Wood Green is a district of north London, England, in the London Borough of Haringey. It is 6.7 miles (10.8 km) north of Charing Cross, and is west of Tottenham, south of Palmers Green and north of Harringay. The population, comprising the Noel Park and Woodside wards, was 28,453 in the 2011 Census. The London Plan identifies the area as one of the metropolitan centres in Greater London.
In the latter half of the 19th century and before urbanisation, Wood Green was part of Tottenham and covered by woodland called Tottenham Wood: hence the original name of the area, Tottenham Wood Green. The 18 acre area was auctioned off as 'Wood-Green' in 9 separate plots on 13 August 1806 by local agent Prickett and Ellis at Garraway's Coffee house in Cornhill,London.
In 1894, Wood Green was created as an urban district, and later a municipal borough, of Middlesex. In 1965, under the London Government Act 1963, the Municipal Borough of Wood Green was abolished and its area merged with that of the Municipal Borough of Tottenham and the Municipal Borough of Hornsey to form the present-day London Borough of Haringey.
London i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms Greater London, a region of England governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The conurbation also covers two English counties: the small district of the City of London and the county of Greater London. The latter constitutes the vast majority of London, though historically it was split between Middlesex (a now abolished county), Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire.
The Oyster card is a form of electronic ticketing used on public transport in Greater London in the United Kingdom. It is promoted by Transport for London and is valid on travel modes across London including London Underground, London Buses, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Overground, trams, some river boat services, and most National Rail services within the London fare zones.
A standard Oyster card is a blue credit-card-sized stored-value contactless smartcard that can hold single tickets, period tickets and travel permits, which must be added to the card before travel. Passengers touch it on an electronic reader when entering and leaving the transport system in order to validate it or deduct funds. Cards may be "topped-up" by recurring payment authority, by online purchase, at credit card terminals or by cash, the last two methods at stations or ticket offices. The card is designed to reduce the number of transactions at ticket offices and the number of paper tickets. Usage is encouraged by offering substantially cheaper fares than with cash though the acceptance of cash is being phased out. On London buses, cash is no longer accepted.
Rail service fares in Greater London and the surrounding area are calculated in accordance with the London fare zones system managed by Transport for London. Within London all London Underground, National Rail, London Overground, TfL Rail and Docklands Light Railway stations are assigned to nine fare zones. Fare zone 1 covers the central area and fare zones 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 form concentric rings around it. Some National Rail stations and all Transport for London served stations outside Greater London in the counties of Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Surrey are either included in fare zones 4,5 or 6 or in extended zones beyond these. Transport for London fare zones are also known simply as zones or travelcard zones, referring to their use in calculating prices for the travelcard product. Before flat fares were introduced in 2004, fare zones were used on the London Buses network. London fare zones are also used for calculating the cost of single and return paper tickets, Oyster card pay-as-you-go fares and season tickets.
Fare zone 2 is an inner zone of Transport for London's zonal fare system used for calculating the price of tickets for travel on the London Underground, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway and, since 2007, on National Rail services.
London is split into six approximately concentric zones for the purpose of determining the cost of single fares and Travelcards. Every London Underground line—except for the Waterloo & City line—has stations in zone 2. It was created on 22 May 1983 and extends from approximately 2 to 5 miles (3 to 8 km) from Piccadilly Circus.

London Mayoral Candidate Stephen Greenhalgh makes a pledge to cut tube fares by 3%, year on year, if he becomes Mayor of London. This would save more than £900 over four years for people buying an annual Zone 1-3 Travelcard, and more than £1400 for people buying an annual Zone 1-6 Travelcard. Stephen Greenhalgh, who is the current Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, said "Over the last few years, the Mayor took the tough decisions necessary for the much-needed investment in London's public transport. We must now bring Tube prices down, especially for those who keep the city running - the nurses, teachers and paramedics." Stephen was joined at the launch by Steve O'Connell AM, London Assembly Member for Croydon & Sutton, and Richard Tracey AM, London Assembly Member for Merton & Wands...
I have done a Oyster Card experiment. What happens of I go outside the travel card zone. In this scenario I turn my PAYG Oyster into a Zone 1 to 3 travel card and find out what happens if I go to Zone 5? Do I get fined/penalty or pay the outer zones? Make sure you have enough credit in the Oyster Card before you do this. 0:00 = Experiment 6:51 = Journey History Proof

Welcome to Montreal, Canada. This extraordinary city, which began life as a French colony in the 1600s, is now a stunning metropolis combining old-world architecture with modern dashes. When Mark Twain visited Montreal in the 19th century, he was so taken by its many churches that he nicknamed it “The City of 100 Bell Towers.” These numerous buildings are often part of Montreal sightseeing; marvel at the imposing stone façade of Christ Church Cathedral, or stand beneath the great arched ceiling of the beautiful Notre Dame Basilica. You can spend days exploring the city’s many sacred spaces, but Montreal tourism is so much more than that; if you’re a foodie, you’re in luck, because the residents of Montreal adore a good meal, whether it’s poutine from a streetside bistro or fresh produce f...
