INDIA: POPE JOHN PAUL II TO MAKE 3-DAY VISIT
English/Nat
Pope John Paul II arrives in India on Friday for a three day visit.
The pontiff will participate in a congregation of Asian bishops, meet Indian leaders and religious heads and celebrate a Mass in the Indian capital.
The visit has already sparked controversy.
Some Hindu fundamentalist groups are demanding that the Pope should declare a ban on Christian conversions in India, apologise for religious excesses of the past and publicly reaffirm that the Christian faith is not the only way to salvation.
The Indian government has distanced itself from the protests and says it will ensure that the visit goes off peacefully.
Hectic practice sessions for the choir that would participate in the Holy Mass conducted by the head of the Roman Catholic church.....
Preparations are in full swing to welcome Pope John Paul II who is visiting India for the first time in thirteen years.
Thousands of Catholics from India and other parts of Asia are expected to attend the Holy Mass to be celebrated in one of the country's biggest sports stadiums.
The Mass will mark the conclusion of the special assembly of Asian Synod Bishops.
The Pope is scheduled to meet with the Bishops of the Synod and promulgate the Synod document.
The church is also sponsoring a multi-religious gathering where the Pope will meet the leaders of other faiths.
The pope is visiting India as a state guest.
The Roman Catholic Church in India has established two internet sites to give information about the Pope's visit and answer questions about Christianity.
Christians make up 2-point-3 percent of India's nearly one (b) billion people.
Many radical Hindu groups accuse the Church of forcing conversions and have been blamed for a recent rise in the attacks on Christians.
The Indian government has condemned the protests and has urged the Hindu nationalists to show restraint during the pontiff's visit.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"The government has also stated that it will do its best to welcome the Holy Father since he is a state guest. And I think they are doing their best. In fact, the security is very tight."
SUPER CAPTION : Alan De Lastic , Archbishop of Delhi
The papal visit has provoked a debate about the role of Churches in India.
Leading the campaign against the Christian missionaries is the World Hindu Council, a religious affiliate of the governing Bhartiya Janata Party or B-J-P.
The hardline Hindu groups have been holding rallies and protests to demand an apology from the Pope for the past Christian persecution in India.
Some historians believe that 75-thousand people who resisted the conversions by the church were massacred in Goa, then a Portuguese colony, four centuries ago and many Hindu temples were razed.
One of the Hindu revivalist protest marches is scheduled to arrive in Delhi on the eve of the Pope's arrival.
SOUNDBITE: (Hindi)
"There are more than one hundred and eighteen thousand missionaries and sixty five thousand nuns here. All of them are engaged in a one-point program - convert the people."
SUPER CAPTION : Ashok Singhal, World Hindu Council
The Hindu protestors are demanding a ban on the ongoing missionary activities.
They claim that the missionaries target the poor and illiterate Hindus and use coercion and deceit to buy their souls.
The radical Hindus also accuse the Christian evangelists of setting high targets for conversion to mark the end of the millennium.
They want Pope John Paul to publicly affirm that all religions are equal rather than preaching that Christianity is the only path to salvation.
Christian leaders deny charges of forced conversions and say that the Catholic church does not recognise conversions based on inducement.

Colorado Experience: Pope John Paul II
750,000 participants from 72 countries convened in Denver in the summer of 1993 for World Youth Day and a visit from the Pope. Organizers feared the gang disturbances of the notorious “Summer of Violence” would scare away visitors, and yet for those 5 and half days, all violence ceased. This episode of Colorado Experience examines the largest gathering in Colorado history. Archival photographs, footage and modern-day interviews track the historic visit of Pope John Paul II, the Catholic Church’s revered leader.

"Today, Holy Father, genocide is attempted again when by hunger, illness and total economic suffocation some try to subdue this people that refuses to accept the dictates and the rule of the mightiest economic, political and military power in history; much more powerful than the old Rome that for centuries had the beasts devour those who refused to abdicate their faith. Like those Christians horribly slandered to justify their crimes, we who are as slandered as they were, we choose a thousand times death rather than abdicate our convictions."

