Teresa, Theresa, and Therese (French: Thérèse) are feminine given names. The name is thought to be derived from the Greek verb θήρίζεἰν therizein, meaning to harvest.
Its popularity likely increased due to the prominence of several Roman Catholic saints, including Teresa of Ávila, Thérèse of Lisieux and, most recently, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
The popularity of this name in the United States over the last 15 years is falling, according to the US Census. Spelled "Theresa", it was ranked as the 852nd most popular name for girls born in 2008, down from 226th in 1992 (it ranked 65th in 1950, and 102nd in 1900). Spelled "Teresa", it was the 580th most popular name for girls born in 2008, down from 206th in 1992 (it ranked 81st in 1950, and 220th in 1900).

Audrey Justine Tautou (French: [odʁɛ totu]; born 9 August 1976 or 1978) is a French film actress, best known for her roles in Amélie (2001), The Da Vinci Code (2006), Priceless (2006) and Coco Before Chanel (2009). She won the César Award for Most Promising Actress in Venus Beauty Institute (1999).
Tautou was born in Beaumont, in the Puy-de-Dôme département of Auvergne, and was raised in Montluçon in nearby Allier. Her father, Bernard, is an oral surgeon, and her mother, Evelyne, is a teacher. Tautou showed an interest in acting at an early age and started her acting lessons at the Cours Florent.
In 1998, Tautou participated in a Star Search-like competition sponsored by Canal+ called "Jeunes Premiers" (The Young Debut) and won Best Young Actress at the 9th Béziers Festival of Young Actors. Tonie Marshall gave her a role in the César-winning Venus Beauty Institute (1999, aka Vénus beauté (institut)). In 2000, she won the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti as her country's most promising young film actress.
Alain Cavalier (born September 14, 1931) is a French film director. He was born in Vendôme, Loir-et-Cher and studied film at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques. He won several awards, including the César Award for Best Film and César Award for Best Director for his film Thérèse in 1987. His latest film Pater premiered In Competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
He was married to the French film actress and former Miss France winner Irène Tunc.
Émile François Zola (French pronunciation: [e.mil zɔ.la]; 2 April 1840 – 29 September 1902) was a French writer, the most important exemplar of the literary school of naturalism and an important contributor to the development of theatrical naturalism. He was a major figure in the political liberalization of France and in the exoneration of the falsely accused and convicted army officer Alfred Dreyfus, which is encapsulated in the renowned newspaper headline J'Accuse.
Zola was born in Paris in 1840. His father, François Zola (originally Francesco Zolla), was an Italian engineer. With his French wife Émilie Aurélie Aubert, the family moved to Aix-en-Provence in the southeast, when Émile was three years old. Four years later in 1847, his father died leaving his mother on a meager pension. In 1858 the Zolas moved to Paris, where Émile's childhood friend Paul Cézanne soon joined him. Zola started to write in the romantic style. His widowed mother had planned a law career for Émile but he failed his Baccalauréat examination.
Radley Metzger (born January 21, 1929) is an American filmmaker and film distributor.
Metzger was born in New York City. In his early career, he worked primarily as a film editor employed in cutting trailers for European art films. His directorial debut, Dark Odyssey (1958) (co-directed with William Kyriakis) was a drama concerning the experiences of a Greek immigrant arriving in New York. The film was favorably reviewed by the New York Times.
Along with Ava Leighton, Metzger founded Audubon Films in the early 1960s, a film distribution company that specialized in importing international features, some of which were marketed into the gradually expanding sexploitation film genre. Metzger's skills as an editor were employed in re-cutting and augmenting many of the features Audubon handled, including I Spit on Your Grave and I, a Woman. Audubon's first run-away success was Mac Ahlberg's I, a Woman (U. S. 1966).
Metzger's second directorial effort, The Dirty Girls was shot in 1963 and released in 1965.
