East is a noun, adjective, or adverb indicating direction or geography. East is one of the four cardinal directions or compass points. It is the opposite of west and is perpendicular to north and south.
By convention, the right hand side of a map is east.
To go east using a compass for navigation, set a bearing or azimuth of 90°.
East is the direction toward which the Earth rotates about its axis, and therefore the general direction from which the Sun appears to rise.
During the Cold War, "The East" was sometimes used to refer to the Warsaw Pact and Communist China, along with other Communist nations.
Throughout history, the East has also been used by Europeans in reference to the Orient and Asian societies.
The word east is derived from the Proto-Germanic *aus-to- or *austra- "east, toward the sunrise" , from PIE *aus- "to shine," or "dawn".Ēostre, a Germanic goddess of dawn, might have been a personification of both dawn and the cardinal points.

Go go east
Go go east
Too many the questions
Where answers are few
The path driving tangled
Loves destiny's truth
With hunger unwilling
A passage to choose--
The trees growing ripe
With forbidden fruit
Dance in the garden
Sing with the snakes
Inviting free will,
To repeat his mistakes
With hunger unwilling
What will you do
The trees are ripe
With forbidden fruit
Live, love, be, believe
Go go east
Go go east of Eden
Rising in the eastern sky
The sun god dances light divine
Rising in the eastern sky
The western banks below his eye
Live, love, be, believe
Stop..
Go..
(East of Eden)
With hunger unwilling
A passage to choose
The trees are ripe
With forbidden fruit
Go go east
Go go east
Go

All last night we were learning
Drank our cheques by the bar
Somewhere bridges were burning
As the walls came down at the Star
Squadcars fanned the insanity
Newsteams fought through the crowd
Spent last night under custody
And the sun found me on the road
At the Star Hotel
At the Star Hotel
They better listen cause we're ringin' a bell
Ain't no deals, we got nothing to sell
Just a taste of things to come at the Star Hotel
(Here lies a local culture
Most nights were good, some were bad
Between school and a shifting future
It was most of all we had)
Those in charge are getting crazier
Job queues grow through the land
An uncontrolled Youth in Asia
Gonna make those fools understand
This evening the pigeons turned to bars of gold
In the sun’s last light
And across the river, Camden is a guilded kingdom
on the verge of night
And so poised here at the edge of the city
I’m getting high on the sound
Of the buzz of 95
And the scent of something going down.
CHORUS:
East, baby, where the South Street floats into the sky.
Tonight east is all I need to finally start to feel defined.
And so a man standin’ out over the highway
As an autumn twilight chills his skin
At last has come to terms that where he’s from
is more then where he’s been
Now the traffic in the flashing shadows of the final glow
Are just a rush of burning chariots driven by the ancient lure of home
And with my hands tucked deep down in my pockets
I see my own breath in the light
Of the east that holds and soothes me
As I spin west into Friday night.
When it ends, when heaven comes
angels are executioners,
and cold steel will be the new colors of the Gap.
We will use leaf blowers from the Home Depot to clean
up the hair and bones.
The scars on our wrists will open.
Some of us will faint before we sleep,
Because no one picked up at the NYSE.
We'll count and compare the flowers on our graves and