"It was my brother who I saw. But the reality is that my brother is Cuba's dictator - I suppose because of his position, because of his behaviour, because of the way he has managed the country during the last 38, 39 years. However, I have never stopped thinking of him as my brother, not as a political leader."
SOUNDBITE: ((Spanish) Juanita Castro, Fidel Castro's sister
"It is very difficult to tell you what Fidel is capable of doing now, at this time, when the situation in the country reflects the peoples unhappiness. Who knows? Hopefully the Pope is able to get from him many things. Among them the liberation of many political prisoners. That would be great. At least it would be one of the important steps that could come out of this. I hope the Pope is able to achieve it."

On Saturday, the frail-looking Pontiff also paid homage to Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi.

The Pope maintained his hectic tour of the Holy Land on Friday, visiting three churches near Galilee which are significant to the Christian religion.
After saying a Mass for the Youth earlier in the day, where one thousand faithful turned out to hear him, the Pope's next engagement was a more intimate affair.
He was accompanied by only a small entourage as he prayed in the churches near the shores of Lake Galilee.
The Pope has maintained a hectic schedule during his pilgrimage to the Holy Land - and there was no let up on Friday.

Pope John Paul II arrived in the Egyptian capital on Thursday afternoon on highly personal pilgrimage to retrace some of the most epic passages from the Bible.
It's also an opportunity to promote closer dialogue with Muslims and try to overcome old rifts with Orthodox Christians.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was on hand to greet the elderly pontiff as he stepped from the plan to the strains of Verdi's Aida.
Early in the day, workers at some of Egypt's key Christian sites were scrambling to finish final preparations for Pope John Paul II's first ever visit to the country.

POPE AGAIN STOKES WORLD WAR III FEARS.
NEW YORK At a time when Christians worldwide are facing persecutions of historic nature, Pope Francis, in his homily delivered Sunday at Mass in the Santa Marta residence in Vatican City, expressed concern that “World War II is upon us” and urged Christians to proclaim their faith fearlessly, without concern for the consequences.
“The path of the Church is openness, to speak frankly, with liberty,” Pope Francis said, reading from New Testament scriptures of the days after the Resurrection of Jesus, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles and gave them the courage to go forth and proclaim the

Natural Sound
Pope John Paul II departed for Jordan's capital, Amman on Monday, for an historic trip to the troubled Middle East.
During his trip the pope will walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ he will also take his first trips to Jordan, Israel and areas already under Palestinian control.
Frail but looking forward to his trip, Pope John Paul II left Rome on Monday for the historic trip that would take him across the Middle East.
The Pontiff insists his trip to the holy land is strictly for religious reasons and says he does not want to be embroiled in the political strife across the region.
On Sunday he asked worshippers to pray for the success of his holy pilgrimage and said his trip would be an apostolic voyage rich in significance.
The Holy Land itinerary will test the 79-year-old pope's physical strength as well as diplomacy.
He will meet many political and religious dignitaries including Jordan's King Abdullah, Israel's president and prime minister, and the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
John Paul will also make stops in Bethlehem, at the Sea of Galilee and in Jerusalem, where he will join worshippers at the Western Wall.

