A national anthem (also national hymn, song etc.) is a generally patriotic musical composition that evokes and eulogizes the history, traditions and struggles of its people, recognized either by a nation's government as the official national song, or by convention through use by the people.
Anthems rose to prominence in Europe during the 19th century, but some are much older in origin. The oldest national anthem is the "Wilhelmus", the Dutch national anthem, written between 1568 and 1572 during the Dutch Revolt, which became the official Dutch national anthem in 1932. The Japanese anthem, "Kimi ga Yo", has its lyrics taken from a Heian period (794–1185) poem, yet it was not set to music until 1880. "God Save the Queen", the national anthem of the United Kingdom and one of the two national anthems of New Zealand, was first performed in 1745 under the title "God Save the King". Spain's national anthem, the "Marcha Real" (The Royal March), dates from 1770 (written in 1761). The oldest of Denmark's two national anthems, "Kong Christian stod ved højen mast" was adopted in 1780 and "La Marseillaise", the French anthem, was written in 1792 and adopted in 1795. Serbia was the first Eastern European nation to have a national anthem, Rise up, Serbia! in 1804.

Warren Haynes (born April 6, 1960) is an American rock and blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Haynes is best known for his work as long time guitarist with The Allman Brothers Band and as founding member of the jam band Gov't Mule. Early in his career he was a guitarist for David Allan Coe and The Dickey Betts Band. Haynes also is known for his associations with the remaining members of The Grateful Dead, including touring with Phil Lesh and Friends and The Dead. In addition, Haynes founded and manages Evil Teen Records. He is ranked number #23 on Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time.
In addition to singing and playing acoustic and electric guitar, Haynes is also a songwriter. He spent his formative years in Asheville, North Carolina, where he lived with his two older brothers and his father, Edward Haynes. Warren began to play the guitar at age 12. His primary guitar is a Gibson Les Paul '58 Reissue Electric Guitar. His choice of a '58 is most likely because of Duane Allman's famed '58 Les Paul and the tone he achieved with that, rather than the more commonly used '59 Les Paul model, popularized by guitarists such as Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page).

Grey performed professionally as a child in a folk duo with her mother called Generations. Together, (with producer/engineer Randy Green) they independently produced three albums, Dream Maker, Lift Me, and Millennial Child/Waiting For You. Oh say can you see,
By the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed,
At the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
Through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched,
Were so gallantly streaming.
And the rocket's red glare,
The bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night,
That our flag was still there.
Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave,
does being in debt feel just like a long lost friend
well just wait around cause the desperation's kicking in, and its already starting to mix with one of my best peices of fiction
and it's called i'll be getting by and i'll make ends meet does the forty hour week have you bent at the knees and you can't even see that everything's kept just out of reach
ever get that funny feeling that your future is not going to be bought cheap, and that for sale sign thats hanging on your neck might as well spell defeat, yeah its already starting to mix with on of my best peices of fiction
and it's called i'll be getting by and i'll make ends meet does the forty hour week have you bent at the knees and you can't even see that everything's kept just out of reach
my american dream is to have it a little bit better than my parents ever had it
my american dream is to have it a little bit better than its just a force habit
[intro]
Money is the anthem…of success
So before we go out
What's your address?
[lana del rey]
I'm your national anthem
God, you're so handsome
Take me to the hamptons
Bugatti Veyron
He loves to romance them
Reckless abandon
Holding me for ransom
Upper echelon
He says to be cool but
I don't know how yet
Wind in my hair
Hand on the back of my neck
I said, 'can we party later on?'
He said, 'yes, yes'
[chorus]
Tell me i'm your national anthem
(ooooh, yeah, baby, bow down
making me so wow, wow)
Tell me i'm your national anthem
(sugar, sugar, how now
take your body down town)
Red, white, blue's in the skies
Summer's in the air and
Baby, heaven's in your eyes
I'm your national anthem
[lana del rey]
Money is the reason
We exist
Everybody knows it, it's a fact
Kiss, kiss
I sing the national anthem
While i'm standing over your body
Hold you like a python
And you can't keep your hands off me
Or your pants on
See what you've done to me
Give me chevron
You said to 'be cool' but
I'm already coolest
You said to 'get real'
Don't you know who you're dealing with?
Um, do you think you'll buy me lots of diamonds?
