, for the vacant WBO Light Welterweight title. This represented the third fight between them, with Pinto being victorious in their two previous encounters, both of which took place while they were still amateurs. Many fight fans feel this was due to the training from Edward Bemis in Puerto Rico. The fight was televised by HBO from San Juan, Puerto Rico. During this card, Cotto utilized a defensive stance with his hands in a high position instead of his usual aggressive orthodox stance. Over the course of the fight Cotto scored three knockdowns and won the fight by knockout in the sixth round.

Floyd Joy Mayweather, Jr. (born Floyd Sinclair; February 24, 1977) is an American professional boxer. He is a five-division world champion, where he has won eight world titles, as well as the Lineal Championship in three different weight classes. He is a two-time The Ring "Fighter of the Year," winning the award in 1998 and 2007 also won the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) "Fighter of the Year" award in 2007 and Best Fighter ESPY Award 2007, 2008 and 2010. He is undefeated as a professional boxer.

Currently, Mayweather is the WBC Welterweight Champion,WBA (Super) Light Middleweight Champion and recipient of the WBC Diamond belt. He is also rated as the best pound for pound boxer in the world by most sporting news and boxing websites, including Sports Illustrated, ESPN, BoxRec, Fox Sports, Yahoo! Sports and About.com.

Mayweather was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., into a family of boxers. His father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., was a former welterweight contender who fought Hall of Famer Sugar Ray Leonard and his uncles, Jeff Mayweather and Roger Mayweather, were all professional boxers, with Roger – Floyd’s current trainer – winning two world championships. Mayweather was born with his mother's last name, but his last name would change to Mayweather shortly thereafter.