Pope Shenouda III, the patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, who led Egypt's Christian minority for 40 years during a time of increasing tensions with Muslims, has died.
Egypt's state news agency MENA said Shenouda died on Saturday after battling liver and lung problems for several years. He was 88.
The patriarch, known in Arabic as Baba Shenouda, headed one of the most ancient churches in the world.
The church traces its founding to Saint Mark, who is said to have brought Christianity to Egypt in the 1st century, during the reign of the Roman emperor Nero.
For Egypt's estimated 10 (m) million Coptic Christians, he was a charismatic leader, known for his sense of humour - his smiling portrait was hung in many Coptic homes and shops.
Above all, many Copts saw him as the guardian of their minority group, living amid a majority Muslim population in this country of more than 80 (m) million people.
Shenouda sought to do so by striking a conservative balance.
During the rule of President Hosni Mubarak, he gave strong support to his government, while avoiding pressing Coptic demands too vocally in public to prevent a backlash from Muslim conservatives.
After Mubarak's fall a year ago, Christians grew increasingly worried over the rising power of Muslim conservatives.
Islamic hardliners carried out a string of attacks on churches, and their clerics gave increasingly dire warnings that Christians were hoarding weapons and seeking to take over the country.
Christian anger over the violence was further stoked when troops harshly put down a Christian protest in Cairo, killing 27 people.
In an unprecedented move aimed at showing unity, leaders from the Muslim Brotherhood, along with top generals from the ruling military, joined Shenouda for services for Orthodox Christmas in January at Cairo's main cathedral.
Shenouda also met Sheik Ahmed al-Tayeb, Imam of Cairo's al-Azhar Mosque, in 2011, amid attacks by Muslim fundamentalists on Christians, in an attempt to diffuse the religious tensions in Egypt.
Still, a sector of Christians - particularly among youth who supported the revolution against Mubarak - grew critical of Shenouda, saying his conservative approach was not doing enough to stem what they saw as growing anti-Christian violence and discrimination against their community.
In recent years, the ageing patriarch travelled repeatedly to the United States for treatment.
A physician who worked at a Cairo hospital when the pope was treated there in 2007 said Shenouda suffered from prostate cancer that had spread to his colon and lungs.
Shenouda was born Nazeer Gayed on 3 August 1923, in the southern city of Assiut.
After entering the priesthood, he became an activist in the Sunday School movement, which was launched to revive Christian religious education.
At the age of 31, Gayed became a monk, taking the name Antonious El-Syriani and spending six years in the monastery of St Anthony.

INDIA: NEW DELHI: POPE JOHN PAUL II ENCOURAGES EVANGELISM (2)
English/Nat
Pope John Paul has said Asia's poor are hungry for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and has urged his bishops to spread the Christian message across the Asian continent.
In a 29-page document released during his current trip to India, the pontiff praised Christian missionaries across Asia as heroic.
He also warned that the church would continue to renounce attempts to bring abortion or population programmes to the area.
On Saturday, the frail-looking Pontiff also paid homage to Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi.
The ailing 79-year-old pope appeared in good spirits, but he walked slowly using a cane.
He was far less vigorous than during his only other trip to India, 13 years ago.
Visiting Gandhi's monument on Saturday, the pontiff stumbled and had to be held up by an aide.
His spokesman blamed it on uncomfortable green sandals the pope was asked to wear, since Hindus do not wear shoes at shrines.
An aide removed them - and the pope went on with his visit.
At the presidential mansion, he held talks with President K.R. Narayanan and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Indian government has been eager to play down tensions between Christians and the majority Hindus.
Hindu groups are angry about Catholic missionary work in the country and have repeatedly staged protests against the Papal visit.
At a grand ceremony at New Delhi's Sacred Heart Cathedral on Saturday, the Pope met the Asian bishops and clergy, who had been waiting for this moment for a year.
Bishops from Asia had met for a month at the Vatican in 1998 to discuss how to broaden the reach of their church that claims only three percent of the region's population.
Saturday's ceremony rounded off their discussions.
The Pontiff used the occasion to unveil the Synod document, spelling out the Vatican's vision for Asia for the next millennium.
In his speech to the gathering, the Pope declared his church an ally of Asia's poor.
While acknowledging that Christ was often perceived as "foreign" in Asia, the pope said the peoples of the continent needed Jesus Christ and his Gospel.
Many radical Hindu groups - including the World Hindu Council - want the Pope to halt all conversions.
They say Christianity is not the only path for human salvation.
They also want an apology for the killings of Indians by Portuguese Catholic colonialists during the 16th century Inquisition.
But there was no hint of apology in the pope's 29-page Apostolic Exhortation.
Instead, there was praise for the many missionaries working on the continent.
The pontiff called on them to step up evangelisation, particularly to the poor and disenfranchised.
At one point during the 90-minute meeting John Paul, clearly fatigued, sat slumped in a red velvet chair.
The pope also denounced violence in the name of religion as a travesty of true belief.

India has 23 (m) million Christians, or two point three percent of the population.
Of those, 16 (m) million are Catholic.
Close to the cathedral, a group of tribal activists continued their sit-in protest against the activities of Christian missionaries.
The pope's visit has triggered a debate about allegedly forced conversions of poor, mostly illiterate Hindus.
The church denies such allegations.
Christians say their community has been the target of more than 100 attacks by two Hindu fringe groups during the past one year.
Meanwhile, newspapers on Saturday carried open letters addressed to the pope from Hindu religious leaders.

