King Edward VII reviews the troops
A view of a large stately home. A group of British soldiers stand to attention with fixed bayonets and two officers inspect them, there are two large pillars in the foreground.
The back view of a car (registration number B 97) stationary in front of large pillars, there are a few gentlemen milling about. The car is gone and several officers walk towards the pillars/doorway. The officers walk through a door. A large formation of cavalry soldiers ride up a driveway, there is a policeman in the foreground; the cavalry ride close past the camera. Officers on horse back, an open horse drawn carriage with royalty inside and cavalry behind. Soldiers marching with flags wound around poles, a horse drawn carriage passes them going in the opposite direction. A small group of clergymen walk across a field that in the background has large formations of troops.
A small group of officers, waiting by a platform, in a field that in the background has large formations of troops.
1.05 – A royal carriage is drawn across the field, it drives past the officers and they salute, the carriage then stops and its occupants get out, the first a woman is helped up some steps by a guard. The occupants get from out the carriage and walk up the steps (they are not identifiable because there is a crowd of people in front of the camera). Two women and a man arrive in a different carriage. A third carriage arrives and you can see King Edward VII saluting its arrival, the carriage has three ladies and one man in it, in the foreground is someone taking a photograph, the king waits while the people alight from the carriage and walk up the steps.
2.09 – the king salutes as large formations of cavalry troops as they parade past him, they have rifles fixed, the camera pans from the king to the troops and back again.
Two artillery officers on horse back are closely followed by a large number of drivers and horses pulling large guns.
03.23 – A large procession of cavalry, then a slow pan to the king saluting, dignitaries surround the king, and there is a policeman in the foreground. The group of dignitaries have moved, some are now standing looking towards static troops; these dignitaries are predominantly female. Female dignitaries talking to each other. A large number of drivers and horses pulling large guns, the camera pans back to the king who is talking to a small group of dignitaries watching the artillery formation pass.
04.21 – the king and the main group of dignitaries start to disperse, the king is still prominent in the frame and seems to be waiting. The king faces the camera as a horse drawn carriage pulls in behind him. The carriage is stationed by the bottom of some steps and aids move around preparing it for the king, the king is offered his coat but refuses, he is then taken by a guard to inspect the troops. The kings and his aids inspect a row of nurses and the nurses all bow as he passes. The king is by the carriage and some aids are helping him on with his coat, behind him you can see a large crowd and a female dignitary walks down the steps and is helped into the carriage, the king follows in behind and two other men get in with them. The carriage moves off and the king salutes.