(yes, also a gun)
[chorus]
Tell me i'm your national anthem
(ooooh, yeah, baby, bow down
making me so wow, wow)
Tell me i'm your national anthem
(sugar, sugar, how now
take your body down town)
Red, white, blue's in the skies
Summer's in the air and
Baby, heaven's in your eyes
I'm your national anthem
[bridge]
It's a love story for the new age
For the six page
We're on a quick sick rampage
Wining and dining
Drinkin' and drivin'
Excessive buyin'
Overdosin', dying
On our drugs and our love
And our dreams and our age
Blurring the lines between real and the fake
Dark and lonely
I need somebody to hold me
He will do very well
I can tell, I can tell
Keep my safe in his bell tower, hotel
Money is the anthem of success
So put on mascara, and your party dress
I'm your national anthem
Boy, put your hands up
Give me a standing ovation
Boy, you is landed
Babe, in the land of
Sweetness and angel
Queen of saigon
[chorus]
Tell me i'm your national anthem
Ooh, yeah, baby, bow down
Making me so wow, wow
Tell me i'm your national anthem
Sugar, sugar, how now
Take your body down town
Red, white, blue's in the skies
Summer's in the air and
Baby, heaven's in your eyes
I'm your national anthem
[outro]
Money is the anthem
God, you're so handsome
Money is the anthem
[Intro: Mix talks while The Star Spangled Banner plays in the background]
Huey B. Newton shot in cold blood in west Oakland
Oliver North receives community service hours
for selling weapons to known terrorists
Tawana was brutally raped, but two fools said she did it to herself
A six hundred million dollar stealth bomber fails to fly successfully
And you say I should be proud of this song
Think about it AMERICA!
[Verse One: Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I'm living like hell in a world of death
Protectors of the people wear bullet-proof vests
Your little nephew, flipped him a Uzi
Took to the streets, shot em up and then "Who me?"
Locked in a trunk by Republican villains
Pinstripe suits, experts at killin
Civil war, but some want out
Trapped in a box called the ghetto we shout
Headin for the strip cuz the squares ain't hip
Sell a couple keys, make the home boys trip
The president is a dope man's friend
The governments strong but the dope got in
Punish the accused, but the trial was short
A black man's dogged in a all white court
The jury dismissed, prosecutor says, "Can em"
Now I'm ashamed of my national anthem
[Verse Two: Sir Mix-a-Lot]
The pentagon had a plan for a rescue
They said intelligence never makes miscues
The thirty-first was a day of death
Lieutenant Colonel Higgins, you know the rest
No negotions with a terrorist force
But Iran's still buzzin' offa Oliver North
The Ayatollah's dead but the hearts not gone
The burning of the flag in Iran goes on
Anti-American, we're loved by few
We pay big money to the ones that do
The christian militia, they give us big knowledge
But the pentagon messed up and wouldn't acknowledge
Ollie took orders from the number one man
But the crap hit the fan and superiors ran
Democrats tripped, the committee said can em
Now I'm ashamed of my national anthem
[Verse Three: Sir Mix-a-Lot]
Am I a communist? No. But my brain ain't slow
Not long ago, Mix-a-Lot was po'
Never helped out by the ones with clout
I was mad at the world cause I felt left out
Stealin hub caps, stereos, anything to get paid
I realize I'm a modern day slave
Posse downtown, the sight was set
I saw my home boys mother with a buggy and a bag
People walk by, laughin at poverty
I looked in her face and I soon saw me
College educated, but she can't get a job
The american dream once again got robbed
Vietnam vets on the street, that's a shame
Fight for the man, and the man plays games
Dogged by the hippies, dope smokin' critics
You blame it on the soldier, but your government did it
My national anthem
My national anthem
You gonna teach me now about the care and feedin of politicians
[Verse Four: Sir Mix-a-Lot]
Bolivia, Columbia, the CIA
Any similarities, I won't say
But the dope gets in, uncut like P-Funk
Headin over borders in a scent-free trunk
Coffee over dope, but the dog can't sniff it
Remember that lady that was broke, she's widdit
Started with a key, clocked 17 G's
Then got another shipment, pure D
Headin for Brumlen, the money was betta
Rollin in a Porsche, in a cashmere sweater
Crime, revenge, I'm tellin you this
The people that laugh are the people that knows
Her community complained, callin the police
But where was the community when she was in the street
Dope's comin in, it's killin em at random
And I'm ashamed of my national anthem
My national anthem
My national anthem
My national anthem
I never will forget you, my American love
And Ill always remember you, wild as they come
And though if I saw you I'd pretend not to know
The place where you were in my heart is now closed
I already live with too many ghosts
Now everybody lately is living up in space
Flying through transmissions on invisible airwaves
With everything discovered just waiting to be known
What's left for God to teach from his thrown?
And who will forgive us when he's gone?
So, take what you need now, honey
And do what you like
Don't worry about me, mama
I'm alright
And I can't stand the weather, no I never liked the rain
We drink on the job then we go home early
And I remember she used to look so good in that dress
Now she just screams how I promised her more than this
Take it easy baby, it ain't over yet
So, take what you need now, honey
And do what you like
Don't worry about me, mama
I'm alright
And if there's something you need
And if there's something you find
Whatever gets you through the night
Whatever gets you through the night
I never will forget you, my American love