Pope John Paul II started an 11-day visit to his native Poland on Saturday with a visit to the southwestern city of Wroclaw.
On Sunday half a (m) million people are expected to visit the city to try to get a glimpse of the pontiff when he says mass at the close of a Eucharistic Congress.
A homecoming for Pope John Paul.
The papal plane touched down at Warsaw on Saturday morning, bringing the pontiff for his seventh visit to his native land as pope.
Hundreds of flag-waving well-wishers turned out to welcome the 77-year-old Roman Catholic leader.
Looking frail, John Paul emerged under a shower of light rain to be greeted by religious and political dignitaries.
The pontiff told the crowd that Poland can play an important role in the family of European nations.
Poland has been pushing hard for quick acceptance into NATO and the European Union.
John Paul also said although he's now living far away in Italy he never ceases to feel like a child of Poland.
And he joked about the cold drizzle that greeted him, calling it "true Polish weather."
Later John-Paul arrived in the southwestern city of Wroclaw, the first stop on his massive tour, to the obvious delight of nuns at its cathedral .
On Sunday he'll be saying mass in the City at the close of a Eucharistic Congress.
Church officials say they expect half a (m) million people to visit the city to try to get a glimpse of the pontiff.
The trip will be one of the longest tours of his 19-year papacy; the pope plans to visit 12 cities in 11 days.
The Polish trip also includes the cities of Pozan and Krakow and stops of significance for the country's powerful Roman Catholic Church in Czestochowa and Gniezno.

EGYPT: POPE JOHN PAUL II ARRIVES IN CAIRO (2)
English/Nat
Pope John Paul II praised Egypt as a cradle of learning, religion and unity as he started a pilgrimage to retrace some of the most epic passages from the Bible.
The trip is also an opportunity to promote closer dialogue with Muslims and to try to overcome old rifts between Catholics and Orthodox Christians.
The Pope and Mubarak held a private meeting in an airport reception room, then made brief remarks on television.
Mubarak welcomed the pope to "a land that prides itself for being the cradle of civilization and a hospitable safe haven for all messengers of God."
He denounced all forms of discrimination.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"The Egyptian people stand together united their submission to the will of God and inspired by the spirit of both Christianity and Islam. They live faithful to both the teaching of the Bible and the Koran. The latter exalted Royal believers to submit to the word f God as revealed to them through all his prophets without any distinction or exclusion. This was a theme which was repeated in many versed of Koran."
SUPER CAPTION: President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt
John Paul, making his first visit to Egypt and the 90th foreign trip of his 22-year papacy, insists his agenda is "purely religious, not political."
But all gestures by the 79-year-old pontiff have the potential to reverberate through the volatile mix
of beliefs across the Middle East.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"Peace be upon you (upsot clapping) For many years I have been looking forward to celebrating the 2,000th anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ by visiting and praying at the places specially linked to God's intervention in history. Thank you, Mr. President for making it possible for me to come here and go to where God revealed his name to Moses and gave his law as a sign of his great mercy and kindness to us, his creatures."
SUPER CAPTION: Pope John Paul II
The Pope plans to hold a Mass in Cairo.
He also will meet with Coptic Orthodox Pope Shenouda III and Sheik Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, one of the most influential Muslim clerics in Egypt.
Coptic Christians are the largest religious minority in predominantly Muslim Egypt, making up an estimated 10 percent of the 64 million population.
Clashes in January between Muslims and Copts in southern Egypt left 23 people dead.
The pope could use his influence to press for reconciliation.

ISRAEL: NAZARETH: POPE JOHN PAUL II MASS WRAP
English/Nat
Pope John Paul II continued his visit to the Holy Land on Saturday, with a mass in the town of Nazareth.
Thousands turned out to welcome the Pontiff, who presided over the mass in the Basilica of the Annunciation amidst the tightest security of his visit so far.
To the Christian faithful, the town of Nazareth is a living shrine - the site where the Virgin Mary learned she was to give birth to Jesus Christ.
The Pope visited the town on Saturday - the Catholic feast day commemorating the event.
Thousands lined the route taken by the Popemobile through the town - singing and cheering.
There was a warm welcome too at the Basilica of the Annunciation - where the Pope presided over a full mass.
It was the sixth day of his visit to the Holy Land, and the pontiff showed some signs of strain.
His voice was hoarse and his left hand trembled badly, a symptom typical of Parkinsons disease.
But John Paul II persevered - first saying private prayers in the grotto where Roman Catholics believed Gabriel appeared to Mary, over which the Basilica is built.
SOUND-UP: (English)
"We love you.. we love you."
SUPER CAPTION: Vox pop from crowd
The message of his sermon was one of praise to the Virgin Mary.
He asked also for help in protecting Christians from the evils and temptations of modern life.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"I ask the holy family to inspire all Christians to defend the family - defend the family against so many present day dangers to its nature, its stability, its mission. To the holy family, I entrust the efforts of Christians and all people who would live to defend life and to promote respect for the decency of every human being."
SUPER CAPTION: Pope John Paul II
Pope John Paul II performed the time-honoured ceremony of blessing the bread and wine - representing the body and blood of Christ, shed for man.
But outside the Basilica, the mood was far from divine.
Tight cordons and a heavy police presence kept crowds well away from the motorcade, as the Pope left for Jerusalem.
The townspeople of Nazareth are divided over plans to construct a large new mosque in the shadow of the Basilica.
The Muslim community - more than two-thirds of the town's population of 70,000 refused to mute their call to prayer, before the end of the Catholic mass.
Rabbis' too complained that making Jewish security officers work on Saturday was a desecration of the Sabbath.
It was a far cry from the papal message of peace and religious tolerance.

ISRAEL: GALILEE: POPE JOHN PAUL II CHURCHES VISIT
Natural Sound
The Pope maintained his hectic tour of the Holy Land on Friday, visiting three churches near Galilee which are significant to the Christian religion.
After saying a Mass for the Youth earlier in the day, where one thousand faithful turned out to hear him, the Pope's next engagement was a more intimate affair.
He was accompanied by only a small entourage as he prayed in the churches near the shores of Lake Galilee.
The Pope has maintained a hectic schedule during his pilgrimage to the Holy Land - and there was no let up on Friday.
After saying Mass to about one hundred thousand followers, the Pontiff then visited three churches that are Christian shrines, on the shores of Lake Galilee.
The first commemorates the biblical story of Christ feeding more than five-thousand people with only five fish and two loaves of bread.
Pope John Paul II visited the church of First Feeding of the Multitude in Tabgha, four kilometres from Korazim.
There he kissed and blessed the sprawling rock where it is believed that the resurrected Jesus Christ shared a festive meal of fish with his apostles.
According to the gospels, after that meal Jesus asked Peter to succeed him as leader of the Church.
The other shrines recall Jesus' admonition to the Apostle Peter to "feed my lambs" - to care for the Christian flock.
During the Pope's private pilgrimage to the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter, he prayed with the Franciscan monks who care for the site.
Light rain fell as the Pope made his way through the streets of Galilee to the next shrine.
The Pope braved the drizzle to visit a church leading to a rock terrace that overlooks the Sea of Galilee.
The church's foundations date back to the fourth century.
As a sign of the tight security surrounding the papal visit, police boats patrolled the waters just off shore from the church.

EGYPT: PREPARATIONS FOR POPE JOHN PAUL II VISIT
Arabic/Eng/Nat
The hustle and bustle on the streets in Cairo on Thursday as people prepared to welcome Pope John Paul II.
This first-ever trip here by the well travelled Pope is seen by Egyptians as a spiritual as well as political pilgrimage, but preparations have been fairly low key in this predominantly Muslim country.
Still, Egyptian newspapers carried prominent news of the Pope's visit, often on the front page.
After his arrival on Thursday, the Pontiff was scheduled to pay separate courtesy calls to Sheik Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, a leading Egyptian Muslim cleric, and Pope Shenouda III, head of the Coptic Orthodox church.
The visits will likely focus on the tense relations between Egypt's Muslim majority and the Copts, the largest religious minority in Egypt numbering an estimated 10 percent of the 64 (m) million population.
Copts often complain they are unfairly treated by Muslims, and deadly clashes broke out at the start of the year between the two groups in the south of Egypt.
Sheik Tantawi has said that he welcomes John Paul's visit as an attempt "to bring people closer and encourage them to do good, and as a call for cooperation between people."
Tantawi is chief cleric of Al-Azhar University, a venerable seat of Muslim learning in Cairo that has been engaged in interfaith dialogue with the Vatican for nearly a quarter-century.

Preparations are also taking place here at the Cathedral of the Lady of Egypt - to be visited by the Pope.
It opened just two months ago - murals and towering stained glass windows represent images of the baby Jesus and his parents, Mary and Joseph, fleeing to Egypt to escape the marauding King Herod.
The tale is central to the traditions of the Orthodox Copts, caretakers of one of the earliest forms of Christianity and the vast majority of Egypt's more than 6 (m) million Christians.
Crews polished the oak doors and put fresh paint on walls and an eight-meter (26-foot) cross before it was erected next to Islamic-style quilted cloth tarpaulins shading the entrance.
Egypt's small Roman Catholic community - estimated at about 220-thousand- also feels strong links to the Holy Family's exile story, although the embellished Coptic version of miracles and vivid events does not appear in the Bible.
Security throughout the Pope's trip is expected to be tight.

STORYLINE
Pope John Paul II suggested in his spiritual testament that he considered the possibility of resigning in 2000 at a time when he was already ailing and when the Roman Catholic Church was embarking on a new millennium.
The document, which the Vatican released on Thursday, also said he left no material property and asked that all his personal notes be burned.
It mentioned only two living people: his personal secretary and the chief rabbi of Rome who welcomed him to Rome's synagogue in 1986.
The pope also had considered the possibility of a funeral in Poland, but later left it up to the College of Cardinals to decide.
The pope will be buried under St. Peter's Basilica on Friday after a funeral in the square.
John Paul wrote the testament over the course of his 26-year pontificate, starting in 1979, the year after he was elected.
It was written in his native Polish and translated by the Vatican into Italian.
Writing in 2000, the pope suggested the time was one of apparent torment for him, mentioning the 1981 attempt on
his life. He called his survival a "miracle."
He said he hoped the Lord "would help me to recognise how long I must continue this service to which he called me the
day of 16 October, 1978."
He also prayed at the time that he would have the "necessary strength" to continue his mission as long as he was serving as pope.

Pope Fears World War III is upon us!
“The path of the Church is openness, to speak frankly, with liberty,” Pope Francis said, reading from New Testament scriptures of the days after the Resurrection of Jesus, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles and gave them the courage to go forth and proclaim their faith without fear.
Pope Francis based his homily from the Acts of the Apostles, recalling the words of Saint Peter and Saint John expressing the courage they felt after the Resurrection when the Holy Spirit had descended upon them, urging them to shed their fear of reprisals, going forth openly into the world to proclaim, “We can speak openly now of what we have seen and heard Jesus do.”
“Even today, the message of the Church is the message of the openness in the path of Christian courage,” the pope said. “These two apostles, Peter and John, as the Bible says, found they had the courage without having to be told what to do. The Bible conveys this in simple words, translated as ‘courage,’ ‘openness,’ ‘freedom to speak,’ and ‘to not be afraid” to say what they felt. Even in the original, the Bible has so much significance with the simple assurance that all our fears will pass when we find the courage to express our faith in Christ openly.”
The pope’s homily at the Mass in the Santa Marta residence in Vatican City followed a High Mass celebrated in the St. Peter’s Cathedral to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 1915 massacre of the Armenians by the Turks, in which the pope caused uproar in Turkey by utilizing the Armenian genocide of a hundred years ago to explain that Christians once again are seeing “heinous crimes committed against Christians daily, in bloody massacres and the madness of destruction.”
“I fear we are already in World War III,” Pope Francis said, explaining that genocides such as happened to the Armenians in World War I and were repeated with the atrocities of Hitler and Stalin in World War II are being repeated today.
“I fear World War III is upon us when we hear daily the muffled cries of our brothers and sisters who are killed in unimaginable violence. These martyrs, simply because they believe in Jesus Christ or because of their ethnicity, are forced to abandon their land or be murdered horribly – decapitated, crucified, and burned alive.”
In reporting on the pope’s homily at Mass in the Santa Marta residence in Vatican City, the Vatican Radio noted the hero of the story is the Holy Spirit.
